in reply to: MCIS Reissue #47039

i don’t think i can afford two more copies of this \"to collect all colours\". :?

in reply to: MCIS Reissue #47037

so, if i get this right, these have been confirmed:
    – US: blue
    – EU: blue and purple

has anyone seen a purple US one?

in reply to: MCIS Reissue #47036

    US – blue:

in reply to: lying to us #47319

so what exactly are you saying about income tax? i’m getting mixed messages here.

in reply to: lying to us #47317

I was reading today about income tax not existing before 1913 – gotta wonder how we (or the govt) survived before then….hmmm :?:[/quote:2qt23uk9]
i bet a huge amount of people didn’t.

Well, to be complete, i think this copy comes from a professional source cause the running time appear on top of the screen. No "Bio Channel" logo…
the dvd itself is like the Oceania one featuring in the promotional set (blue surface ); is to say a burned copy? today, it’s confusing myself with these "promotional" dvd because of the blue surface… and despite the matrix number.
Now with no more info i (we) cannot say if it is an "official" or not, an in-house working copy?
is there someone who can help us?[/quote:xwvrzl5w]
well, that’s interesting, that there’s no logo and that it has the running time.
that points in the direction of it actually being a real promo. cool!

if the surface is purple or blue, then it’s burned.
this doesn’t mean it’s a bootleg. it just means it hasn’t been factory pressed, like almost all commercial and some promotional releases.
normally, burned copies won’t have a proper matrix number (that is, properly linked to the factory or to the release). there will be a number there, but it’ll just be the number that was on the empty dvd+r or dvd-r. (if you buy a writable dvd in the shop, it’ll also have a "matrix number".)

what could also help with this release is a screenshot/still or two. can you make and share some screenshots? thanks!

New thread direction: Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness Deluxe Edition, felt colour (blue vs. purple)

I did a Google image search and found these:

:::: THE "BIOGRAPHY CHANNEL" GERMAN PROMOTIONAL DVD INCLUDING THE "CHRIS ISAAK HOUR SHOW" ::::[/quote:27jp665c]
that sounds interesting. tell me more! what is this?[/quote:27jp665c]

    INTERESTING, THAT’S THE WORD!
THIS DVD’S FEATURING A WORKING BAND MASTER (FOR PROFESSIONAL, DVD IMAGE QUALITY) WITH THE ENTIRE SMASHING PUMPKINS SHOW ( A NEARLY 40 MINUTES LONG ).I WILL SCAN IT TO BE INCLUDE IN OUR COLLECTING ARCHIVE! :P[/quote:27jp665c]
i see that the scans have been added already: http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=COLLDETAILS&item=3856

any chance this isn’t an official release? it looks like it could be a bootleg.

several sources of these exist(ed) online. http://www.splra.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tsp2008-12-01
i have this on dvd. i think i downloaded it off dimeadozen.org back in 2009. it’s not unlikely someone got that, or another source, and created this promo-like copy.
right? (like someone did with those "black sessions".)

is this a (burned) dvd-r? (like you could make at home?)

[edit] let me word this differently: can you share a screenshot or two of this dvd? it might be a serious upgrade to what is already out there. [/edit]

    thx!

in reply to: Unique New Zealand Today Cassette!!!! #47271

i don’t have 33. i’m not too big on cassettes. i got the albums, a couple of diddle-doos here and there, and then it stops.

but i should check them. it’s not unlikely that i have a copy of pisces or something that isn’t on the site yet.
    everyone, check yer cassettes!

in reply to: Unique New Zealand Today Cassette!!!! #47267

hey look everyone what i found in my collection the other day i was just going through it and i found this a sealed pisces iscariot vinyl numbered seven out of two thousand yes the one with the bonus seven inch these are hard to find even if you’re in belgium like me also it is number seven and it comes with a seven inch and one day i had seven biscuits so i was like this can’t be a coincidence it’s a sign! i did very well to find this

in reply to: Unique New Zealand Today Cassette!!!! #47265

let’s not forget that one of the tapes was just sitting in the collection. surely it isn’t that hard to find a tape that’s already in your collection (no matter where you live – new zealand or not)?

in reply to: Price of sealed ’91 Gish vinyl? #47292

    excellent.

in reply to: Price of sealed ’91 Gish vinyl? #47290

you don’t need the matrix code to be sure here. the barcode alone sets it apart already. there is no doubt.

for that incomplete entry on spfreaks.com, i would change one of the two release codes to CAROL 1705, which is on the label, and on the spine of the sleeve. (or at least add it to one of the codes.)

    the matrix codes are: \"CAR-1705-A HUTLPX-2A-1\", and \"CAR-1705-B HUTLPX2B-1\".

thanks, sven. that’s interesting. i also have a EU copy, but it’s blue.

any chance you could post a picture of the purple in your copy?

in reply to: Price of sealed ’91 Gish vinyl? #47288

Gish was not released on vinyl in the US in ’91. This didn’t happen.
    This is the 2000-ish reissue.

I know it’s confusing, because the sleeve tries to look like a 1991 release. But it does in fact contain the remastered audio, even though it doesn’t explicitely say so.
The matrix code on the vinyl even contains the \"HUTLPX2\" id. (How could they have known about the ’94 remastered Gish id back in 1991?)

I definitely agree with the advice: pass on this one.
I don’t want to judge the seller, as I don’t know if he means well or not. Is he lying on purpose, or does he really believe what he’s saying (that they actually ordered this recent reissue back in ’91 – and weren’t able to sell it in the mean time)? To me, it sounds fishy, to say the least. Stay away.

in reply to: Price of sealed ’91 Gish vinyl? #47283

yeah, be careful with \"original 1991 pressings\" of gish.
just like manilla, the only sealed copy i’ve ever seen, is the \"carol 1705\" US repressing.
those aren’t rare or old at all. ten years ago, you could buy them everywhere (they were still in record shops too), and the went for $10-15.

this is the US reissue on caroline (from 2000-ish?): http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … &item=2667
note that this is the ’94 remaster, same audio as hutlpx2. even though the word \"remastered\" is nowhere on the album.

this is the ’94 UK reissue, on Hut, remastered: http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … &item=1891

this is the original ’91 first pressing from Germany, CARLP16: http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … &item=2901
and this is the other ’91 pressing, from the UK, on Hut, HUTLP2: http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … &item=1890

and if you really want to go gish crazy, there’s also a korean pressing available: http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … &item=1104

none of these are worth anything near $120, in my opinion.

that sounds interesting. tell me more! what is this?

    aight. thanks!

    thanks.
do you have a US copy? if so, i think it’s not unlikely that all are blue… if someone has purple, please come forward.

arthur, don’t you have two US copies? what colour is on the inside of the cd book on your copy?

other question: has anyone ever seen a purple cd book?
or does the purple only appear on that one promotional picture? (i guess the promo pic could just be a digital representation of what the box set was supposed to look like; that it’s not an actual picture of a real box set. that doesn’t seem impossible to me. maybe they just got to colour wrong while creating the promo pic?)

any US mcis deluxe box set owners, maybe?

    pi remastered cd us
    pi remastered 2lp us
    pi remastered promo cd japan
    mcis remastered 5cd+dvd us
    mcis remastered 2cd canada
    tafh 5lp us

it’s weird though: the inside of the cd+dvd book of mcis deluxe US is also blue, just like my EU copy. same colour.
i thought it was going to be a bit more purple, like in this picture:
