sometimes i talk out of my ass. i agree with what you just said arthur.
i think the big difference is either you have a fully playable wlp or one of the first couple pressed for quality control testing, which may not play perfectly or line up properly. then you make the adjustment, and run off some more. how many more before you check again, i wonder? i read on here earlier that mr iha had a bad pressing of his cherub rock wlp. maybe thats one of the upgraded tp’s your talking about that get used as a wlp? a third category if you will. something that still wasnt perfect, but better than the original tp, therefore considered a wlp. and then theres the plain sleeve versus the hutt sleeve. which is guess may be one the best inducators of a tp or wlp?
if all is going smoothly, we could be only about 90 days away from hearing some new material. im alright with that.

not too confusing. you answer alot of questions if you catagorize a tp / wlp as one in the same. for as far as whats been confirmed or not
i’ve seen one siva on ebay this year, and i missed the end of the auction. and then the seller who sold me the today and disarm, said they also had a siva, but then got back to me and said it was peel sessions. which made me think if it really existed.
that still leaves all the test presses of the 7” jukebox releases to be confirmed. with today phillipines being the only one pictured. and obviously there wouldn’t be promos of these, since they’re already promos.
and if there is a 1979 12” tp and a 1979 mixes tp, then there may very well be a perfect tp from virgin and hut, as well as the 3 different teitbite mix vinyls, and maybe even zero and siyl tp’s. i know these already are promos, but maybe there’s a couple tp’s of each at the factory.
and it’s sad to think the caroline tp / wlp releases don’t exist.
good theory about the gish wlp possibility. but why make a promo, if it had already been released? i didnt realze it was a caroline release first. and the same thing with the hutt pisces. that one came out 2 years after the caroline release. why make a promo for that one either? or maybe, DO make a gish or pisces
promo to promote the songs in the UK market? just a little confusing.the caroline release theory got me thinking (about everything else)
i know there is no way of knowing the absolute answers to all of these questions, but i was wondering…
is there a siva / window paine wlp? or did they not make one because they were gonna make peel sessions wlp’s a few months later? including siva on the tracklist
and how about the hut lp releases of gish, siamese, pisces, mellon collie, and machina? presumably there are test preses / wlp’s for all? and so far on the site, i see a siamese dream wlp, and a machina tp. anymore confirmed?
now the hut singles. there seems to always be the potential for a test press from every single, 7” and 12” versions. and no wlp versions of 7” singles. makes sense, kinda redundant to make wlp’s for both 12” and 7” releases. but makes sense to have test presses for both sizes.
and if i have it right, let’s use cherub rock as an example. make a 12” test press. make a 7” test press. maybe 2 or 3 of each? once its good to go, make some wlp’s to give out. (or make the test presses and the wlp’s at the same time) then make the official releases. from the same template used to make that perfected test press? i see various test presses and wlp’s for 7” and 12” singles on here.
but how about a 1979 12” wlp? do you think hut made one? or did they only do the ones for siamese dream, and then make that unique looking zero one? and then seeing the machina tp leads me to believe there is at least a hut mellon collie tp out there. and maybe a wlp for mellon collie and machina too?
and how about a test press for a jukebox release? there’s a today phillipines, but not for ava adore, perfect, teitbite, or 1979/bwbw. do they exist?
or tp’s for a 12”remix vinyl?
and there seems to be every possible version of tristessa on here. unless for some reason sub pop made a promo for the 12”
and i see there is a spot for a rhino test press. anybody ever seen that? (back to the caroline test press theory)
