My mom was looking over my shoulder and said "that’s a guy" (in the video).[/quote:w979gng6]
I like to think your mom is right. The eyes and eyebrows part are not female at all.

And about D’Arcy: I’m almost sure they (the band, or at least Billy) are sometimes hinting to her. Remember Billy’s bass guitar that was played by D’Arcy a lot in the old days? It appeared in a burial setting with a huge red SP heart in a coffin… can be found in the Zeitgeist artwork.

Hmmm. For the moment I have to correct Thailand + promo coming in. The poor seller was kicked off eBay before the auction ended. Most probably because he made it too obvious it was a promo. However I did email with him a bit, he confirmed both the promo and the standard release, and I’m trying to reach him again. Kinda hard as I don’t know his personal email. So I know they exist, but they are not coming in (yet).

Update 2009-09-03: He reposted under a different name and I’m bidding on it now. Please… Humbly asking everyone here not to bid on it. 8)

In that case you’re invited to join in sometime when I go there. Recently I got this phone with internet access, it’s pretty cool to pass the stores and check on your mobile what is in the SPfreaks collection or not. And this reminds me of a few years ago when I went there with 3 friends and when we found something, we just phoned each other to rush to a certain store. Easy job as they are numbered and everybody holds a map with the store numbers. Of course I was the only Smashing Pumpkins collector, so no competition. :D

Sorry guys, for being off-topic a bit :P

to be more complete, the second EU red 12-track (sold in the UK as a Virgin exclusive) should also be added.[/quote:df1bk82h]
Cool As Ice Cream is referring to his contribution, which sneaked in the Collection here:

    http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=COLLDETAILS&item=1825

It’s corrected above. Also added in the Collection tonight, with scans and info: Argentina and Indonesia. We have by now reached the number of 23 different types of Zeitgeist CD’s, with at least 4 more to come: US goldstamped promo, Thailand + promo and Mexico. Anybody got some Zeitgeist vinyl? Would be nice to have that also on the site!

    1. Why do they have Ginger wearing a blond wig? I didn’t even realize it was her until I saw her pick up the bass. It makes me think of D’Arcy.[/quote:2hiisgyy]
Geezz. I had the same creepy feeling when I saw her in the first half, around 1/3 or so, in the screen left above in a quick shot. Like "What? Huh? Did they hire…? Nooooo!". Very eagerly waiting to have an answer to this one!

Haha I was typing exactly the same story from another source! So I was backing up your idea actually, but not because of the Virgin sets being vinyl sourced alone. As you back it up more detailed I’m now completely with you Cool As Ice Cream. This Virgin Germany CD most likely is a kinda low quality set of tracks. Historical-wise absolutely not interesting, which doesn’t add to it’s value at all. And CD-collectors-wise: nice, cool, must have, but don’t pay to much for it. I still go for my Mega Platen en CD Beurs option.

i think he let someone else create the cd (he can’t do this himself), sourced from a vinyl. all machina II’s out there are vinyl sourced.[/quote:ebrpq8rc]
Why are you against the idea that this CD "could" be from a better source as vinyl? Just put it in a timeframe; they record tracks as late as July 2000 (for example White Spyder @ CRC), the vinyl must be pressed in August then, maybe early September, the 25 vinyl sets are "released" (given away) on 2000/09/05 and on 2000/09/16 the Pumpkins are conquering Europe (Germany) already. Meanwhile this specific CD is patiently waiting in the tourbus, ready to be given away soon.

Billy is indeed not the greatest technician, but why not ask for 1 or a few cd’s in the vinyl pressing factory? Or the other way around, how did he bring the tracks for MII to the vinyl pressing factory? The latter could mean he might have given away… the handwritten CD Master! I’m not straight away buying it that Billy plays 2 records (or let someone else play 2 records) just to get this CD.

Again, all this is pure speculation from my side, as I have not listened, let alone researched this beauty.

Yeah cool, thanks Cool! Little mystery solved. US only shirt I guess? But it leaves you wondering indeed why they flirt with the 4:20 theme, as Billy is kinda outspoken about using drugs.

Uhmmm… nope. No wristband. Only when it contains a kiss of Ginger, or a signature of Billy (you were at the barrier, right? Must have been easy job to get that)

How did you get so close anyway? I went to Pinkpop in May with my girlfriend, and we thought we were lucky already when we were like 5th – 8th row somewhere… Good job!

Oops, sorry, it’s on it’s way I see in your first post now, thanks! And also thanks for your other mail, I just read it. It will be on this site soon indeed… :D

Wouldn’t they call any cd they use to make a couple of promo copies a "master cd", no matter what the quality is?[/quote:99zbt8kp]
True, I guess so. But think of it. Billy and the Pumpkins come to Europe, and Billy takes a few CD’s with him to play in the tourbus, or let some record company bobo’s here and there listen to it. Kinda "look what I did, and you missed out". The letter states otherwise by the way, but whatever. Billy creates the vinyl, and burns this CD (or a few), most probably from the same studio master. Like this his copy is well sourced, and so is the copy given away by Virgin Germany. Because they didn’t create new artwork for it, and only a 1 page letter, I guess it was just a fun thing for them to do for a little group of people. When Virgin Germany figured out who of the receivers is most likely a Pumpkins fan, it might be unlikely that many copies of this promo pop up on the collectors market. This would explain a bit higher price: the availability and the high quality of the tracks. As far as I know the US and UK 4CD promo sets are all vinyl sourced, this Virgin Germany CD might have a source higher up in the ranks. Untill any of us has listened and properly researched this, nobody can tell. These are my "guts feelings" guesses for the moment.

And I’m hoping to find it someday, for example on the "Mega Platen en CD Beurs" in Utrecht Holland, the biggest record fair in the world (as they claim themselves, it’s organized every year in April & November, for your information). For just 5-25 EURO because some shopowner doesn’t know what it is and he thinks yeah well, all handwritten stuff, wtf is this, let’s see if some stupid guy (which would be me 8) ) is willing to pay something for it. With this attitude I found many French Delabel promo’s, Machina early acetates and so on, in Utrecht and elsewhere. Be patient, and not the whole market is on the internet, that’s my tip to all collectors…

The only thing I can tell is that I have received the pics from a contributor a long time ago (2 years ago? 3 years ago? I have no idea…), and put them online. It’s not in my collection yet unfortunately. As it comes with a genuine looking letter, it looks very original to me and definately worth a price above average. However it’s not Billy’s original handwriting, but a copy of it. Cool As Ice Cream is right with his question about the quality of the tracks, they should be ok to label this beauty with an according price. But as the letter states it was a \"CD-Master\" given to Virgin Germany, and if they copied it directly to these promo CD’s I presume the quality is kinda alright.

The stupid thing with these kind of items is that you can sometimes run into them on record fairs for just a few bucks, or find them on a rather unknown internet shop for almost nothing. It always needs a seller and a small or big market to determine the price for this thingy. There is also no reference to any sale or auctioning of this CD, as far as I know. My wildest guess would be that around 25-50 copies were made of this CD-Master, and my wildest guess for an average collectors price would be somewhere between 200-300 US$. When less: lucky buyer! When more: lucky seller!

    Hope this helps a bit.

I’m asking this on behalf of the American webmaster, and myself. We want to know if this part of the forum deserves to stay or not. Thanks.

Cool! Same to you Superlordspamulon. Now back to the subject please, sorry to interrupt toad32r. It was about the taping and recording policy of the Smashing Pumpkins, which is opened up by Archive.org and I must say: I’m extremely happy this happened! I have enjoyed many concerts already, lots of new songs (listen to Superchrist please, you love it BleedingTheOrchid, it rocks!) and sometimes very funny stage banter!

    Rock on guys!

Thanks, it’s really appreciated! Just see what you guys can do on that part, we could divide tasks for example. 1 of you (Superlordspamulon?) is only doing the newest uploads on Archive.org of the 2007 tour, I will do 1990 – 1996 (1988-1990 is already done by me, all of 2007 also, working on \"Smashing Pumpkins Live at Théâtre de Plein Air on 2007-08-19 (August 19, 2007)\" now as we speak) and somebody else (BleedingTheOrchid?) will do 1997-2000? Of course I’m not asking you to send me emails every day, but just the tracklengths of all songs of a live concert every now and then would be pretty nice already. Deal?

The Fox Theatre has contacted me saying that they have recieved word that audio recording is OK, they are still waiting for the video part to be allowed. Also, Ticketmaster is going to be contacted to post a statement in regards to the recording at SP shows as well.[/quote:hxw61f8t] if you do audio record it, would it be possible if you split it up (into each song) put them in a .zip folder, and then upload it to megauploads/sendspace/yousendit please? i like having live songs, and if i could have an entire show that would be great! if, however, you dont reckon the quality is good at all… then dont worry about it. i dont want them to be unlistenable [/quote:hxw61f8t]
But I was here for Superlordspamulon actually. Can I ask you a favor Superlordspamulon, since you seem to like live music? It would be helpful to SPfreaks when after you download a complete show, check on Tour & Recording History if it’s there and then: could you take notes of how long each track is (NOT the MP3 length, as it contains stage banter etc! but the actual song from startnote till endnote) and email it to us on @spfreaks.com">spf-contact@spfreaks.com? I will upload that info on there, but you will get the credits for the job of course. Same question to BleedingTheOrchid and others. Really, it would be very helpful I noticed this weekend working on it. My smiley for that job I did would be  !!!

i think they are just pumpkins t-shirts that mention "420", in reference to the many pot smokers in asheville.
    ([url:uh0gy2w6]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/420_%28cannabis_culture%29[/url:uh0gy2w6])[/quote:uh0gy2w6]
Nice info, and it’s true actually. Billy mentions this smoking and weed things many times during the Asheville gigs, and he seems to be in a wondering kind of critical mood. I listened to many of his remarks and stage banter this weekend while setting up the setlists/tracklengths in the Tour/Recording History section, and it looks like he didn’t want to cause to much problems about it. He also mentioned somewhere in Asheville he is still single, so this "marriage" story of some Veronica is also untrue I think. Creating a hoax that girl? Think so. But I do believe Billy when he says he’s against drugs. And as I have not seen that 420 shirt yet (somebody on MySpace promised to send pics of it, but I believe it takes a while… thanks anyway on here for the 420 explanation!) I cannot tell if it’s just making fun about it, or a serious appeal to people to smoke pot.
