CDs arrived today. I’ve sent to a few people to compare available quality to see if this is soundboard or ripped from radio.

If you have insight to this, let me know, I’ll send you some tracks for comparison.

Well, I just listened, but I cannot compare. Sending a FLAC or SHN file to 1 of our tech researchers (Sven or Jeroen) would work better I guess manillascissor. But Billy sure rocks out in France!

if i recall correctly there are songs missing from the setlist
same songs missing as per tv broadcast
now – the big question mark is:
      is this pre-TV or post-TV?
pre-TV would have been the recording made between the SBD and a TV-mix console
pre-TV could also have been the recording made after the TV-mix console and before the broadcast
post-TV would have been the recording made from the broadcast
since this is Delabel France, but follows the TV-broadcast, I don’t think it will be the first pre-TV option as that one would have bene complete, most likely.
I’d say fair chance this is a TV-mixed pre-broadcast rip from the edited dvd or digital video/audio file for the broadcast.
It’s kinda difficult to hear the difference between pre and post broadcast though anyway.
Still have to hear the tracks, but I guess this could be a fair assesment as of now.

      Which songs are missing?

This is really important because after listening, they (Smashing Pumpkins) performed a sort of medley during an encore that involved Drown, Porcelina, Rocket, just from memory. What I’m saying is, the tracklist that is listed by Delabel isn’t complete. There are more songs on the CDs.

      http://flac.sourceforge.net/faq.html

There I found this (links are provided on that page):

      http://flac.sourceforge.net/documentati … ml#windows

"If you want to rip CDs to FLAC, here is a short list of the most popular programs. Experts generally prefer EAC for the most accurate ripping. dbPowerAMP also does a fine job and is easier to set up.

-Windows Media Player (WMP) – Sorry, Microsoft has made it impossible to rip to FLAC in WMP; hopefully this will change eventually.
-Winamp – Winamp can rip to FLAC out of the box since version 5.31 if you download the Full version (not Lite).
-dbPowerAMP Music Converter – Install the FLAC plugin.
-Media Center/Media Jukebox – Install the Enc_FLAC plugin.
-Exact Audio Copy (EAC) – First install the official FLAC tools, then follow this guide. EAC is notoriously complex so here are some other guides: guide guide guide guide. EAC can also be set up with AutoFLAC, Omni Encoder, or MAREO to rip to FLAC or multiple formats at once.
-CDex – First install the official FLAC tools, then follow this guide."

Hey thanks Arthur! That was relatively easy.

I’ve now ripped both CDs as FLAC files. They are very large. How do I get these to the proper people?

You don’t have a fast internet connection, right? Hmmm… If you had, http://www.yousendit.com could provide a solution for that. But just 1 example file to me, and I will send it onwards might work also. Or otherwise burn both 2 cds on cd-r and send them to me in my Xmas box?

    • #18248

you can upload files to http://www.mediafire.com and then share the link with the proper people. you don’t need an account to upload files. maximum file size there is 100 mb.

i’m sorry, but i won’t have time to compare with the other sources until after the weekend. and next week i’m quite busy too. i already searched for other bootlegs here, and it looks like i have three different sources for this show, although i think one is an audience recording, so not interesting in this case.

Sure thing. Mi musica es su musica.

However, by the honor system, please keep this to fellow freaks, and if outside freakdom, to trusted individuals. I don’t know that these are of any significant higher quality (my initial guess is no), but if they are, it would be nice to be able to share them with other people who are into collecting the highest quality live shows.

I am not so much into live shows (as most of you know), but I am into rare as hell Delabel promos. ;)

I really do hope the quality is better, to at least justify what I dropped on the CDs. If not, oh well, I still think they are awesome.

Speaking of which (kinda), spfc.org still says that the Machina II in-house acetates are not legitimate. Anyone have proof of their authenticity? UK or US set?

SPFC.org should be updated. They are the only source telling the MII acetates are not legitimate, and I think that info is from the period that they didn’t know better. They are genuine, really.

i have a couple of hundreds of bootlegs at home. ;)
all i had to do was locate the correct pile and then in that pile, find the correct cds.

Well, just a cursory comparison of that file to some on these CDs, the source is quite obviously different, so that’s intriguing at least. Thanks!

Meanwhile I uploaded the pics, thanks manillascissor! Is that \"date of release\" of 2000/11/?? right by the way? I don’t know the French broadcast date… It makes sense to put it in the same month or 1 month later, I guess.

      http://www.spfreaks.com/Default.aspx?pa … &item=2539

This is what is said on SPLRA.org by the way. They can change it to \"surfaced\" I guess.

      Unsurfaced Recordings

      SBD #1
      Source SBD
      Format CDR
      Equipment Unknown
      Length 105m
      Complete? No
Notes Recorded by OuiFM. Delabel promo discs exist.

Also, 2000 10 19 I guess was date of broadcast. Not sure if that’s date of show, and definitely have no idea when this promo was released. Could have been early 2001 for all we know.
