Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorgot it. i hope this doesn’t turn out to be a purple one. the pictures aren’t that good, and they didn’t send me new ones.[/quote:2n70q4d0]
it’s a purple one. typical.i’m going to hang on to my siamese dream vinyls for now though.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatormy burdock blood bitters almanac still hasn’t arrived. i bought it four months ago. i doubt i’ll ever receive it. too bad.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori’ve received a watermarked zeitgeist from someone who was nice enough to just give it away. i never spread anything from that cd. obviously.
these two i bought on ebay. the sellers did not ask me not to spread it. obviously they didn’t care about it, otherwise they wouldn’t sell it on ebay. all they cared about was making some money. personally, i think it’s ok to spread these, in this situation.
and i really doubt anyone will look up who these cds belonged to. there must be hundreds of rips of zeitgeist out there, all without a watermark. i think there’s no point anymore in checking the watermark today. my rips are just another zeitgeist rip. the audio content is identical (only slightly messed with because of the watermark.)
my only issue with making these rips available is that it’s copyrighted material, and it shouldn’t be spread online. people should buy the album if they want it.
but i assume that everyone already has the album. i hope that nobody who’s looking for a free copy will end up downloading this fairly niche version of the album.for the rest, a lot has been said about these watermarked promos (\"there is no watermark\", \"it’s a premaster\", …) and some people would like to play with several copies in an attempt to find out more about the watermark and maybe isolate it (which i doubt is possible), so here’s everyone’s chance to check it out.
my conclusions: there is a watermark; it’s not a premaster at all.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorno- never seen a copy.

while on topic:what’s YOUR personal MOST WANTED collecting item???[/quote:1ld32uzu]
that’s not on topic, sven. it’s called "hijacking a thread".
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorwhich therefore begs the question as to why all the hassle with even two different vinyl pressings of this single for a song taken from a commercially failing record by an act failing to address a new audience commercially…?[/quote:hzxo2u7f]
i guess they made the decision to release this 7" in both uk and us, for whatever reason.
and then they looked at what would be the cheapest option: press it once and export, or press it twice. i assume pressing it twice ended up cheaper, which is why they chose to press it twice.look at all cd releases: even a silly ep like american gothic got pressings all over the world. (except the us. but i think that was because they decided not to have a cd release in the us, for whatever reasons.)
clearly they do that because it’s cheaper this way.exceptions i can think of: special releases like the tafh box, or that zeitgeist deluxe edition (book-like). these were all made in the us, and then distributed all over the world. clearly in this case, manufacturing was too expensive to manufacture it on different locations.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorwhat’s the condition of the mcis us promo? how are the cds, the booklets and the cd case?
i have it, but the case is broken. might want an upgrade if it’s not too expensive.
(i don’t know where i can buy empty cd cases that look enough like the original. every empty double cd case i find looks too crappy.)
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthe colour (red vs. purple) is directly linked to the origin (us vs. uk).
and it’s not so weird to have a different pressing for us and uk. it’s happened before, and also for limited vinyl releases. check out the 1979 mixes 12\" for example. it was released in the us and in the uk, and both releases have a different rpm.
my theory is that it’s more common in the us to release 33 rpm vinyl singles. and in the uk 45 rpm vinyl singles are the norm.
either way, if the single gets a vinyl release in both uk and us, it’s only normal they have unique pressing plates. this has always been this way. (if this wasn’t the case, the vinyl is normally pressed in one country, and then maybe exported.)
check out the siamese dream vinyls, for an example of this: the little bit of talking between spaceboy and silverfuck is on side 3 on the us release, but on side 4 on the uk release. (or was it the other way around?)quite interesting: yes. but not more than that, for me.
i have both, but i don’t feel like comparing much. i never heard any difference listening to them on my stereo, and i wouldn’t know what more i can do.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorIt’s the day after now. Banana dance anyone?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI think this one really looks red, and both discs are even the same color, judging by this pic only.
Still for sale on eBay Japan (price now on 8 bucks), for who’s interested. eBay #300375605993.

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori bought a scanner! i should be able to scan some stuff before 2010.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori have two pink ones, by the way.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthat’s not pink. it’s just a bad picture from the orange/peach vinyl. don’t buy this if pink vinyl is what you’re after.
and i also think that previous one you posted is what can best be described as maroon. it’s close to the purple swirly vinyl, but maybe the different colours have mixed a bit more, resulting in this maroon colour.
i haven’t got that colour variation yet, so i might check out that auction.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori’m convinced that this isn’t anything new.
i don’t even want to invest any time in it, trying to find out what dates the shows are from.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI compared the two tracks with every known version of Machina II, and Real Love also to the version that was released on Rotten Apples.
I easily came to the conclusion that both tracks on your cd-r are sourced from the \"Virgin promo\" version of Machina II. The only big difference is that the very beginning of Cash Car Star seems to be missing on your cd-r. (Or is it at the end of the previous track, maybe?)
Anyway, this doesn’t help us any further if we’re discussing how \"real\" this cd-r is. If it actually was a Virgin promo, it makes sense that they’d use the same source they used for the Machina II promo cd-rs. On the other hand, this doesn’t prove anything: anyone can have downloaded the Virgin promo source at some point during the last years and created his own little cd-r…
Could be both, really.
My main issue with this cd-r is that it doesn’t make much sense to me.Can you share a rip of Untitled maybe? I wonder what that track looks like.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectator12.50 guldens to see the pumpkins? bargain!
