Yesterday, a meeting was scheduled between representitives of Starla/SPLRA (Milan, NL), SPFC (Davin, US) and SPfreaks (Shannen & undersigned, NL). Also Brian, a good friend of Davin, joined in.

      Davin & Arthur exchanging cellphone#s

After a smoke @ Bull Dog, a beer somewhere else, another smoke, and another beer on another location, and another smoke again… making plans to overtake netphoria, blamo, hipstersunited and thepumpkins.net, deciding if we should just delete them or sell them to SP.com, exchanging the hottest gossips about THE band, making a research trip to the Melkweg venue (where the Smashing Pumpkins played a secret gig in December 1995, as the kickoff of their successful Mellon Collie world tour), we finally managed to talk like mature people also. So we talked a little about married life, work and the likes. Not too long though.

All in all, we had good times! 8)
Nice meeting you, Davin! Finally! 8)

Chicago. He’s on a pre-marriage holiday, enjoying his last moments being unmarried…

He spoke very good words about his future wife Emily, which he knows for many years now. Davin is an impressive guy (in many ways  ), he knows the Pumpkins at least since early 1992, as he still remembers the first cassette of Gish he listened to in 1992, and the very first SP concert he wanted to attend (in April 1992 if I remember well), but he missed it because the other band (Guns ‘n’ Roses) chickened out on the second night… And man, all the details he knows about the band, all the funny anecdotes he shared, he’s like a passionate, talking, waterfall! It was awesome to hang out with him for a few hours, and I felt sorry to say goodbye. But we had to travel back far, and the next day, duty called again… But we exchanged phonenumbers, and promised to stay in touch. And we are, every free minute we have, we send a short email to each other. Pretty cool. Also I’m trying to arrange an appointment with Melkweg, to check their archives for December 1995, how they managed to have the Pumpkins playing a secret gig there as the start of their almost 2 year long Mellon Collie world tour. We went there and we managed to get the email address of the responsible person for the Melkweg Archives, so hopefully something comes out of that… Keep you posted!

yea, i had an amazing time. amsterdam and brussels are both beautiful cities with rich culture and great sights to see. i enjoyed the trip very much. and yes….the waffles, mussels, chocolate, bier and cannibis added to the positive experience even more! ;-) having been to las vegas so many times with my male friends, it was nice to visit a different \"sin city\" for a change.

it was really nice meeting/seeing everyone. i’ve often mentioned how the best parts of all the 2007 and 2008 shows was the opportunity to meet online fans face to face. its amazing how 1 common bond like the love of a band can help open doors and create friendships that may have not otherwise been started because of cultural or geographic divides.

Davin, I’ve arranged an interview with John van Luyn, the guy that managed to hire the Pumpkins in 1995! Also, he is diving in the Melkweg Archives today to check what is left of contracts, posters, etc. (but he warned already that he is afraid that most will be destroyed already…) 8)

i hope they didn’t destroy that stuff. why would they do that anyway, to make room for other stuff that they will destroy at a later date? why have an archive if they are gonna do that. i am keeping my fingers crossed that they didn’t.
