Not that rare, just rare for me – difficult to find here – a Machina II bootleg CD (probably hundreds of them in the US) – it was a store on 1st Ave in Belltown – I think…it was nearly 2 years ago now…

Crazy. I found one of the rarest items for my collection in a Seattle music store.

Is Seattle the place to be for rare SP items? (other than Chicago) :)

You have to think of ‘Smashing Pumpkins’ as ‘Billy and co’ – since 2007 – although Jeff has stuck around for 7 years now. There must have been some reason for no official announcement, perhaps they (Mike & Nicole) wanted to pursue their own musical projects and see where they went before deciding if they wanted to return to SP or not.
At least there was a video update yesterday! :) a basic riff doesn’t tell much but it does sound like Billy’s going back to a classic rock sound 8)

Well… Billy hadn’t mentioned him (or Nicole) since recording the new albums – and they had unfollowed on twitter quite a while ago. Nicole is still using the SP name in promoting her band, so maybe will be touring bass player…? I wonder who will be touring drummer – I hope not Tommy Lee. :?

    Hi and welcome :)

Love the downloads of the old sp themes – I remember downloading a couple of them a long time ago.

Is the Screen Raver file backed up somewhere? Some of the screensavers don’t work with the latest Windows version obviously – damn this modern technology!

I know the Ichabod is probably more ancient and Billy meant for it to be ‘meditative and alien’ but…

now if the audio clip had been like that… :)

didn’t bother trying to secure a copy, with the live synth shows in mind…
now that the track is up: damn, that’s just plain OMG awful, considering the amazing load of modular synths BC owns… pretty much lame knob twiddling by an amateur…
oh well… guess it’s a good moment to dig up the lp’s of Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream for the real deal.[/quote:1z6zut0u]

I read that it would be experimental music – and wanted to hear it first (try before you buy!) so I was glad that I was able to hear the audio before clicking on ‘checkout’. I was thinking it would sound instrumental like ‘Hope’ or ‘Depresso’ ….but it sounds like spaceship arrival music :)

Nice for those who want the vinyl/artwork/autograph – pretty cool item for hardcore collectors. Those ones selling on ebay though…

I’ll be interested to see the artwork Billy chose for it, the AEGEA theme is intriguing http://www.aegea.com/inspired-by-history/

i believe i have found a new zealand pressing of still becoming apart, not yet on spfreaks.com. does anyone else own this?

it hasn’t arrived here yet. but when it does, and it is in fact a NZ pressing, i will make scans, etc.[/quote:19twghyi]
the cd arrived today, and it is in fact a NZ pressing, with its own matrix number. yay!

makes me wonder if there are any other pressings around, perhaps. (from australia? japan? elsewhere?)[/quote:19twghyi]

    cool :)
I must have a look for it when I visit civilisation again (aka a place that has record stores)

    yes, the cd. (what else?)
i believe you can only tell by looking at the matrix number. (there might be other ways to tell the difference, but i’m not aware of them.)[/quote:3gs8f5w5]

I didn’t know there weren’t any vinyl releases of this one…
Anyway, will be interesting to see if it does have a different matrix number.

The CD? I’ve seen plenty of them here, but never checked where they were pressed, assumed all of them were overseas…

Hi Ale  You’ll find it a lot quieter than the oboard here. And I don’t think there is a very big audience for causes here – maybe 5 people read this – better to post on facebook or twitter! That’s what I do anyway :P

    cool idea. i support it.

i will not participate, however. and for that, i’m sorry. i don’t think i am able to come up with an answer. i just can’t do it.[/quote:1xnrdbpg]

I’m the same, sorry. Great idea, but I just feel awkward doing things like that – I would feel more comfortable expressing it in writing, not video.

Also Arthur suggested it would be acoustic/heavy rock in a previous thread.[/quote:2zrgid3t]
That was just a wild guess, you know… ;)[/quote:2zrgid3t]

    I know :)

Well, Chicago Songs will be released sometime (supposed to be this year, but Matt Walker was working on them and seems to be busy with other projects now :? )

They seem to be working on ‘Monuments’ first, with 26 ‘STAR’ demos for it.

Another quote from Billy – April 2013:
“One thing I have thought about doing is releasing two albums at once, one that is focused in the world that everything needs to be perfect, and one that is done sort of raw like they used to make records in the old days.”

ok so they may be released together…

you seem to assume that there will be a heavy and a soft album. where did you get that?
    [/quote:rxmgn2a2]

I am assuming….. the song list says ‘acoustic’ next to some of the songs…and the ‘guitars, guitars…’ seem to suggest the heavy songs. Also Arthur suggested it would be acoustic/heavy rock in a previous thread. :P

To add to that, Billy has had an acoustic album sitting around for a while: http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories … roove.html

The most personal record I’ve ever made I haven’t released. It’s been sitting in the can since 2004-05. It’s just acoustic, almost all finger-picking, country-style guitar — very folk-driven. [/quote:rxmgn2a2]

We’ll be extremely lucky if we get a 1 hour song! Probably more likely to have 9-10minutes ‘United States’ style songs. Ok by me! 8)

I wonder if the albums will be released at the same time or separately? eg. one at the start of summer – perhaps the heavy one…and one at the start of winter. :?:

In the main image, the one 3-along 3-down looks like something out of a alien-combat game…and there is one on the bottom line that looks like a muppet!
Some seem like they’re just unusually shaped rocks, others…painted?, maybe aliens landed all that time ago but left or got destroyed by the asteroid that destroyed the dinosaurs. :?:

Nice find, however, I cannot download these pics? Can you? Tried with Chrome and Internet Explorer, but the (rather small, after clicking on them they are slightly bigger but still very small) pics have no download/save option available. I tried to make a screen capture (Prt Sc = Print Screen) but then the quality is VERY ugly… :([/quote:jmfqjt58]

Ah – I thought they could be saved from that – I have the images saved from somewhere but didn’t think they were very good quality! Will email them.

I can see ebay accepting bitcoins- not sure about Amazon.

A South African bank (Standard Bank) recently did a test pilot of bitcoin – with 8 internal staff trialing it – but they decided they wouldn’t be launching it. Hmm…not really surprised!
