In 2004 Billy announced some obscure project called \"Chicago Songs\".

As it looks like, this \"Bobby Franks\" song is maybe the only material left from that period, from that project.

Does any of you know more about this? I love this! It has this \"I Am One Part II\" feeling.

The only thing I know is what I just found on sp.com. The question there is

\"Goofing around on the internet and I found all these old journal entries from Billy Corgan about writing, rehearsing, and eventually recording and performing a bunch of acoustic songs about Chicago. Has anyone heard this stuff? Where can one get one hands/ears on this stuff? For the curious, I read about this stuff and many other things at Billy Corgan’s Live Journal page. I believe this was from the spring of 2004 . . .\"

And the YouTube video was a response to this question… Sidenoted Chicago Song if I remember well, so I took that as a title. For me this little era after Zwan and before the reformation of the Smashing Pumpkins concept is a blank spot somehow. I was only into Pumpkins, a little into Zwan and then found new bands to follow. Anyway, the original question intrigues me. Maybe here are also people that can help. So I guess the questions would be

-Are there more songs like this from this period?
-Did Billy ever talk about this again in interviews?
-Did he cooperate with more people besides this flute person in the video?

Well, anything you know about this project…

Hahaha and that’s what happens when Cool As Ice Cream edits his original question \"what do you want to know exactly\" while I was typing the answer! :P

      Thank you Cool!

It’s a bit quiet and incomplete, probably the Audio #1 source:

I believe Columbus was recorded from inside a Tennis racket or something (?). :?

      – I don’t think he cooperated with other people on the Chicago songs.
      – He talked about the sessions on his website. These blogs are archived here: http://billycorgan.livejournal.com/tag/blue+entry Definitely check out his post from June, where he tries to explain how he experienced it all.
      – During the Chicago songs recordings, he posted blogs with pictures on http://www.integralnaked.org. I’m not sure if these are still available.

I just gave it a listen, very nice material! Definately a tennis racket, by the way. Absolutely no tennis court.

And thanks you all, these are little gems to me, it’s funny how you discover new things every now and then. That June 2004 Live Journal part is indeed very interesting. The way Billy switched between fighting for and fighting against, his love for James, all the artists he is thanking… cool. And this put a smile on my face (the French will know what I mean  ):

      until next time, au resevoir….

i think we stalled on this because the lyrics on unreleased material may be copyright. not sure. :?:

that seems odd. i just want to add it to my collection. the lyrics don’t actually need to be reprinted do they? also i couldn’t imagine the lyrics being any more copyrighted than any other set of lyrics from any other album.

i can, as it’s not an album. i think we have the front and back scans (somewhere????). hopefully we can upload this soon to add to your collection!
