During a routine and recent MSN conversation, where the usual exchange of PayPal transactions were taking place, things headed into unexpected territory for one Forum poster:
\"We were just talking about being Escapees from Alcatraz way back when, then the next thing I knew names came up in conversation,\" said Dazey. \"I turned into a Friends Actor, it was bizarre: I am like, so not changing my name, dude. Oh whatever, like so funny, to even think it.\"
Dazey went on: \"Well, I was about to log off for the day when Arthur Van Pelt twisted the convo wildly. He asked me for more money to keep from being banned on his website, then asked who would I pay it to this time round. I said you, of course, but he meant literally who. Well are we people, or Pumpkins I asked him, his reply was: ‘I’m a Potato.’ I was shocked, to say the least. I named him Arthur Van Spud and he seemed to relax into this very quickly. It was, like, almost surreal.\"
Van Spud was unavailable for comment at the time of press, however his Agent spoke exclusively to us on CNN:
\"I have a car waiting for me, please make this quick… No, it wasn’t a forced name change at all, Spuddie, I mean Arthur, hasn’t implied any actions will be taken against Dazey at this time. No, I’m not answering that question, anybody else? No, I don’t believe there were any financial motives behind this situation. I really must be going, nothing more, thank you. Fine, just one more, yes? Very funny, don’t be ridiculous, Arthur will never be seen hiding in Fields amongst other foodstuffs. That is all, goodbye. I’m sorry, no more.\"
Bizarre? To think a Potato could even speak, let alone run Internet Websites and so many other interesting things for others to enjoy.
Look for Spud’s Soprano debut on the Smashing Pumpkins rare release, coming 2009: Mellon Collie-flower and The Infinite Spudfarm.
