Return To ComfortSpectatorI confess I’m feeling feisty.
I confess I snoozed this morning and loved it.
Return To ComfortSpectatorI drive a Saturn and actually I pretty much don’t drive anymore. We have an SUV that is not working currently-which is a good thing, and when it does work again, it is hardly ever used. A tank of gas in the Saturn lasts us a week-not bad.
I care about the environment, but I also know that it will take an extremely long time to get where we need to be with alternative energy. Going green costs $ and people don’t even have the $ to do it.
I haven’t used my heat yet and I have electric heaters to help not use the heat and a wood burning stove in my family room. Hot water, well have to use the damn gas to heat it…..[/quote:3lwj9vlr]What creates your electricity? Probably either coal or hydroelectric, possibly nuclear depending on where you live. Is burning coal cleaner than natural gas? Is damming up rivers good for the environment? What about the possibility of a nuclear disaster (TMI etc)? Wood burning stove–you’re still polluting the environment and cutting down forests. My point is, we have to get energy from somewhere, and no matter what it’s from, people will complain.
Return To ComfortSpectatorWhat’s RIGHT w/ drilling for more oil? Nothing.[/quote:9b4yevdu]
I love how people are so quick to attack "big oil", or even "little oil" for that matter. They’re an easy target, but not as evil as you all believe. Yes, they make huge profits. It’s simple economics–they provide a commodity that is in high demand. I’m not holding that against them. If you have your panties in a wad about the financial side of "big oil", go buy some stock and enjoy some of those profits. So what’s right with drilling for more oil? This country would come to a screeching halt without oil. I, like many of you, also believe we need to find alternative sources, but you are being idealistic if you think that will happen immediately. Even if a stable, cheap, reliable, clean energy source was discovered today, think about how long it would take to get everyone/thing switched over! YEARS. Thus, we still need oil and gas supplies and reserves that are accessible to us. For those of you who are anti-oil because of the environmental impact, what car do you drive? What heats your home? Your hot water? Dryer? Let me know that you are personally doing things to either conserve oil or stop using it in your life and I’ll let you slide on the oil argument. But if you’re out driving around in your SUV, quit your bitching.
Reggae- no, taking oil out of the ground does not "damage the underground". Where did you hear that?
Return To ComfortSpectatorMcCain: The Maverick.
Went against Ronald Reagan ONCE regarding Bosnia.
Sucked Bush’s small dick 95% of the time.
Voted for the war.
Wants to CONTINUE the war. IN IRAQ. IRAQ!!!!
Suspends campaign to fuck up Washington’s progress.
Committed adultery multiple times on his physically challenged first wife.
Reached across the aisle ONCE with the McCain-Finegold? bill.
Refered to Obama as "that guy".
Was defeated in 2000 by George Bush. Bush used smear tactics to destroy McCain’s image. Yet, 4 years later, campaigned for the same fucker that stabbed him in the back. Only to further his own political agenda.
Does not know how many houses he owns. Most people can’t afford one.
Nominated Sarah Palin as VP after a 15 minute phone conversation.
Was part of the 5 senator fiasco – name eludes me right now.
Admitted he does not understand the economy.
He’s old. Out of touch. Wants to change Washington. You’ve had 26 years, what have you been doing?
He knows how to find Bin Laden. What the fuck is he waiting on?
Supports a short term band-aid (at best) by more drilling. For oil. OIL.He sure is a maverick. If only in a good way. Oh well John. Better luck next time.[/quote:3kszc64x]
Where to start…..Manilla of course makes some interesting points. I need to do some fact-checking before I believe it all.
"suspends campaign to mess up washington’s progress"?? Seriously? What’s so bad about putting the economy before politics?
Adultery? uhhhhhh….ok. *cough*Clinton*cough*
What’s wrong with drilling for more oil?
Return To ComfortSpectatorFall to Winter, Day to Night
Life and liveliness of summer wane,
The colors and excitement fade.
I echo back, theme music slowing,
Allegro to adagio.Daylight diminishes,
The dark of night is augmented.
My life mimics,
Each minute calmer.Leaves fall and grass browns,
Preparing for the depth of winter.
I mirror, settling into my own warmth,
Strong and comforting.Fall leaves, winter arrives.
Interpreted death is truly life.
I copy, giving into the night,
Rejuvenation for tomorrow.
Return To ComfortSpectatoror myself.
Return To ComfortSpectatorMcCain wins, even did best of 3.
Return To ComfortSpectator95% of the 60% who pay taxes. Is that a serious question?
Small businesses do pay capital gains taxes if they make a certain amount of money.
Abortion – to each their own, not really a major factor in this election IMO.
I don’t think Obama reach a class "flash point" and went straight to elite. Even if that WAS possible, that’s the American Dream, and you are holding it against him.
I question a candidate who gets his financial advice from 8 former BUSH LOBBYISTS.[/quote:1b8dteqm]
At least you get the 95% of 60%. I think most people hear 95% and think 95% of everyone.
Capital gains taxes–yes, but what is that "certain amount of money"?
Abortion– never said it was a major factor, just don’t agree with it. Tis personal I suppose.
Not holding Obama’s success against him, just hope people realize Obama may not understand the middle class like he lets on.
Financial advice point given.
Ballot still is blank! Shall I flip a coin?
Return To ComfortSpectator2. cut taxes for 95% of small businesses.Tax cut for 95% of all working families, not corporations
[/quote:ypbegmr2]How can you cut taxes for 95% of households when only 60% pay taxes to begin with?
How does cutting capital gains tax for small businesses help them when they don’t pay that tax to begin with? Small businesses report their income as personal. So there is no "tax break".
Obama on abortion? You want someone who would allow an abortion at 8 months? Cruel.
Obama as middle class? IMO he went from poor to elite, skipping middle class altogether.
I question a presidential candidate who gets his financial advice from the former CEO of Fannie May.
Ok then. Ballot is still blank, people!! Decisions…decisions……
Return To ComfortSpectatornow back on topic- i just got my absentee ballot in the mail and i totally voted Obama.
[/quote:16ye5zkg]
Yeah!!![/quote:16ye5zkg]

Return To ComfortSpectatorI also have two big scars on my ankle, and just like return to comfort have metal pins, screws & plates in there.

It’s not that I’m slacking or lazy. It’s that there’s literally nothing for me to do. I’m predicting next week to be like this as well.
