Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorspfc.org says late ’98.
edit: and in case you missed this, the first release of the mcis 3lp, i.e. the numbered one, was released in april 1996. (and not october 1995, like the cd.)
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorThe unnumbered copies (but with an empty white box! otherwise it’s a fake) are the second pressing of the album. The first pressing was numbered and limited, but we’ve seen numbers as high as 23,000, so they’re not as rare as you might expect. The unnumbered version seems harder to find, so we assume it’s rarer.
About the number 1,916: ok, that’s lower than most, knowing that it goes up to 20,000 and more, but it’s still a high number. No need to wee your pants here.
There’s this rumour that everything under 5,000 is from the very first pressing, and then the higher numbers are from another run, which makes the lower numbers more collectible for some, but I think that’s incorrect.
What I think has happened is this: the MCIS vinyl was announced to be released, limited and numbered. The first announcements mentioned 5,000 copies, later mentioned 10,000 or so, and then, when the vinyl finally got released (I believe there might have been some delays), even higher numbers showed up.
In short: these low pressing numbers were only mentioned before they started pressing them. Once they finally started producing the numbered vinyls, they made a lot more, all at the same time. Only later (two years later), they made more copies, now leaving the white box empty.Looks like spfc.org tells a similar story: http://www.spfc.org/songs-releases/disc … scog_id=18
# The 3LP version of MCIS was originally solicited in February of 1996 as a limited-to-5000, numbered edition. When it was finally released in April, it was allegedly limited to 15,000. Since that time, numbers above 18,000 have been confirmed, leaving open the question of how many copies were actually pressed.
# In late 1998, the MCIS 3LP was repressed. The new pressing is unnumbered (leaving the number box empty), and the sleeve is made of flimsier material. [/quote:1oftlmc2]
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorSmashing Pumpkins in 2010 isn’t even a tiny bit interesting in me opinion. But then again…. that’s just me.
Pixies would be kool to see again though. Been a while since the last time….. harr, harr, harr…[/quote:jnckb65v]
i agree.i wouldn’t do much effort to see sp play again today. they’d have to play next door. or at least in a place i can reach with a short and simple train ride.
on the other hand, i’m seeing the pixies again at the end of may. even though i only saw them in october last year.
you can’t really compare the two though. sp is still about credibility and not selling out, or at least, that’s the message they’re sending out. pixies is clearly back to collect the money they never got when they were first around. no new music has been recorded since their reunion (with the exception of one song). but somehow, their way of doing it is more successful, in general, and to me.
i guess it’s a matter of what you want to do. clearly, billy never wanted to have a collect-the-money reunion, playing all the hits and cash in. and that’s respectful. but i fear i lost interest for the moment. (i’m not even sure if i’ll buy the first teargarden single.) maybe one day…

A shortened version of the \"Boemerang\" sketch from the show gained popularity on YouTube. It features a presenter of a serious talk show breaking into fits of giggles after hearing the voice of one of his guests, who spoke in a squeaky manner due to a failed tonsillectomy. The clip is often mistaken for being real, and was showcased on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Star Channel news as being so.
The fictitious laughing presenter \"Erik Hartman\" is a character played by Tom Van Dyck, a Flemish comedian and actor. The two guests are portrayed by Lucas Van Den Eynde (as Valère) and An Miller (as Marijke). The full version of the sketch shows the Hartman character as a radio DJ looking back upon the giggling incident that had caused him to be fired.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorThanks, Arthur. I’m curious.
Are you allowed to share the pictures too?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthat reminds me of that copy of live in chicago 23.10.95 that arrived broken. the seller, from france, sent it to me in a regular paper envelope. a rare cd in a cardboard sleeve, sent in a fookin’ envelope!
it’s such a shame to see a nice promo like that go to waste. on top of that, the seller claimed that he was not responsible for this. can you believe that? he sent it in a paper envelope. jebus!
that’s probably the only time i left negative feedback on ebay.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI hope your stuff’s just sitting in Customs, they’re not bothered whether you’re waiting or not.[/quote:212oaoix]
I really hope this is the case. It would be great to still receive the missing packages, even if it takes another month. But I’m not counting on it.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorGood point. I was already thinking that there could be something wrong on my side, especially since nobody else noticed an increase in missing stuff.
Maybe there’s a new mailman who is messing stuff up? I had a bit of a mailman mess-up a couple of weeks ago, but luckily I didn’t loose anything there. The people at the post office had to go through all the packages in order to find mine though. The mailman left me a note for a vinyl that didn’t fit into my mailbox, but somehow didn’t put a code/barcode on it, which made the package virtually disappear.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori can’t watch videos at work (they are blocked) but is that the talk show where people talk about things that went wrong in surgery and then there’s someone in the audience with a very high voice and then the presenter starts laughing and he can’t stop?
it’s not real. it’s a sketch. from the program \"in de gloria\". i believe this sketch even made it onto one of those american late night shows, but i’m not sure how it was presented there (as a real talk show or as a sketch). i assume it was presented there as a real talk show. silly people.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorAssuming you haven’t already, Cake, make an official complaint to who runs your postal service/s…[/quote:3rjvilij]
what good is that going to do? they probably never received those items.
and since it wasn’t sent registered, they’ll throw their hands in the air and claim there’s nothing they can do.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorThis reminds me, that 1880s almanac, that had the same picture as the BWBW cover, never arrived either. I believe that was last summer. I doubt I’ll ever find another copy of that again.
Amongst the recent victims is an unnumbered Strange Fruit 10\". This one was quite expensive. I actually ended up winning it for my maximum bid. It was one of those \"ok, this is a bit too much, but this is what you do if you want to fill the holes in your collection\" bids. Which is all fine if all goes well. But now that it’s gone missing, it makes it extra annoying. Nomsayin?
I’m going to stay away from eBay etc. for a while.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorhow was the open house day, arthur?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthere’s a uk limited edition?
I thought that this was usa only[url:1cafx146]http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=503098[/url:1cafx146][/quote:1cafx146]
that information might not be correct.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorThe cd that was sent again from the US four or five days ago arrived today. Still no sign of the other packages. They’re lost forever.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorpea soup with sausages and a slice of bread.
austria, baby!

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori went skiing.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori don’t think j mascis would stand in anyone’s shadow. he’s just not that kind of guy.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI really hope that will happen now. I haven’t been that busy, really, though.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorcollecting? no, not really. not in an spfreaks kind of way.
i have most of their albums on cd, and a little bit of vinyl, but that’s it. i think i need one more album or so, and that will be it, collecting-wise.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI’m going to see Dinosaur Jr in two months. Woohoo!

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorFor expensive items, yes, I should start asking for registered mail. I never did that until now, because it didn’t seem necessary. Nothing ever got lost, no matter where it was shipped from. Registered mail was just an extra cost that caused extra hassle.
For cheaper items it seems a bit crazy, because then the shipping makes the item too expensive (even if it was almost free without shipping).
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorAnyway, I was wondering, is this a general problem for other people in Europe, or was I just very unlucky?
I’ve noticed some time ago that more and more sellers on eBay started adding the warning that they would only ship insured to Italy, due to too many missing packages, and more recently, I’ve seen that list being expanded, also including France for example. This might be because more and more packages are getting lost (maybe stolen?). I don’t know.
What are your experiences?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorYes, I’ve contacted the sellers. One is really nice and will send me another copy. (Lucky me!) The other one agrees that it should have arrived by now, but what more can I expect? It’s not their fault an item gets lost in the mail.
Also, I normally don’t ask for registered mail, because it’s usually such a hassle (I’m never at home when the mailman comes). So I doubt they have shipping codes.
I might check with my local post office. But I don’t think they’ll be able to help me.
