Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorrhinowing is one of the main splra guys. his name is ben. i believe he lives somewhere in IL, US.
i don’t know what equipment he has, but he’s definitely been busy transferring vhs tapes he got from someone’s collection.
he also has an account on spfreaks.com, but he’s only made one post on the forum so far: http://forum.spfreaks.com/profile.php?m … ile&u=1410
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorredbull at netphoria seems to be busy transferring some vhs tapes at the moment. i’m not sure if he can do pal ones. but maybe you should ask him.
you can also contact him via email or aim: http://www.splra.org/wiki/index.php?tit … :Rhinowing
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorwe already have \"virtual music\", but with the usb stick, maybe \"miscellaneous\" should be used?
also, in what kind of category would something like this end up: http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=547319
and is this item, or similar ones, already on spfreaks.com?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorlast thing i tried to properly pay attention to was that anniversary tour. i gave up after while as almost all the shows were the same. i missed all of spirits in the sky and what have you there. or any other touring since. i’ve heard the teargarden songs so far, but that’s it.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI really like this version of My Love is Winter compared with the one they played last year.[/quote:8mjkp3ma]i don’t even know how the one they played last year sounds.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatordanke.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorapparently the release date is 29 november now.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorwhat does it look like? (pictures?)
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori wonder if it’s a cd-r.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorRight?[/quote:3qlq295k]oh, yes, definitely.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorwhat if it had never occurred to you that it might not be the real thing? if your first thought is: \"oh, cool, that cabaret metro cd for sale. that doesn’t happen very often. and it’s only $20 for now. and it’s in excellent condition. let’s give it a shot.\"?
dunno. i’ve never seen a bootleg for this cd before. it’s not impossible to make the mistake of not thinking that this might not be what you first thought it was.
i don’t think it’s fair to put the responsability with the buyer. you say the seller has no intention to mislead, but then why didn’t they include a picture? or a description that makes it clear what it is (and what it isn’t). this auction could be for anything. not clear at all.people shouldn’t be selling fakes on ebay in the first place. it’s against the rules too.
honeymade opiate, can you let me know what the case is with this cd? if it’s a fake, i might start reporting these to ebay.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthat seller is selling another copy right now. he’s also selling drown, the live bootleg. both facts make me indeed believe it’s probably a bootleg. but who knows?
what makes you think it’s homemade? are you thinking cd-r? wouldn’t it be hard to get a 100% positive feedback by selling nothing but cd-r bootlegs on ebay?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorhmmm… my guess is that that is a mistake. it was originally announced like this, so maybe they based their article on the old announcement?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorIf that auction is for the real cd, in a decent condition, they were really silly not to include some pictures. I’m sure it would have gone for more.

Is this a bootleg cd? Or just a very unclear listing of the "Live at Cabaret Metro 10-5-88" cd? What about that code in the auction description? Is it just their own reference to the auction, or is it supposed to be the release code or matrix code of the cd?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorgood job though. it’s always good to run some checks on the collection.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori guess i feel like if it is a test pressing, it wouldn’t have white label promo counterparts. at least with smashing pumpkins, known test pressings are test pressings and white label promos are white label promos. correct me if i’m wrong. i can’t think of an example where i’d say both exist for the same release.[/quote:uhfgn61x]
why wouldn’t both exist for the same release? i think both must exist. well, at least the test pressing does. every vinyl will have a test pressing of a handful of copies (or less).these white label promos were pressed hundreds at a time, to be used as a promo. there is no way they pressed all of those without doing a test pressing first. what if something was wrong with it? throw the hundreds of already pressed vinyls away?
i’m not a vinyl factory employee, so i don’t know how they actually do it, but i don’t see why they wouldn’t press the white label promos in the same run as the copies that are commercially released. the only difference is the label and the sleeve, but those are applied afterwards.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorit’s always hard or even impossible to tell if a white label vinyl is a test pressing or not. your best guess is to say that it isn’t.
maybe this one copy is known to be a test pressing, because someone knows the back story?
or maybe it is indeed listed incorrectly at a time where both terms (test pressing and white label promo) got mixed up?if this is known to be a test pressing, because the owner knows where it came from, then this listing is correct. and the only reason the other vinyl singles don’t have a test pressing entry on spfreaks.com, is because we haven’t found any test pressings of these other releases. (that’s not inconsistent, it’s just incomplete.)
but it stays likely that this is also a copy where we don’t know if it is a test pressing or not.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatormaybe one is supposed to be from the test pressing, and the other one is an ordinary white label promo?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorwill do.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoryep, that’s where i got it. should be worth it.
unless they’re including some dates in europe on their mars tour. then i would have travelled all the way to mars, while i could have seen a show on their mars tour closer to home.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorbooked a ticket to mars while they’re still cheap. a bit of a gamble, but i trust all will roll out as planned.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoralso, i found out that all the work i did yesterday – which was actually quite a lot – can be thrown away again. and then i’ll have to do it again in a couple of weeks. this is not good for my motivation.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorit’s one of those days again. i think i’m just that tiny bit too tired to work properly. bleh.
