Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorBut I spend quite some time trying to find my copy of Siamese Dream on black vinyl, but it is hidden somewhere… No idea where. I’m sure I have it, I even remember buying it in Belgium in 2008! Instead I found my copy of Siamese Dream on pink vinyl, but no way I’m going to play that.[/quote:2asj10io]
i was wondering, which SD pressing on black vinyl do you have? is it the fairly recent caroline repressing, or the original hut uk pressing?
also, why is there no way you’re going to play SD on pink vinyl?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori wish i had a technics record player.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori just noticed this picture as part of this spfreaks collection entry:
http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=IMGVIEW&item=14135
http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=COLLDETAILS&item=3786the entry is the US deluxe edition (5cd+dvd) of MCIS.
but the picture looks like a picture of the EU box: there’s no piracy warning or "parental" warning of some kind (typically only on US releases) on the back insert, for example. and it shows the incorrect book, just on the page where it’s most easily recognised: the page with the credits. note how the "dvd" credits aren’t there. i believe i can see a sticker on that page too.[/quote:25gn102i]
bump.
request for correction.another thing that indicates that it’s the EU release: that german FSK label on the dvd.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori was thinking siamese dream or cherub rock, but don’t ask me why.

Plain copies of this box set (no autographs) sell on Amazon for US$165-US$340, so I have set a realistic price for an autographed version. [/quote:2aac2efi] lol!

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorhas anyone reported his accounts to ebay, or is there no way to easily report people who bid on their own auctions? (i know it’s easy to report other things that break the rules.)
surely it should be fairly easy for ebay to check a claim like this, and act on it if it appears to be true.2013.03.13 at 7:15 am in reply to: TRISTAN HALL: BUYERS BEWARE (EBAY FRAUD INFORMATION INSIDE) #46721

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatornote that there are two different 1979 promos: one has the hut logo, the other one has the virgin logo.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorah yes, jeroen, you mentioned that you already managed to get your incorrect book replaced by the correct one.
how did you manage this? did you switch with someone else who had the other incorrect book? did you let the shop handle it? or did you get directly in contact with emi?
thanks.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori finally found out what the emi representative had to say about the incorrect book in the vinyl box set. he claimed that this is normal, and that all boxes are made in america, so that there isn’t much that they can do about it.
can you believe that? (how rude!)
the friendly lady from the shop seemed more upset than me when i told her that these claims are incorrect. i then mailed her a load of pictures that illustrate that there is an american and a european release, and most importantly, that there is a clear difference between the book from the cd+dvd box set and the one from the vinyl box set. (thanks for your picture, jeroen. that was very helpful.)
she will now get back in touch with the emi representative and ask for a solution.to be continued.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatornice. i hope it won’t be too hard to get a copy though.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori guess i should also upload that freak version of "the sacred and profane" that has both the drum loop intro and outro. it would be interesting to find out where that track came from.[/quote:2g5j0h7v]
here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/?s7uiqa61met15l9i named it "alternate mix 2". thing’s gotta have a name.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorso is this tristan person denying that he is bidding like a noob on joanna’s auctions? and if not, can he give a reason why he was bidding like that on this \"poor girl’s\" moon demo tape auction? (i even saw him retract a $52 bid, only to bid around $100 a bit later. lol!)
i can imagine this little forgotten fact doesn’t really fit in his story. so i thought i’d mention it, just for completeness sake.
i wonder what the IP check will reveal…

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori should also add that on all releases, with exception of that \"premaster\" cd-r, the track lengths are the same. so i think it is very likely that all releases (except that \"premaster\" cd-r) share the same source.
i assume the EU versions of this cd-r were copied from a copy of a US version cd-r. and maybe the french one got copied from a UK one later on. possibly. (i don’t really know if delabel’s mainly connected to london, or directly to america.) but in the end they all come from the same \"original source\", which must be what the band handed to the record company at the end of 1999.
i guess i should also upload that freak version of \"the sacred and profane\" that has both the drum loop intro and outro. it would be interesting to find out where that track came from.

Also, lol @ the feedback he left himself: "Great seller. Very nice and very honest!"
How convenient to get some feedback like that every once in a while. Especially if you’re planning to scam people.
(Why would anyone ever write that after buying a BMW sunshade? "Ooh, my package has arrived. Let’s have a look… Oh my, great sunshade. I like it. Very nice and very honest!")2013.03.05 at 8:28 am in reply to: TRISTAN HALL: BUYERS BEWARE (EBAY FRAUD INFORMATION INSIDE) #46705
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorhe was the guy who was adamant that the wooden SD box was an official release. his argument: because i *know* it.
looks like we’ve finally gotten our arguments through to him (mainly thanks to geo, i assume): http://www.ebay.com/itm/321084373773

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorok, i checked and listened and stuff.
the ones that are now listed as having the alternate mixes indeed have the alternate mixes: http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=COLLTRACK&track=10461
(i can’t verify this one, but manilla just did: http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=COLLDETAILS&item=1088)i couldn’t find any other cd with the alternate mixes, except one: that mysterious \"premaster\" cd-r. i believe this is the version that first leaked. no idea where it came from. the fact that bits are missing from some (or all?) the tracks makes it even weirder, in my opinion.
[/quote:20chh9ju]
anyway, i compared all alternate mixes over those different releases, including that \"premaster cd-r\", and they all sound the same.manilla, you’re right: the alternate mix for the sacred and profane has that drum loop intro. another difference is that a very similar drum loop is in the outro of the officially released song, but it’s not there in the alternate (early) mix.
and another easy way to hear the difference between the two age of innocence mixes is to listen to the very end.now the weirdest thing is that i found these two flac files saved under \"machina promo tracks\". i must have downloaded them online somewhere a long time ago (from some messageboard? the hub? – they may not always have been flac files; i may have converted them from .wav or .shn), but they weren’t part of a whole album download. it was just those two alternate mixes. now age of innocence is all normal, and has the same length as that \"premaster\" cd-r, so it might come from there. but the sacred and profane both has the drum loop intro and the drum loop outro! none of the releases i checked have this.
so there has to be another source out there, that has both. a cd-r we haven’t found yet? an other source? or would it be possible that someone constructed this track, by combining the alternate mix with the officially released version? no idea.that is all for now.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI understand but any help would be nice! The annoying thing is i could have bought that UK promo with alternate mixes that was only pit on sp freaks a few months back but i didnt know what it was at the time ffs[/quote:3o9kwjzf]
at that time, nobody knew that this cd had the alternate mixes. first you need to get the cd, then you need to listen.so far, only a couple of cd-rs have the alternate mixes. most of them don’t.
