There is some background here from Barry Waterman: http://www.lightintodark.com/history.htm

    he says
‘As the records themselves were not ready (what a surprise…), I instead gave out the now semi famous cassette sampler tapes with one song from each of the six bands on the record. ‘

Sounds like the tape was given out at the party just before the show, so the invitation would have been sent out earlier.

Cool to have that invitation with it. So SP played that Light Into Dark release show on Billy’s birthday :)

that is awesome! – I like the idea of a currency away from the centralised banks. I know some places have ‘time-banking’ where you donate your time, eg. babysitting/lawn mowing/hair cutting services, and get a credit to use for someone else to do your lawn/hair or babysit for you. And other places have alternative currency used within a community.

Now the important question: when can you buy SP vinyl using Bitcoin? :!: 8)

‘it was a magical time’ 8)

this is why a lot of people (SP fans and other 90s alternative music fans) hold onto that time – those bands were ‘breaking out’ and being promoted by the big labels. This doesn’t happen anymore :?

Apparently some of the white vinyl pressings of the new Crosses album has brown or grey smudges on it (those darn pressing plate changes!) I was able to explain to some fans who were perplexed about their vinyl colour as to why they were that way. 8)

After I had explained…I don’t think it changed anyone’s ‘dilemma’ of the poo-like marks on their nice white vinyl….

my EU one was right way up.

I had put the insert inside the box to keep it from getting lost or ripped, but it is slightly too big to fit inside the box without creasing, so I cut it to size. :o

so what exactly are you saying about income tax? i’m getting mixed messages here.[/quote:erhithtw]

I actually think it’s worse now, more poverty, more wars, and more inequality – thanks income tax!

they probably didn’t, and a huge amount are barely surviving today :?

Not all humans, I wouldn’t blame people like the Dalai Lama, and those working to help others. Snowden and Manning too!

I blame corporations, they run the world, but it’s very difficult for most of us to avoid supporting them – for example if you have a car, it’s impossible! :?

I was reading today about income tax not existing before 1913 – gotta wonder how we (or the govt) survived before then….hmmm :?:

True! Very awesome – although I wasn’t that excited as he already said he was working on ‘a pair of albums’ back in September….now he needs to give us some snippets of these songs :)

A cartoon of 2 people in a museum – the paintings are just QR codes and they are holding their ipads up to see the actual paintings on their ipad screens. hehe – that would save museums a lot of transporting art around!

the corporations corrupt minds you mean?

    http://www.collective-evolution.com/201 … ching-you/

I think it’s all about controlling the market for certain products (big brands) and profits.

More reason to support local products and services! :)

Just from a look at MCIS era cassettes in the SPfreaks collection:

    1979 – UK, US, NZ
Tonight, Tonight – UK, US, Australia, NZ
33 – US, NZ (but UK only had a promo?)
BWBW – UK, US, Australia (there must have been a NZ release too – the song was very big here)
    Zero – US only

    Siamese Dream:

Today – UK, NZ, Australia ….wait, no US cassette?
    Disarm – UK only

There could be some gaps to fill in with these cassette releases – or not :?:

Oh Cool as Ice Cream, there’s a NZ release of the 33 cassette – so you better check yours!

I think the point is that they are items that are hard to find ONLINE and in 2nd hand music stores etc…rather than in our collections. Duh.

everyone who has any Today cassettes should check them perhaps?

They are difficult to find even in NZ, I remember a friend had the Siamese Dream cassette in 1993 but has since thrown it away or lost it – which is what most people have likely done with these other cassettes too -so the very few ones that are left are difficult to find :?

Yikes, there are some youtube vids of these virtual concerts showing the crowd going crazy- they use a ‘vocaloid’ for the singers vocals. My ears can’t take it :?
