i don’t think they actually pressed 10,000 of these. my guess is that this cd is rarer than that.

in reply to: question about: end sessions vol. II #47059

and you still own that copy?

i don’t think this necessarily makes it a bootleg. it could just mean that instead of numbering each cd of this \"limited\" release individually, they faked the numbers, by putting the same number on each cd.

it could also mean that someone scanned his copy and made a couple of extra copies (fakes), now all with the same number. but i find this less likely: although this cd is fairly hard to find, i don’t think there’s a lot to be made in making fake copies of it.

does anyone own this release with a different number on the cd?

    \"fsk ab 0 freigegeben\"

that gish bonus dvd was also american, but when sold in europe, it usually had that german age logo.
so i was expecting the same thing for the tafh bonus dvd.

can you post matrix codes for the tafh deluxe edition? i’d be interested in those.

in reply to: The Aeroplane Flies High Reissue #46906

Bought both cd+dvd and LP from Amazon UK.

    Both distributed by Amazon EU.

    Both made in US.

    Cd+dvd £62.56.

    Lp £104.55.

    Hope this helps.[/quote:pm3z6rcl]
does the dvd have that german FSK logo?

what about the pisces iscariot reissue? were there any specific promos made for that release?

all i remember seeing is a combined promo cd-r for gish and siamese dream (\"radio sampler\"), and that tafh promo cd-r (\"sampler\").

    well, that’s interesting. thanks!

would there be a specific reason they went back to making all deluxe editions and vinyl sets in one place?

and what do you mean by "both distributed by amazon EU"? is there any way to tell, when you have the two sets in your hands? (i guess not.)

in reply to: The Aeroplane Flies High Reissue #46896

Ok, time to get back on topic with this thread: the TAFH reissue.

    Has anyone bought this yet?

I was wondering, for both the Deluxe Edition (cds+dvd) and the LPs, do they have two releases again? One made in the US (sold in the US and in Canada), and one made in Europe (sold in the EU, Japan, elsewhere)?
This was the case for the Pisces Iscariot and Mellon Collie reissues. But for Gish and Siamese Dream, everything was made in the US (and the cds were pressed in Mexico, actually).

I’d like to know the answer, and I’d like to see it confirmed.
Could everyone who already owns one or more TAFH reissue copies check where they were made, and let us know?
Information of interest: what do you have (cd+dvd, or lp?), in which country did you buy it, and where was it made?

Also, has anyone found this for a reasonable price?
This seems to be as ridiculously priced as that Mellon Collie reissue, but now there isn’t even a huge booklet, or a decoupage kit. I don’t understand this, really. Why?

On the EU based amazons, right now the cheapest Deluxe Edtion is €79.99 (amazon.de) or £68.04 (€78.91) (amazon.co.uk), and the cheapest LP set is €139.99 (amazon.fr).
On the North American amazons, the cheapest Deluxe edition is $85.23 (€63.71) (amazon.com), and the cheapest LP set is CDN$119.99 (€85.32) (amazon.ca).

Now those American prices seem just doable, but they won’t be after import taxes have been added. The European prices are a lot higher. Again, why?

Also, I’ve checked some shops here, and none of them were carrying this reissue. Maybe they know this won’t sell at the price that has been set by EMI?

in reply to: Adore vinyl barcode question… #47005

    hmmm… weird.
i noticed that the original barcode number is of course still present on the spine of the sleeve of the adore record.

7 2438 and 0 17046 are used on a lot of sp releases. maybe one number is for virgin releases, the other one for caroline releases? (just a guess.)
i’m not sure if i’m looking at it right, but it seems that the 7 2438 code starts out as a code on cd releases, where the 0 17046 one appears on vinyl releases. later on, starting with some mcis vinyl singles, 7 2438 is also used on vinyl releases.

maybe the adore release with the sticker was a last twitch from caroline, \"hey, this is our release, give it our barcode\"? something like that? and then after that, virgin was like \"you’re part of us anyway, let’s drop the separate barcodes.\"
or, in other words, first caroline was still used to release vinyl on, later they just released everything on virgin, cd and vinyl.

i looked up barcode ownerships on http://gepir.gs1.org/v32/xx/
and 0724384… is owned by Capitol Records/picture Music Internat’L, london, uk.
0017046… is owned by Caroline Records Inc. NY, us.

in reply to: Adore vinyl barcode question… #47001

If this does in fact mean that it’s a promo copy, then that’s fairly special. I haven’t heard of promotional copies of the Adore lp before.
And I’d advise you not to remove the shrinkwrap. Otherwise there is no more way to prove that it’s a promo copy. (Everyone can take a black marker and put a mark through the barcode on an opened copy.

See also: promo TAFH box, where the barcode is cut out. Never open the shrinkwrap on one of those! http://www.spfreaks.com/default.aspx?pa … &item=2435

in reply to: Adore vinyl barcode question… #47000

This might mean that this copy was not intended to be sold, for example because it was meant to be given away as a promotional copy.

However, I noticed something else with the Adore lp. I’ve got three copies, and all of them have a sticker with a new barcode, that covers the old barcode. (The new barcode is 0 17046 75591 7. The old barcode ends in an 8.) So maybe the original barcode was incorrect, and they didn’t want it to be readable? Hence the mark through the barcode?

Is the barcode on your copy on a sticker, or on the original sleeve? (And what is the barcode?)

Another explanation for the stickers might be that they needed another barcode when these were sold in Europe. In that case this has got nothing to do with the slashed barcodes, I guess.
When I check the copy up on spfreaks.com, I see that there’s no sticker, and that it has the barcode that ends in an 8. Dunno. Is this related to where it was sold? Where did everyone buy their copy, and is there a barcode sticker or not?

Also, on a sidenote, between my three copies, I have two different versions of this sticker. It’s the same barcode number, but a different font is used. Maybe from a different pressing?

Oh wow, a big meet-up tonight. I’m a tiny bit jealous. Have fun at the show, everyone!

in reply to: TSP is coming back to Europe… #44232

Yeah, I’m thinking about bringing earplugs tonight, just in case. Last night was pretty loud.

in reply to: TSP is coming back to Europe… #44229

it’s not unusual that you can’t hear everything when you’re on the front row. you’re too close to the stage. the most you hear is coming directly from the stage (amps and whatnot) and very little from the speakers. you’re in the blind spot of both the speakers on the left and the right. (in front of one stack of speakers on the left or on the right isn’t ideal either: it’s going to be too loud, because you’re too close, and you’re likely to be in the blind spot of the speakers on the other side. the best place is typically at the mixing desk.)

once i was on the front row at a pumpkins gig, in a fairly small venue, and all i could hear was billy’s guitar, directly from the amps on stage, and it hurt my ears. so loud. i had to go and stand a bit further away after a couple of songs. i’m fairly certain i suffered some hearing damage during that gig. my ears were hurting for a couple of days afterwards.

well, if jupiter is looking for the full deluxe digital download, that won’t be a problem; all songs, including the "album only" ones, will be included if the full album is bought.
