Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori think it was the blue-green insert that put me off. it looks really crappy.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoroh yeah, i was also following that bwbw promo. i only placed a $15 bid or so, i think. i see it went for cheap though. congrats.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthat story doesn’t really change my point of view. could be true, could be false. (it doesn’t make much sense though: this is the first copy numbered out of 1000 i’ve ever seen. and i’ve seen plenty of \"2000s\". and we have a scan of #1/2000 here on spfreaks!)
either way, the cd set appears to be real, the numbering is fishy (many red flags). bid accordingly, that’s my advice. don’t let the cheaters run away with your money.
i still believe the extra-copies-story is what really happened.
what i heard is that q101 didn’t even hand out all 2000 numbered copies back in 2000. they still had quite a lot of copies at the radio station, together with a stack of unnumbered copies. every now and then they would hand out a couple of numbered copies to listeners who called in and stuff. and in the next years, all the remaining copies \"disappeared\" from the radio station.a couple of years ago (2006?) there was this seller with a handful of copies for sale on ebay (one at a time). all looked fine, but suddenly we realized something was a bit dodgy, and that’s when the lies started. \"i swear these are real\" was all the seller wanted to say. any question regarding the funny numbering was ignored.
heck, maybe (maybe!) this is even the very same seller. he stopped selling back then because it was getting a bit too hot for him. maybe he started again now, immediately going for the jackpot (1/1000) instead of trying to sell multiple copies with low numbers like he did last time.i have a bit of trouble with remembering the story, because it’s so long ago. it was on netphoria, but i think the thread got deleted.
but if i’m not mistaken, he sold two copies with the same number on ebay by contacting the second highest bidder shortly after the auction ended, saying that the winner hadn’t paid. unfortunately for the seller, the two buyers knew each other and so we found out that he was secretly trying to sell two copies with the same number.
now, it’s not impossible that q101 messed up and that there were two copies with the same number, and that this guy somehow got both of them, but the seller never gave any good answer when he was asked about it. conclusion: he was very likely numbering the cds himself. and probably made a second copy with the same number when he saw that the second highest bid was also interesting enough for him. (saved him another ebay auction.)ugh, scum.
i really hope this ebay seller is not the same person.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorlol wtf
hahahaha
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorIt’s numbered 1/1000. The Q101 cds are normally numbered as one of 2000.[/quote:2ngn1dyc]
on top of that, the spfreaks.com collection contains a scan of #0001/2000!

Be careful with this one!
It’s numbered 1/1000. The Q101 cds are normally numbered as one of 2000.
My guess is that the cd set is real, but that the numbering is fake. We’ve had problems with dodgy numbers before. Either Q101 really messed up their numbering (in that case: what value does the low numbers still have?), or they had a couple of extra copies, unnumbered, and some people got their hands on them and decided to number them with numbers that would look interesting for collectors.
Just keep that in mind before you decide to double your bid only because it’s #1/1000.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorlol what?

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorjust checked on those gish and sd vinyls and the price has already gone up again.
well, fuck that then. not that it’s expensive now, but it lost its \"absolute bargain\" appeal.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorBought me another copy of Pisces Iscariot and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness on vinyl (UK).
Boring, I know.Might buy extra copies from Gish and Siamese Dream on vinyl, because I never saw them that cheap. On the other hand, I probably have enough copies already…
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorah yes, good point. i vaguely remember that.

In early December 2006, four alleged demos from the sessions were released on file-sharing networks, though these were revealed to be a hoax. Spin later reported that they were recordings by British band Amy Blue, where the band’s frontman, Simon Chatterman, said that his band had been \"toying with the idea of pissing off a few file sharers\" and \"thought it would be funny to upload [their] EP as the Smashing Pumpkins and [with titles] from Corgan’s poetry book, Blinking with Fists.\"[18][/quote:3l73wxx4]
http://www.spin.com/articles/new-pumpkins-songs-leaked
A set of four songs that are posted on file-sharing networks under the name \"The Baker Demos\" are rumored to be from the Smashing Pumpkins’ reunion album due out next year. Whether these songs are legitimately the work of Corgan and crew is debatable, and most fans are crying, \"Faux!\" The tracks — \"Collapsing Cities,\" \"In the Eyes Beholding,\" \"The Restless World,\" and \"Siam Mais\" — are either the work of new voice-altering technology that morphs Corgan into a young British prog-version of himself or a misguided attempt at imitation.
Spin assistant editor Kyle Anderson — an unabashed Pumpkins devotee — took \"Collapsing Cities\" out for a spin. \"I was actually on board with the intro to this track — it sort of felt a bit like Adore-era stuff, especially the drum sounds and the general robotic feel of it,\" he said. \"But then the vocals kick in and it’s all over. This guy doesn’t sound a bit like Billy Corgan. If anything, he sounds like he’s trying to do a fruitier Dave Gahan.\"
In fact, Anderson wouldn’t even consider it an admirable forgery. \"At least the fake Chinese Democracy tracks kinda sorta sounded like Guns N’ Roses; whoever passed this off isn’t even trying very hard,\" he quipped. \"That’s unless Billy’s passed vocal duties off to somebody from an Interpol cover band — in which case this sounds perfect. \"[/quote:3l73wxx4]
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorfrom that same thread on netphoria: http://forums.netphoria.org/pumpkins-ar … ost2487436
(pmack = dave asselin)Probably legit. I have notes from one of my first conversations with RER (this was back in 99) when I asked him for old song titles and he mentioned \"Drowning in the Flowers\" that was done with \"Greggy\". I think he said Greggy played bass.
He’s totally insane if he thinks Billy’s going to allow that shit to be released. We (and by ‘we’ I mean ‘you’, because I don’t give a fuck about it) will never hear this music outside of clips on the Myspace page. He thinks it has monetary value (it’s likely the closest he’ll ever come to hitting paydirt), and Billy, out of embarassment over his awkward teenage rock poses, will ensure he’ll never make a nickel from it.
Dude would have been better off burning a CD and selling a bunch on eBay.[/quote:1yq6ayzq]
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori think so too. if i owned that, i’d wear it occasionally.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectator#99-15: http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … &item=2519

we seem to be missing a scan of disc two.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori didn’t buy it. arthur is talking about someone else. i am as gosh darned as you are.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectator
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoromg omg omg!

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoryou’re welcome.
i copied the names of the songs off spfreaks.com (http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … &item=1713). i didn’t have time to listen and check. i hope all is correct.
note that those 30 seconds of stained glass window, and the last two songs on side b aren’t mentioned on the j-card.
is the second to last song really unknown (i.e. not available on any other tape that is out there), or does someone know what the title is?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI tried to upload that Marked tape yesterday, but it failed. I’ll try again tonight.[/quote:3o84q4le]
here you go, bucky: http://www.mediafire.com/?mn4jzolykil
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorGood luck, guys.
Do you know if (some of) those songs were written by Billy Corgan? Or is he just playing on them? Or is even that not certain?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorNo, I don’t think I’ve seen any other videos.
I tried to upload that Marked tape yesterday, but it failed. I’ll try again tonight.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori can’t find a picture now, but i believe it was a black t-shirt, with the art from the i am one 7\" on the front.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI had never heard of Lex before.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthis \"new\" band, is it coat of arms?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoryou can conclude from that google groups conversation that dave didn’t have that tape at the time he wrote that, nor had he ever heard it.
as far as i know, none of these greta garbo tapes are available.
i also find ron roesing not very reliable as a source. he might have a hidden agenda. i mean, no offence, maybe he’s telling the truth, but he’s been saying a lot, and i haven’t seen anything ever coming from it.
i’ll upload that tape of the marked when i feel like it. this involves walking upstairs and looking for the cd, so i doubt i’ll feel like it today. maybe tomorrow, although tuesday is more likely.
