the guy who transferred these tapes thought this about the three transfers:

I thought the tp2 sounded a bit better, probably due to a different channel balance.
But if the balance was fixed, it’s possible it’s a dead heat, or even that the other tape \"wins\".

it’s a press conference with billy and james. the press is from all over the world, including south america, europe and australia.
i split the whole thing into tracks, as that seemed more practical than one huge file per tape side.

i don’t require credit. and i paid the guy to do the transfers, so i don’t think he needs any either.

yeah, i did this, but had crossfades (on accident) between each track. so their answers beginning and ending were crossfaded with the interviewer asking questions. it was super lame. i did another join of the files without the crossfades and am uploading now. i don’t know if you can put links on youtube descriptions? i guess i’ll try.

it is not unlikely to have been in hollywood as they were playing two shows there the next two days (21 and 22 october): http://www.splra.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tsp1993
the days before, they had two shows in san francisco.

so yeah, hollywood seems like a good guess, but i’m not sure. it could have been anywhere.

this is certainly not my forte. my guess is the interview was held somewhere in LA. hollywood is just a portion of LA, and LA is freaking huge. makes sense to refer to hollywood even though you’re not really there – it’s more of an colloquialism than a city.

anyway, if he says hollywood, and that’s all we got, then hollywood it is. funny how things like this pop up after over 20 years. up until now, it was as if this press conference had never happened.

similar: i found a zwan interview too. it’s on a cd-r (from a radio station? record company rep?). i don’t think this was out before, and i don’t see the interview listed on splra.org. i hope to share this interview soon.
