I just got my counting crows Live Cd in the mail today… here is what it looks like.

      [/url:6m8iswkf”>

I figured this is what the pumpkins will look like. I think its a bit pricey for a CDr

Thanks a lot for posting those pictures!

I also expect them to look like this, but with different artwork on both the sticker and the cd.

I agree that $22 is quite expensive for a cd-r. We have to be fair though, it is most likely that you’re getting 2 cd-rs. But still. $22 for two cd-rs is not cheap. The sticker and the way they print the artwork on the cd don’t look too crappy though. Could have been a lot worse.

Oh, and did I understand this correctly: is shipping to anywhere in the world included in that $22?

      I pre-ordered a couple of shows : Chicago 18 & 19 November.
I selected \"France\" in the shipping address, and I paid ~ $US39, so I suppose shipping is included ?!?
If I receive my cds one day… I will share it with you on this forum :)

Yes, it’s very expensive for a CD-R but it’s less expensive (for me, a little frenchy 8) ) than going to the show in Chicago !

If you buy both shows from th same venue it is $39.50. There is an upgrade button once you add them to the cart.

Looks like it’s going to be a rather nice release.

      http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/pages/a … umpkinscom

\"every night after each show, hard drives of the hi-resolution multi-track recordings are sent to the band’s engineer who then mixes and edits the shows. The only edits involved are splitting the show into individual songs – there are no other edits made to the recordings.\"

\"The packaging that comes with the physical CD is tri-fold (in other words, it holds up to three CDs) chipboard (and for your environmental conscience, each is produced on demand and is made from 100% post-consumer recycled cardboard). The packaging is branded with customized Smashing Pumpkins artwork, and each release includes the track listing, show date and whatever other information pertains to the release. The artwork is similar to the digital art available, though formatted for the tri-fold packaging. While the CDs are not glass mastered, they are of the same quality. According to a rep from livesmashingpumpkins.com, Kufala, the company handling the CDs, \"utilizes state of the art robotic CD burning technology that replicates an identical copy to the original master. […] Kufala replicates at a slow speed to ensure the highest quality replication possible, [and utilizes] Tayio Yuden 80 minute professional grade blanks. […] On-disc art is thermally printed onto the CD.\" Kufala similarly handles the live recordings of Pearl Jam, Phish, Widespread Panic, The Black Crowes, Crowded House and many other artists.\"

I’m not sure if they will become rare. They’ll always keep the masters, and will make as much copies as there is demand. This isn’t a limited edition.

Arthur, that’s a nice explanation, but does it tell us anything new? Do you think the SP shows will look any different than the Counting Crows cds in the first post? I think they will look exactly the same: cd-rs, cardboard sleeve, sticker.

Agree. But the CD will not be produced for a long time I guess, as it’s a bit of a hassle. People feeling sorry after a certain period might want to pay something extra for a certain concert or the whole set. Who knows, the collectors’ world is crazy and unpredictable sometimes. All I know is, I have my 20th Anniversary Tour Package set ordered already, and I’m gonna enjoy it big times, both as a Smashing Pumpkins (live) music addict and as a Smashing Pumpkins silver disc collector! 8)

On 2008-11-01, the track transition from Owata to Sunkissed is definately flawed. And I think the transition from Sunkissed to Song For a Son is also not seamless.

Edit: The transition from Tarantula to Glow sounds odd, too.
Edit2: There’s also a short dropout with diginoise (haven’t heard that in a while) after Disarm at 3:07.

      Additionally, there’s a SBE on \"As Rome Burns\". Here’s the shntool output:[/quote:alb9n1ue]

yeah and I keep emailing the guys of nugs.net….
at least the halloween concert was fixed so far. So keep complaining kids.[/quote:alb9n1ue]

The transition from Superchrist to As Rome Burns is fixed. But now the transition from Speed Kills to Superchrist is fucked up (short dropout).[/quote:alb9n1ue]

I don’t understand how someone who is a sound engineer for a band like the Smashing Pumpkins isn’t able to prepare a decent master.

Sector boundary errors can easily be fixed (but they can also easily be avoided), but gaps or repeated audio are a lot more work to fix. Also, it’s a shame if they would sell cds with mistakes like these.
nugs.net should request a new (flawless) master for every show with mistakes.

First it was 23 shows. The Tour Package was already available then, and that’s when you bought it. (Well, your employer did.)

Then they had problems recording one show (16 November), one show got rescheduled (Auditorium Theatre II – this doesn’t affect the number of shows, I know, but I’m mentioning it anyway, to be complete), and they added two more shows (Ogden Theatre and Aragon Ballroom).
      That makes 24 shows.

Not sure if you get all 24 if you bought the Tour Package. I guess so, but maybe you should send them an email and ask.

The value of the dollar is decreasing again. It becomes more interesting to buy the cds. I think they cost about 12.5 euro per show right now.

Indeed. That is for the tour package deal, right? Are you thinking of ordering it anyway?

    • #24922

Still a bit too expensive. And they’re just cd-rs. So right now, it’s still a no. Maybe another day. I have the flacs of every show anyway.

I am pretty pumped to see what the complete set looks like. I have been holding out, trying to figure out if it is worth getting. I wish they were limited to a certain number; I would be more likely to buy it. I just figure you can log in and buy them as long as the service is still offered ( not out of business, as many companies are going now).

i thought they had finally arrived… well, almost… i hope it arrives soon.

i can imagine how the complete 24-shows set will look like. we know how one show looks like. so, that, but 24 times.
the artwork looks nice, but there’s no variation, i think. it’s just a similar sticker for each show, with a different date and location, and a different tracklist (well, not always, he he he).

i really doubt the complete set will come in some kind of box. although that would make it quite cool, if that was the case.

Here are some pics I took with my mobile phone, so excuse me for the really bad quality. My digital camera was not at hand… :(

All 24 cds are individually sealed in plastic, and they arrived in perfect condition. As you can see in the pictures, they come in a cardboard box with a sticker on the side (only 1 side). But it is too large for the 24 cds, and I can hardly call it a \"boxed set\", I think the hardcore collectors can agree on that. But of course I will keep the whole set as it is, for collecting purposes…

Just wanted to let people know about the problem I had that meant my set cost me a lot more than it was sold to me for.

I live in the UK and I ordered the whole set before they had even finished them. A couple of weeks ago I got a card through my door from the delivery depot saying the set had been opened and that I had to pay the equivalent of $105 duty (tax) before it would be released and delivered. I was naive, and impatient – eager to get my hands on it, so I stupidly paid up. I have since exchanged e-mails with the Nugs.net Helpdesk.

They said that everything is sent out marked as a gift, so I shouldn’t have to pay anything, and that I should of not paid………..then the set would have been sent back to the United States and I would have got a full refund. At the time, I had already paid a lot for the set, and I didn’t want to be left with no money or CDs.

So the warning for other buyers is to be patient, and refuse delivery if they have a similar situation.

    • #24971
