CollectspumpkinsSpectatorOk, so as a collector, one of the newer labels that I have been very impressed with is Artist in Residence (http://www.ainr.com). Last year, they released 2 items on vinyl:
1) Sigur Ros–In a Frozen Sea 7LP boxset limited to 5000 copies.
2) NIN Ghosts I-IV 4LP set with 2CDs, 1 DVD and 1 Blu-Ray disc that was limited to 2500 copies and signed by Trent Reznor.
In 2009, they just released Beck’s, The Information on 4LPs, 1 10\" and limited to 3000 copies.
Future releases for this year include the Pixies, Death Cab for Cutie and more.
All of there sets are very well made (there were some issues with the some of the NIN vinyl sets, but all were replaced.)
They have a request section in their forums and you can e-mail them directly. I did e-mail them and propose that they try to work with Billy/SP on doing a limited-edition deluxe vinyl set for Zeitgeist that would contain all of the songs from the various versions (e.g. Best Buy deluxe edition, the Guitar Center \"SuperChrist\" song, maybe the \"American Gothic EP\", etc.)
Since Billy is no longer tied to Reprise Records, this may work. It took a couple of years before Beck’s The Information made it to vinyl and Beck is still in his contract.
This would be something that would appease those of us who collect SP Vinyl. There are a lot of creative things I am sure they could do. I know this is a long shot, but if we sent enough requests to them and asked them to do it, you never know, we may see Zeitgeist on vinyl, which is long overdue in my opinion.
Thoughts? Comments? Do I need to put my crack pipe down? hehehe.
If you want to e-mail them, you can e-mail support@ainr.com
Later,
Shawn
PS–the Price Guide is coming along quite nicely. Hope to have it finished soon and send it out to a few people here to review and get feedback.

SvenSpectatorsplendid idea-
indeed— splendid releases!
expensive, but well made I gather—-err-
i just don’t know the specifics of the contracts for these artists they did release-
and for TSP with Zeitgeist-
it might be Warner/Reprise does hold a claim to all the recordings-
if not this would be rather awesome-then again-
wouldn’t it be way more cool than a very expensive elaborate Zeitgeist vinyl set—-
to get from this company-
some kind of deluxe editions from the classic albums????
like true specialist/freaks sets for Gish/Siamese et al?now-
that would rock MY boat -

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI don’t think they should include Superchrist or songs from American Gothic on the Zeitgeist vinyl.
The album bonus tracks would be nice, but I’m not sure if they can do that, because I believe they have exclusivity deals with the stores they were first released in.

"Happy new year to all. We are looking forward to a great year at A+R and wanted to let you all know some of the projects scheduled for release in 2009. The Pixies, Wu Tang Clan, Death Cab For Cutie, and professional skateboarder Danny Way are just a few of the collaborations set to be released this year. Check in on the progress of these and stay tuned for more announcements."
Don’t know what Pixies item it could be since all of there releases are on vinyl and have recently been remastered and re-released.
As for the Zeitgeist Vinyl, the exclusivity deals were probably pertaining to a CD format and not a vinyl format, so that should not be an issue. I agree with American Gothic probably not being a part of it, unless it was like a separate 10". But I would like to see Superchrist on vinyl, maybe as a bonus 7" then. heh.
