This is from 666. It was material recorded for an MTV documentary.

in reply to: mellon collie lp, a few questions ??? #4103

Talking about MCIS vinyl. I found a Dutch seller online that claims to have a numbered YELLOW VINYL 3LP, for US$ 249.99. Does any of you have that, or heard about it? I have asked him about it anyway, will let you know the answers.

It starts to feel like we are flooded nowadays with new, unknown vinyl… Or are the Dutch bootleg pressingmoulds running like crazy these days? I wonder…[/quote:2dy72dpn]there was one on ebay not so long ago (two months maybe).

the seller was german. i asked him for more pictures, because the auction was only showing the mcis front artwork, but i never got any reaction. i hope you can get pictures from this dutch seller. i also wonder if they’re housed in a typical mcis 3lp sleeve, or if it’s different. the ebay auction kind of suggested that it might be different. (maybe this is just me not understanding german too well…)

of course this has to be a bootleg.

the thing is though, now that it’s up on ebay, they can’t sell it via their website. otherwise they will have to say the ebay winner that it’s no longer available, and that’s against the ebay rules, if i’m not mistaken.

if you try to buy it via the website however, they can always tell you that it’s gone. won’t be fun to hear for anyone who tries it, but it’s not against their own website rules, right?

in reply to: TAFH sales award for sale #5040

the same item is now on ebay too, and someone already bid on it.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi … 0194456811

what would happen if someone would buy it from their website now?
one should be stupid to bid higher on ebay if the website is selling it for $895 (and with lower shipping costs listed), right?

in reply to: November 16th, 2007 : ATL, GA #5069

i thought 33 was one of the highlights of the shows i went to.

in reply to: Japanese Earphoria with bonus track? #5064

incorrect. double checked with actual copy of the cd.

Yeah, spreading lossless files would be cool. There’s no hurry though.

I’m not really an expert, but I think it might be interesting to find out what equipment was used (recorder, mic), and what happened with the recording before it was transferred to cd-r. Was the master tape transferred to cd-r, or to dat; or was it a copy of a copy of the master tape that got transferred, for example.
Maybe the guy can help you, maybe he has forgotten about the details already.

And I just checked my own cd-rs of the SBD source and these don’t seem to play too fast.
There is something wrong with the transfer that is currently up on archive.org.

It sounds like a different recording to me. The one on archive.org is soundboard, the one you got is audience, and a good one.

i just noticed the \"currently best available recording\" i was talking about is already on archive.org, also available in mp3 format: http://www.archive.org/details/tsp1992-01-19.flac16
(sounds a bit too fast though…)

the recording also seems complete (including \"this is not a fucking love song\"), but misses the audience before the first song, and the house music after the show has ended.

if the dj recorded this himself, then this is a completely new (audience) recording, previously unknown.

When I know more about the lineage I will get a lossless rip done for Archive.org (don’t want to bother them with MP3 of course :P ).[/quote:19men3sa]
it would be interesting to have one (short) track in flac to compare with the source that is already out there.

i’m not sure what the lineages on splra.org all mean, but could it be that this show was recorded on cassette from the soundboard, and then broadcast on the radio? (see: ANA-?>FM>ANA-1>CDR) and that the dj recorded it from the radio on another cassette and made a transfer to cd-r with his cassette? (ask him if you have the chance.)
if so, the splra.org also lists another, in theory better, lineage for this show: ANA-1>DDC-?(32k)>SHN (no FM, no ANA-?)

    Furthermore I traced down:

I Am One 7" vinyl for € 35,00 (good price I thought, will be send from the UK later when the seller returns home)
Mellon Collie French Delabel promo for € 30,00 (will be send from France, the French seller will also look for Adore Attention Evenement promo and another type of Adore Delabel promo, he thinks he has it at home… fingers crossed)[/quote:bpq00t9o]
this is awesome. best finds ever!
i love those delabel promos. mcis promo for only €30??? amazing.
same goes for the i am one single. i know a second hand record store that sold i am one 7" for €350.

And I found 1 Mellon Collie 3LP vinyl unnumbered & unboxed (for Cool As Ice Cream, if he wants it)

I took those numbers from Netphoria:

    side A and B: set no: 7243 8 41655 12 and comp no: 7243 8 41656 11
    side C and D: set no: 7243 8 41655 12 and comp no: 7243 8 41657 10
    side E and F: set no: 7243 8 41655 12 and comp no: 7243 8 41658 19

And I can confirm those numbers to be on this vinyl set. Besides that I can confirm it’s the same release as shown on the pics in the other thread started by Lara.

    The hand-etched matrix numbers are:

    side A: 7243 8 41655 – A –
    and – B -, – C – etc. for the other sides.

The Dutch seller told me he bought 12 copies of it a bit more than a year ago from a trustworthy distributor, and as far as he knows it is not a bootleg. This was his last copy. I have searched my ass off on the whole fair, and it was at least the only copy there I’m pretty sure. It’s in an absolute mint condition, unplayed and all.

Cool As Ice Cream, I paid € 45,00 for it (I tried to negotiate, but that didn’t work, it was a fixed price), you think you want it for that price? If not, I’ll sell it off someday again.[/quote:w6c9wv0m]
i don’t pay for bootlegs. since it’s not really decided that this is a bootleg, i will think about it. i will get back to you via email.

1992-01-19: other sources than the sped up bootleg source are already available.
    check http://www.splra.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tsp1992-01-19
they even have the full show banter there (including \"i don’t wanna play i am one\", for example), so it’s not unlikely that the source that is already out there is as complete as the one you found.

however! chances are that your source is a big improvement lineage-wise. so by all means, get it out there. (any chance you know the lineage of the cd-r source? was it first recorded onto cassette, for example?)

1991-09-01: several sources of this show also exist. http://www.splra.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tsp1991-09-01
once again, if this guy was a dj, it’s not unlikely he owns something better or more complete. worth checking out.

have fun! i hope you come back with the coolest stories ever.

in reply to: mellon collie lp, a few questions ??? #4100

you mean the 4 cd-r set? how much was it? and did you find it in a record store in holland? (wow!)

in reply to: mellon collie lp, a few questions ??? #4098

the person on netphoria said he could not find any codes on the vinyl.
there were codes on the sleeve and on the labels, but it is obvious that these will match with the ones of the original release, because, if this is a bootleg, they scanned the artwork, with these codes. so this info doesn’t help us much further.

together with the fact that the record store owner could not find the re-release on his system, the lack of matrix codes makes it almost certain that we are talking about a bootleg version here.

on the other hand, maybe they didn’t look close enough. i had the impression they had never heard of matrix codes before (which is ok, of course), and that they didn’t really feel like checking again because they didn’t really care (which is bad news for us, because we do want to know, of course).

did you end up buying a copy, lara? and if so, can you tell us what text is on the vinyl, near the label? (it’s always better to have a backup source for these kind of things.) thanks!
