Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthe freak promo is the only one of the four listed above i am still looking for.
i recently won the fellowship (but the seller hasn’t sent it yet).
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorso frustrating.
of course i can’t know how much the winning bidder has bid, but i think i had a good chance of outbidding him or her with the amount i was going to bid.
i just wanted to avoid bidding that amount and then seeing other people adding another $20 or $30 before giving up. sometimes i don’t care, but this time i went for the snipe, and i lost it. that’ll teach me, i guess.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoraw, shit!
i was going to bid on a freak promo on ebay, but was going to wait until the last seconds. unfortunately, ebay had logged me out, but i hadn’t realised this. so i was too late, obviously. the promo went for only $16. foooooooooook!
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthis is what i remember from the interview – probably not entirely correct, and only a part of it:
– this [adore] is a very personal record
– nah, people think it is, but it’s more like a record for the world
– but some songs are about the death of your mother, that’s very personal
– i don’t know what to say to that– how do you write a song?
– well, i go over to james’ and first we have a coffee and a tea, and then i give him a massage and then we start talking. about anything. …
– but i mean, was it different for this album than for the previous ones?
– oh, i see. yeah. (+ typical answer about writing and recording a song on the same day)– i don’t believe you
– that’s ok, i don’t believe you.
– ok, what do you wanna talk about?
– jet airplanes, … (more random stuff)so yeah, he was being a bit of an ass that day.
james also said a couple of words, but not much. he tried to be funny, but i think he failed.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectator1998 backstage Pinkpop Festival, when Billy was acting very childish and stupid, which she blamed him for…[/quote:1wxc6k3u]
if this was shown on tv, i believe i’ve seen it. i might even have it on a vhs cassette somewhere.
it was an interview with billy and james and at the end, they run away to say hi to the people from garbage who apparently just arrived.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoryeah, i’ve seen that one before.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorAnd I don’t think it is HEAL ME, but REAL DIE, on that cassette.[/quote:2dp30u3c]
i don’t think so.
i think it says "heal me".2011.05.24 at 2:58 pm in reply to: For the freakin’ country collectors: Zeitgeist CD by country #2610
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorPurple cover is what I think it means. A purple cover was the standard release in the UK, unlike the red in the US.[/quote:3pdbgakk]
yep.2011.05.23 at 8:56 am in reply to: For the freakin’ country collectors: Zeitgeist CD by country #2605
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorwhat makes you think the cd won’t be purple (like all other zeitgeist cd releases)???
my guess is that this is just a funny scan of the \"normal\" uk yellow edition. but who knows…
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorlooks like \"semi-new acoustic\" to me.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorare you offering to provide the tracks, so i can compare them, or are you asking if it’d be helpful if you compared some tracks yourself?
in the case of providing them: that’s very nice of you, but i own it all myself/have access to it online. so there’s no need.
unless that german promo contains another transfer than the one we’re expecting. i don’t have access to that one.in the case of doing some comparing yourself: be my guest.
if you can rip a song or two, three from that german promo once it arrives, i wouldn’t mind confirming where it comes from.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatordon’t pay too much attention to me, by the way. this is just one of those random thoughts. but i’d find it cool if i could look into this, find the answer and let it behind me.
still have to do this, btw. it’s on my todo list.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatordifferent takes? no. it’s clearly the same recording. right?
mastered differently? definitely.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori’ll compare the \"virgin promo\" to the officially released tracks again, but i doubt my ears will be able to hear the difference. my ears aren’t very good.
do more people notice a big difference in quality when comparing the known vinyl transfers (the \"virgin promo\" in particular) to the officially released tracks?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectator3- mII tracks released officially > those are non-vinyl from the master reels/takes.[/quote:1yhpfgjy]
yeah, this is also what i’ve always heard/read. but how exactly do we know this? is it just the most logical guess, or has this been checked or confirmed?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori don’t know! this was stored somewhere in my memory, but if you guys haven’t heard about it, it must be false. maybe i was getting confused about this copy and i thought they handed it out to random people instead of the record company.
also, maybe they say \"cd master\", because for their promo, whatever cd they got from billy was the cd master.
i don’t think billy would give a way a non-vinyl source of this album just like that. doesn’t match the whole plan. sometimes i even wonder if the couple of machina II tracks that were officially released on cd were sourced from the vinyls. i wouldn’t be too surprised.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoris that gish lp the latest reissue (probably still in print)? was that one already around back in ’96?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthe \"first fast rip\" is the eric agnew version. he’s also the one who recorded the soundboard recordings on this last european tour.
his (complete) machina II transfer is available here: http://www.archive.org/details/machina.II.ver.Agnew
maybe you can compare once you receive the promo.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorwhich transfer is it then?
and is this one of the cds the band handed out to fans during their tour in europe?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori’ve always assumed there were less than 100 copies, but that’s because that’s the only number i ever read. if i think about it, there might as well be more copies, although i’m not suddenly convinced that there definitely are.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoroh, wow!
what transfer did they use for that cd? is it the same as the \"virgin promo\"?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI have no idea if I make sense here, but I think the grey pressing will exceed the number of 200-300 pressed by far. I’m more thinking of 1,000 – 1,500 (same as I Am One vinyl). My guts feeling says that the grey pressing for Tristessa is just as much on the market as the I Am One 7". I can not really proof that, so I might be completely wrong here. Shoot this to pieces, if you like.
But also, when I compare the Tristessa grey vinyl with another rarity like La Saga Racontee CD (approx. 125 pressed) then I see the grey pressing for Tristessa around 10-15 times more on the market. So both ways I reach a number of 1,000 – 1,500 pressed for Tristessa grey vinyl. No?[/quote:19m3e2o2]
i don’t agree with this way of thinking.i don’t think the grey tristessa has the same ebay presence as the i am one 7". (but then that’s just my feeling, of course.)
on top of that, the amount of copies on the market does not necessarily represent the amount of copies pressed. it’s not because you see the grey tristessa ten times more than that french promo cd, you can calculate 10 * 125 = 1250 and assume that’s a good estimate for the amount of grey tristessa vinyls pressed. i can see the logic behind that, but why would it work like that? that french cd is so rare. how many times have you seen it for sale? i think the error margin is way too big here. maybe for items that were made in larger quantities (thousands) this method of estimation might work better.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori think the original pressing invoice will say something like:
– pink: 4500
– black: 3000
without any mention of the grey copies.so i guess the actual pressing quantities are the same, minus the grey copies.
pink: 4500 – x
black: 3000 – y
grey: x + y
(x or y can be 0. x + y is estimated to be around 200-300.)2500 pink copies doesn’t make sense. the black vinyl copies are definitely rarer than the pink ones, no?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorfound a zeitgeist vinyl. sealed. finally!
