Sorry for the lateness of posting this but I was having trouble logging into my account. Thanks to Arthur for helping me out. Anyways, we are doing a new SP Cover Song Contest, sponsored by SPFreaks among other SP fan sites. Below is the press release:

      FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ACT IV AND THEPUMPKINS.NET PRESENT ‘SP: THE EARLY YEARS’ COVER SONG CONTEST

Four years ago, Act IV and ThePumpkins.net collaborated on the successful Zeitgest Cover Song Contest, where fans were asked to submit covers of their favorite Zeitgeist era tracks to win some cool Smashing Pumpkins-related prizes. Now, with the recent re-issues of the first two classic Smashing Pumpkins albums, Gish and Siamese Dream, Act IV and ThePumpkins.net are collaborating to once again bring the fans another special contest.

The SP: THE EARLY YEARS COVER SONG CONTEST will be along similar lines to the Zeitgeist cover song contest. But this time around, fans are asked to submit covers of their favorite Pumpkins originals spanning the early part of The Smashing Pumpkins’ career (1988-1994), from the earliest pre-Gish demos to Pisces Iscariot and Vieuphoria. In addition to winning some great Pumpkins-related merch, the winners of the contest will earn a spot on an extended version of Ghost Children/Machines of God, a digital EP being given away as a free incentive with the Ghost Children 2/Friends and Enemies charity compilation. Two spots are up for grabs, with the ‘Best Cover Song’ being awarded by selection committee, and the ‘Fan Favorite Cover’ being selected by you, the fans!

The winners of both the ‘Best Cover Song’ and ‘Fan Favorite Cover’ selections will receive:

      1) A copy of the Deluxe CD/DVD re-issues of both Gish and Siamese Dream
      2) A spot on the extended version of the Ghost Children/Machines of God digital EP.
      3) A copy of the Ghost Children 2/Friends and Enemies charity CD, the Ghost Children/Machines of God digital EP, and a recently unearthed original CD copy of the Ghost Children compilation, not available to the public for nearly 10 years!

For the contest, organizers have reached to out all corners of The Smashing Pumpkins Fan Community for help. We are pleased to announce exciting partnerships with our Pumpkins fan site sponsors, , who will be celebrating their 15th anniversary in 2012. Act IV also would like to welcome back, Neil Main, the creator of the popular, original Ghost Children charity compilation, to the fold. Neil was also an integral participant and collaborator with the Act IV organizers during the two Act IV charity concerts at the legendary Metro in Chicago in 2001 and 2002. The organizers also welcome, Ashley Fahey, former webmaster of the Smashing Pumpkins UK fan group.

In addition, we have developed a special partnership with Nameless Entity Media (formerly Tranquilizer Records), an online radio station and fan community. All contest entrants are invited to join their fan community and contact to explore the possibility of having your cover and your original music featured on the radio (where applicable), being interviewed on air, and much more!

Depending on the success of the contest, organizers will consider the possibility of future contests and digital releases. So keep CD quality versions of your covers available, just in case! Please note that covers of songs the Pumpkins covered themselves will not be accepted. Before uploading your cover, please carefully review the .

Submissions will be accepted starting on December 21, 2011 and the contest will run until February 21, 2012.

After the submission deadline passes, voting will commence. The winners are tentatively set to be announced on March 17, 2012.

For more information about the contest, please visit website. Act IV is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary.

On another note, Nameless Entity Media, one of our sponsors is currently trying to raise funds to get a new broadcasting license. If anyone can help them by donating, that would be greatly appreciated: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/102 … icago-home

If you love music and unsigned and underground artists, please keep helping Nameless Entity Radio (formally Tranquilizer Radio https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nameless … 1671824764) be able to interview, do PR, put on events, and showcase new artists by making a donation towards growing the company in their new home, Chicago.

The demo was part of the early Mellon Collie Demos in 1994. The contest covers everything before that, not including it. "Jupiter’s Lament" is fair game if we do a Mellon Collie era contest.

The latest additions to the contest are covers of "Today" (an instrumental piano rendition), "Plume", and "Glynis".

If you’re interested in submitting, you have until February 21st! That’s 6 days away. Good luck to everyone who has submitted and will submit!

Only 1 more day left everyone! If you know anyone interested in submitting, let them know to get cracking on that cover! We have now officially surpassed the amount of entries that we received for the Zeitgeist contest with 25 entries thus far. Good luck to everyone who has submitted :).

There is a lot of covers to choose from and soon you guys will have your chance to vote for the fan favorite selection. We are going to announce the winners hopefully on Billy’s birthday.

In other news, we have some big news to report: Billy Corgan will be a judge for the SP Early Years Cover Song Contest for a new category called \"Best New Interpretation of a Song\". You can read more details here:

😯 I would be so nervous if I knew he was judging. Not that I can play music as well as any of these people![/quote:2rgncjn9]
Yeah. We will be narrowing down for him as he doesn’t have time to listen to all the covers, but I imagine everyone is nervous to see who he picks. It’s going to be very hard to pick a favorite and very hard to narrow it down for Billy for his category.

You can now vote. Please listen to all the covers before voting. You only get one vote, so make it count: http://thepumpkins.net/contests/78-sp-t … ng-contest

In case anyone missed it, the top 5 for the ‘Best New of Interpretation of A Song’ category were announced yesterday. I joined Monte on Crestfallen Radio to help him make the announcement: [url:270n7v7n]http://crestfallen.com/2012/03/06/crestfallen-radio-podcast-announcement-of-the-nominees-for-best-new-interpretation-of-a-song/[/url:270n7v7n]

We narrowed down the field of entries to 5 that we thought reflected the best of that category. Now, Billy Corgan will review those 5 songs and choose a winner. Meanwhile, the selection committee is currently busy at work to determine the winner of the ‘Best Cover Song’ category.

Remember, that you can still vote for the ‘Fan Favorite Cover’ selection. Please listen to all the entries before choosing your favorite, as you only get one vote! You have until March 16th at 7 PM Eastern Time to vote: [url:270n7v7n]http://thepumpkins.net/contests/78-sp-the-early-years-cover-song-contest[/url:270n7v7n]

Recently, Nameless Entity Media’s Jyn and her co-host, Bratley had me on their show, Chicago Underground. I talked about the contest, some background on the winners (and where to find their original music), the Ghost Children/Machines of God EP, Make-A-Wish and more. I actually felt like I talked too long, hopefully they will have more time to play more original music from related artists in the future:
      http://soundcloud.com/jynradakovits/cuwithdavid

They are always looking for new music, so if you or anyone has music that you would like to share with the world, send them a long some song links. Then it could be played on either their show or one of the others on Nameless Entity Media.
