Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorbut that is just a guess.
it doesn’t match with what aspecialkid said on netphoria: http://forums.netphoria.org/trading-pos … -flac.html
a long, long, time ago, in a place, far, far away.
billy was still with virgin and was going to release machina 2 in CD form. virgin made a couple "in house promos" from tigerghortys "sp.com webmasters" machina 2 vinyl.
the top people along with billy were trying to figure out ways to market/release the 4 CD set. it gets a little fuzzy here but billy wanted to release like half of it, and give the second half away for free. virgin, thinking of money said something like we dont even know if we can sell it, why would we give part of it away for free? i guess durring this time was the fallout between virgin and SP.
so in a nutshell BC says fuck it, and just gives it away for free at his website. [/quote:lw8k5vcz]So you’re saying the Machina II vinyls were made, given away and even converted to in-house promos before Billy decided to give it away?
I’m confused. I always thought Billy decided to make vinyls and to give them away after Virgin refused to release Machina II.[/quote:lw8k5vcz]
you are correct. the vinyls were pressed, virgin used tigershortys copy to make a promo to try to figure out how to release this long album. at first machina 2 was going to be sold and not givin away. then billy had a fallout with virgin, and said fuck it and gave it away for free.[/quote:lw8k5vcz]
so who’s right?
i don’t think we have to deduct anything from the fact that the band were handing out that "german" promo on tour. it doesn’t mean they had or didn’t have the virgin in-house promo yet.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthat’s the worst part. i already have a scanner.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoroh, don’t talk me about it. there’s been a pile of cds to scan next to my pc for over a year. right now it’s gone, and i have no idea where to. i suck.
i really need a couple of hours or days to update my collection on here, and then start scanning the stuff that’s still missing.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatornot sure if this is the right thread, but this entry can be improved: http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … S&item=227
it’s the spanish promo for try, try, try.
it doesn’t contain the full album version of the song. it’s edited. note how the cd and sleeve say 3:57. also note that this edit is different from the radio edit that is on some of the other try, try, try promo cds.2010.05.07 at 7:45 am in reply to: List time: owners of US Machina II Virgin in-house promo cds #41479
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoralso, what i never really understood is the story of machina II.
the first story i heard is that billy wanted to release machina II, but then, when things didn’t work out with virgin, he pressed 25 copies on vinyl, and sent them out with the message to share it.
now, according to the story that explains where these virgin in-house promo sets come from, the vinyl came first. (see one of those archive netphoria threads.) and before anything else, the vinyl was sent out. because then the virgin in-house promo sets were made, sourced from tigershorty’s copy (so he must already have received his copy). the sets were made at a time they were discussing if and how to release machina II. and it’s only when things didn’t work out with virgin that billy told people to share it.
so, is that what happened? did everyone first receive their copy, and only got the message to share it weeks or months later?
or did he give one copy out, to tigershorty (for whatever reason), and only sent the other ones out after the virgin debacle, with the message to share it?does anyone have any links to messages from those days. when did the world find out about machina II? was the audio shared at the same time? any chance any of the sharers mentioned at that time when their vinyl set arrived? (did they have it for weeks, or did it arrive that day?)
i’m sure there’s a good explanation, but right now, the stories don’t really match for me.
if there would be an obvious explanation why tigershorty got his copy of machina II long before anyone else, then i guess the stories do match. is there a good explanation? who is he? wasn’t he in charge of the official website?2010.05.07 at 7:06 am in reply to: List time: owners of US Machina II Virgin in-house promo cds #41477
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori’m afraid i don’t really get all the HINT HINT HINTs.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorso no other sp freaks own any cds from this set?
what if there are really only 7 sets ever made? in that case we collected almost every existing CR-01!
i don’t think this is the case, but just imagine that it is. that would be quite incredible.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoryou should have pre-ordered it online: http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDet … sku=350463
£31.99 + free delivery
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorBought the Teargarden boxset instore at HMV.
Was 42GBP.
[/quote:3dzgcnde]
i had no idea it had been released already.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorhouse has been cleaned, windows are still dirty. singles cd longbox still hasn’t been scanned.
someone kick me!
Cool As Ice CreamSpectator… and beats billy in the write the highest number on your t-shirt competition.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorheavy metal machine cassette: almost worthless. $5 maybe? maybe a bit more because it’s sealed. but i doubt there will be much interest for this.
signed lithograph: the lion lithograph seems to be the most common one. i think it is worth about $15-25. not sure how much extra the autographs will add. it’s always hard to put a price on that.
if you sell them on ebay, and more people are interested, you might get a better price for the cassette.
i don’t know for how much you want to sell the lithograph, and for what price you’d rather keep it, but maybe you can put a reserve on it, or start the bidding at your minimum price.or maybe someone on here is interested in buying it directly from you?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorso only relatively recent releases.
no sign of earphoria?and do you know if they have older sp releases, and if so, what version that is (since it’s not ZA)?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorooh, nice!
hopefully they still have ZA pressed items. it wouldn’t surprise me if they only got imported re-releases these days.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorHow many copies did they make of the APFH, that always goes for high on unopened copy so 250 is nothing when i own 3 of them thats only 247 left of the window single
now how many people will hold on to it? you will be lucky to see one of these for sale once every few months if ur lucky sven![/quote:3ibhlb1l]
says the guy who bought three copies so he could sell two on ebay for insane prices… (it’s always good to have a bit of perspective.)there were thousands of the TAFH box set. according to spfc.org there were two pressings of 200,000 and 250,000 copies.
they will make 10,000 copies of the first teargarden EP, according to an ad from the record company.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoroh, this is great. the c_love drama. always delivers.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorThe only thing these two releases have in common with the grey Tristessa or I Am One flexi is the small quantity.
The new releases are:
– brand new; not old
– pressed in low quantity on purpose (and not by accident, or because it’s a promo, or because the band isn’t well known yet). Feels like an artificial rarity. Maybe created to increase interest? (Or maybe because of a new realism: \"If we press 1000, they’ll never sell out.\")
– done very quickly for Record Store Day (I get that impression). I’m not saying this is what happened, but maybe they just said something like \"hey, yes, you can download the mp3s of our website and press two singles.\" That’s the feeling I get.On top of that, they don’t contain anything interesting, anything that isn’t out there yet.
Has anyone listened to their WWMM/Song for a Son 7\"? Did you notice that both songs fade out early? I think this adds to the crappiness of this release.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori think the list makes it clear that billy has got your CR-04, amnesia. you should demand it back!
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI think that’s just a rumour. I wouldn’t count on it for now.
2010.04.23 at 11:10 am in reply to: List time: owners of US Machina II Virgin in-house promo cds #41470
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorSo, so far, this is the list:
[code:1gv6e8d1]arthur: CR01 CR02 CR03 CR04
manilla: CR01 CR02 CR03 CR04
amnesia: CR01 CR02 CR03
eazye: CR01 CR03
cool: CR01
billy c: ? ? ? CR04*[/code:1gv6e8d1]*: I assume the copy on MySpace was Billy’s copy. If I remember it correctly, it was just a picture, without a comment whatsoever, so there’s still a small possibility that this is the picture of someone else’s cd.
Any other cd owners reading this? If so, please come forward.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorit is a great story. but it’s also sad that someone bootlegged your fanclub version.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorsomeone kick me!
i’m the worst sp freak.i hope i can soon find some time to update \"my collection\" and then scan stuff that isn’t on spfreaks yet.
it’s just that i haven’t cleaned my house for weeks, and i really need to do that first. i hope i can do it this weekend. but it’s so much work, even if i skip half of it. (i’m sure my windows won’t mind staying black. they’ve been like this for over a year.)
