i didn’t read all of that, as it would make my head hurt. (are you on pills or something, sven?)

but, in case you didn’t notice this, this is a video compilation from 2007 promoting the upcoming release of zeitgeist, and the older video stuff is from both billy and jimmy. they left out d’arcy and james. i don’t think the new stuff in the last part shows billy or jimmy, just pictures from the zeitgeist artwork sessions.

    so, here, \"they\" = bc + jc.

i’m not going to like something because it’s related to the smashing pumpkins somehow.

sometimes i will check things out because i heard about it via the smashing pumpkins (because there’s a link), but i check out a lot of things quite randomly, so any reason is a good reason. and the link to sp isn’t always the only reason i check things out. sometimes someone recommended me something. anyway, that’s just checking stuff out. if i like it, i like it. if not, bad luck.

things linked to sp i’ve enjoyed: auf der maur, superwolf (bonnie prince billy with matt sweeney), jimmy chamberlin complex, billy corgan, james iha and zwan too.
also, slint (with david pajo), but that’s a lot older than zwan.

on the other hand, some things don’t interest me at all, no matter who’s involved. i never read any of billy corgan’s poems, or bought that blinking with fists book. and i’m not sure if i’ll ever check out tinted windows. maybe one day.

oh yeah, one of those listening party promos would be super cool.

but i think it’s basically impossible.
these promos were never sent out. someone from warner arrived at the listening party with one promo, protected the cd with their life, and took the promo back safely. and who knows what happened then. maybe all 5-track promos have been collected and destroyed? doesn’t seem impossible to me: only some of their own people ever held these cds in their hands. must not be too hard to get all the cds back, to avoid early leaks.
if that didn’t happen, people won’t want to sell their copy as long as they’re working for warner bros. obviously.

maybe the seller numbered this fake copy himself, on a different location. some people might fall for that.

or he really is selling a numbered copy, but used a picture from a different auction. that would be really stupid.

For the quality freaks amongst us, could you zip the VIDEO_TS folder and upload that, please?
(That’s normally not a good way to copy a dvd, but I think for this one it should work.)

    Sweet, Arthur. Thanks a lot.

oh wow, let’s have a look.

download all shows from the internet: free.
burn them on 27 cds: $14 (or less).

i hope it doesn’t go for more than that.

really hot, my ass. craptastic, i would say. the seller should be reported.

I think you can hear the piano really well, Pumpkins. And you Jimmy Chamberlin sings with D’arcy in Farewell and Goodnight from the MC&IS album. I really didn’t find out until a couple of months ago… Always thought that was only James. :?[/quote:2giq3kef]
hmmm… i’m confused. i thought jimmy was singing with billy in the first part and james was singing with d’arcy in the second part.

also, with the glow promo, a lot of radio stations received a digital download instead of a cd. so i guess there are less cds out there than there might have been made back in the cd-promos-only days.

Is that cd set supposed to come in cd cases? I would expect plastic sleeves.

I met Davin and Brian in Brussels on Friday. We also had a good time.

in reply to: What is the latest Pumpkins related item you bought? #7087

Yeah, that’s a very good price indeed. I already have this, but if I ever saw it on eBay for that price, I think I’d buy another copy.

in reply to: Does this seem right? #33888

buying a bootleg and then selling it further on is a bit of a gray area. but i think it’s ok. you paid a lot for it, and if someone is ok with buying it off you, then what’s wrong with that?

i once got the 17 seconds bootleg as a gift. i sold it to a second hand record store for 5 euros, and they sold it to whoever for 12 euros. good riddance. ;)

yeah, the black vinyl is harder to find than the yellow one.
but it appears on ebay quite often. if you keep your eyes open, and be patient, you should be able to find a good copy for a reasonable price.

    also for those in Belgium-
the other weekend I was in Brussels…
just next to/off the Great Market/Grote Markt, there’s quite a messy record store with an awesome collection…. I spent a lot of money there!!!!
he also had the SIYL 12" promo there!
i already have it and ran out of cash-
but it might be worth checking out- loads of singles and promos of other bands too- so some TSP might come in there too or something… ;)
    just a tip/hint![/quote:1b4lpcn7]
where exactly is this record store located? do you remember the name, or the street? is it big? does it have just music, or is it also selling other stuff?
the thing is, there are so many record stores in the neighbourhood of the grote markt. and i’ve visited quite a lot, but most were crap. the only one that looked a bit decent was a tiny one, next to the artist entrance of the ancienne belgique. (apparently billy spent 1000 euros there the day before their show there in 2007.)

By now you have heard the news of my departure from the Smashing Pumpkins. I will say, without going into any unnecessary details that this represents a positive move forward for me. I can no longer commit all of my energy into something that I don’t fully possess. I won’t pretend I’m into something I’m not. I won’t do it to myself, you the fan, or my former partner. I can’t just, “Cash the check” so to speak. Music is my life. It is sacred. It deserves the highest commitment at every level and the Pumpkins are certainly no different. I’m sorry but it really IS that simple. There is no drama, bad blood, or anything else but a full commitment to music. My best goes out to Billy and I’m glad he has chosen to continue under the name. It is his right. I will continue to make music with the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex as well as pursuing other musical interests. I feel that I have a long way to go and a lot to give. Thanks to everyone for your kind words and support through all of this. I am constantly humbled by all of you! It is an honor and a privilege to play music for a living and I don’t take it for granted not even for a second.

    Stay tuned……. JC[/quote:31njtnom]
