I think this listing should be split up into two different ones: a UK version (HUTCD43) and a US version (HUT 43). These are CLEARLY different.
I think the UK one came out first as an import to the states, and then they reissued the US version due to popular demand.
Thoughts? If we are in agreement, I’ll change it in the database.

ArthurSpectatorObviously 2 different releases indeed, and all your assumptions are true, if you ask me…

manillascissorKeymasterArthur
I was browsing eBay and both of these were readily available for less than $10, if you wanted to update your collection.I’ll change the database.
Thanks!

AnonymousSpectatorCorrect me if I’m wrong, most UK and US items will mostly be quite different, no matter what… Unless it’s an import from the other country of course.
I gave a pile of US stuff away some years ago, silly – silly mistake.

manillascissorKeymasterActually, I’m having some trouble with this one. The UK that already exists on the site has different matrix codes than the ones I have. WTF?

2009.10.22 at 11:22 pm #39611
AnonymousSpectatorMy UK one’s:
UK: HUTDX 43
If yours is the same, then I’ll just guess at it being a genuine UK release.
I would have had the US one too, of course.

manillascissorKeymasterI think there are two US versions.

2009.10.22 at 11:41 pm #39613
AnonymousSpectatorConfusing one.
I can’t be sure where mine originated – and just realised you said yours was different to both! – although I’m certain it was from a local (near London) shop.
Looks like you might have another ‘exotic’ one.
Hopefully Cake might have seen this sort of thing before, I’m sure it’ll soon sort.

i’d say: update the database…
indeed: the UK-singles re-released in the US.
technically and basically making these: a different release.
i’d never noticed the marked difference in appearance: thanks for pointing this out!
this is what SPFC has to say on this release: http://www.spfc.org/songs-releases/disc … scog_id=14
the same applies to the singles for: Cherub Rock and Today by the way: also re-released in the US, following the initial UK release.

manillascissorKeymasterOk, so I’ve updated the original UK release, here: http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=COLLDETAILS&item=142
That one is pretty cut and dry. Over and done with. Now for the US version(s).
There are two types, one with mirrored matrix codes and one w/o. And the matrix codes are 100% different.
MIRRORED MATRIX CODE:
NON-MIRRORED MATRIX CODE:

manillascissorKeymasterAnyone actually have the Today/Cherub Rock singles pressed in the US? Neither one are on this site. You’d think since they were mass produced for easy access in the US, they’d be all over the place, but I’ve never seen either.

ArthurSpectatorExactly my problem…

2009.10.26 at 9:29 am #39622
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorand don’t forget about the i am one single. according to spfc.org it also got an american re-release in 1994, just like the three disarm singles. (no american release is mentioned for peel sessions though.)
i’ve been looking everywhere, but i don’t think i ever found any US single, except for the disarm one. i can’t remember right now, but it’s not impossible that i have two different copies. i’ll check later.
i always thought it was just hard to find a copy, because sellers on ebay hardly ever mention (correct) information about where the cd has been released. but maybe these US releases don’t exist, or maybe they’re just very rare, despite what spfc.org says.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori also have two different us disarm singles. the matrix code is completely different.
one cd has:
SP 1-1-5 EMI JAX
HUT00043-01 09-27-94
ifpi 163D[/quote:2u9230or]
the other one has:123548-C1-4070-2 DISCTRONICS USA **HUT48**
R[/quote:2u9230or]
note how it actually says HUT48 and not HUT43!reminds me of the two different american pressings of lull.
http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … &item=2065
http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … S&item=267and i double checked, and i can confirm that i don’t have any american i am one, cherub rock or today cd singles. just disarm. i remember looking for these, but never finding any.

manillascissorKeymasterThanks Eazy.
This, I think, is shedding some new light on the matter. Now I have to go see which ones I have.

manillascissorKeymasterOk… then I have 2 different Today Singles that I don’t know if they are both from UK (One has a made in Holland sticker)
Today "Mastered by Nimbus HUTCD 37"
Today "EMI Swindon 1:1:1 2 810564"
[/quote:1y3z7hx4]The one with EMI Swindon I think usually indicated a UK pressing. EMI Uden is associated with Holland. However, it could have been pressed in the UK for release in NL. Not sure how to tell.
But to me, these both scream UK antecedents.

Swindon = in the UK > pure: UK pressing…
Uden = in The Netherlands > pure: NLD (Dutch) pressing…
at least:
that’s as far as my ‘logic’ goes, right?!—
