This was brought to my attention by Sven. What is the meaning behind the promo color of the Earphoria disc that differs big times from the commercial release? Honouring the original 1994 promo? Hmmm… Check this out:

      1994 US promo

      2002 UK promo

      2002 US promo

      2002 UK commercial release

      2002 US commercial release

Even the Vieuphoria dvd was released with that other colorscheme…

      meaning?[/quote:1en64m74]

i just pointed this out to Arthur-
      cause it’s not just funny-
      it’s a VERY deliberate choice-
      you don’t JUST switch colours—-

the 1994 promo was blue with red hearts-
the new promos are blue with red hearts-
the commercial releases including the dvd are reversed-

      now-
if you’d wanna differentiate between the original 1994 promo which is rare as fuck and thus expensive at auctions and such—-
you would expect the new promos to follow the suit of the commercial release-
so that’s not the point of why-

if you’d wanna differentiatie betwen the promo and the commercial release this kinda makes sense-
but it really doesn’t as a lot of promo releases are basically the commercial release witha different sleeve denoting the promotional code and nature or even less: a sticker…

      so-
      why?
i don’t know; it just occured to me-
and i find it kinda funny-
and kinda triggered my curiosity, that’s why i told Arthur about it-

does anyone have a valid idea as to why the promos use the old colour scheme and the commercial releases reverse this?

      also-
different glass masters were used for this production run-
      see the matrix codes::::

USA promo matrix – 70876 1754728AVRE1 MASTERED BY EMI MFG 1-1-1 IFPI L044 ifpi 1686
USA commercial matrix – 70876 1754728AVRE1 1-1-2 IFPI L044 MASTERED BY EMI MFG. IFPI 1668
(interesting note – note the typo in the IFPI code!!!)
      >>> i.e. same glass master basically, but glass master nr.2 for the run from which the cd on SPFreaks was made…

      UK promo matrix – EMI UDEN CDPHUT 79 @ 1 1-1-1-NL IFPI L046 ifpi 15DD
      UK commercial matrix – EMI UDEN 5427062 @ 1 1-1-19-NL IFPI L046 ifpi 15AF
      >>> i.e. from the release code the same glass master, but wit the added/edited nr.19 (international glass master nr.19 for full production that is basically; could possibly be the nineteenth master UDEN made for the full run to be pressed as you need numerous glass masters for mass production)

      hmmmm—-

does someone OWN a glass master?
does someone collect these? own these? hunt these down?
      i mean-
there are people that own pressing plates for vinyl-
basically this is the same deal, i.e. a "negative" of the actual cd….
for full press runs in the thousands there are NUMEROUS glass masters around somewhere ;)
just curious again, that’s all ;)

      cheers!
