Earphoria was very popular for bootleggers, because it’s a very rare release, and because the music isn’t available anywhere else. And I think back in the day it was a lot harder to find info about the real promo, so anything that didn’t look too suspicious would have been good enough.

The question \"who would go through the effort?\" doesn’t bring us much further. That’s what everyone was wondering about those fake MCIS vinyls, because it seems a lot of work. Someone did it though.

    I am deeply offended.

The status of this release isn’t very clear. Is it official? If not, how \"fake\" is it? The cds and booklets are real.
Anyway, as far as I know there isn’t much reason to think that the copy on spfreaks.com would be more official than another copy that looks a bit different.

The seller mentions a cd with signatures. Any idea what that is supposed to mean?

farthur is right! this download is useless.

i might have it saved somewhere. i’ll look for it later. (thursday or later.)

    hi guys;-)
hi mayonayse, yes lets keep hoping,at least hope’s free..
cool as ice cream,i’ve read some of yr posts here and there, were u able to make the belgian flag with the fake mcis lps in the end??
i must congratulate, you always show competence and politeness.
so it was YOU placing the impossible bid…i was following that too-and already making room in my showcase
belgium..i knew a guy once…a great sp collector and a very nice lad;he sold me some cool stuff at good prices..his name was william,do you know him?[/quote:2886ig35]
    i don’t think i know william.

i didn’t buy the red fake mcis lp. it would be a waste of money.
in fact, i want to sell the black and yellow one i own. i bought them to find out more about them, but now i no longer need them. i don’t collect bootlegs. on the other hand, i don’t want to lie to anyone and pretend i’m selling a real copy.

and i’m not always polite. i’m glad you think i am though. that’s a good thing. haha.

I also noticed that some things are missing from the spfreaks.com collection, especially in the vinyl section.
But that’s what’s so great about this new feature: a lot of people will go through their collection and notice exactly what is still missing on here. Then, if everyone would be so nice to submit missing releases to spfreaks.com, we can further complete our collection.

I also agree with Arthur: spfc.org is great, but not as complete as spfreaks.com. I’m sure there are a lot more cd and vinyl releases on spfreaks.com than there are on spfc.org.
If you don’t care for t-shirts or ticket stubs, you can always select a category you are interested in (e.g. \"official vinyl\"), and filter the other entries out.

i deleted the temporary internet files and now all works fine. thanks!

in reply to: We’re back! #26156

    when i surf to http://www.spfreaks.com/ i still get an \"under construction\" message.

http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=HOMEPAGE works fine, but i’m certain that most people use the shorter http://www.spfreaks.com to access the site.

I think most of it is clear.

If we can believe Billy, D’arcy was fired, because they could no longer count on her. In the beginning, they said she left the band, possibly to protect her. But maybe it’s a little bit of both. This is vague, but it seems that it was messy, so I understand that nobody feels like giving all the details.

James wanted to leave the Pumpkins. And that was basically it. Billy (and Jimmy?) decided that they could not continue the band without James, so they were going to break up. And James agreed to stay until the end, instead of leaving right away.
Now deciding who’s to blame for the breakup is rather useless. If Billy says it’s James’ fault, one can understand that: if James hadn’t decided to leave, they probably would have continued. But when James says that Billy is the one who made the decision, he’s also right: James only decided to leave, he didn’t say they should break up, Billy made that decision.
(Would anyone have preferred it if James stayed part of a band he no longer wanted to be in?)

Somewhere I’d love to know every little detail about it. Their relationships, what was said when, bring on the documentary already!
But I don’t really need to. I believe the above is basically how it went, and I don’t demand to know more. This wasn’t the nicest episode in the life of the Pumpkins, so I respect it if they want to keep most of it to themselves. It’s also nice of them, I think, that they didn’t bring the mud slinging to a peak. Billy said some things that shocked, but if you put it into perspective, it wasn’t all that bad. Probably just (a part of) the truth.

I can read French, but I don’t care.

    you remembered side B. :)

    Record 1 Side B: CAROL-1740-1-B S-27900 MASTERDISK

    Record 2 Side B: CAROL-1740-1-D S-27902 MASTERDISK[/quote:1m3aunh3]

i’ve had this one for a while now. i believe it’s the latest pressing. matrix codes and artwork are 100% identical to the coloured caroline releases.

so, in a way, this is just another colour of the same release.

    (edit: january 2007: http://forums.netphoria.org/showpost.ph … stcount=83)

18 is not bad, but i’ve seen it for less. not much less though.

anyway, this isn’t rare. it’s the latest pressing, and available everywhere. just like gish and adore on vinyl.

I wish I could just be there and guide you around town. I lived there for a couple of years, when I was a student.

wow. very good price. i wish i could have bought it for that price.

My parents live 1,000 miles north of me, and I’m planning a trip to go see them… they must think I’m nuts because I keep saying, "well if I win this contest I have to be here on this date" hahahahahaha[/quote:wy73bdpa]
Haha. I agree with your parents.

I personally think the Rose March is a fake. The copy on SPfreaks and the copy I own have different matrix numbers. Why would that be?[/quote:3ld4qw3p]
    Because it’s a cd-r?

    in reply to: G.L.O.W ??? #25065

I also think that that promo for The Rose March is real. But it wouldn’t be hard to make something very similar for G.L.O.W., for example. And then that would be a fake, but you won’t be able to tell if you don’t know, because it looks identical to the Rose March promo.

    in reply to: G.L.O.W ??? #25060

I think it’s a dangerous evolution that people are paying this much for cd-r promos. It makes it very inviting for people to start creating their own \"promos\".

Check out that . Anyone with a cd label printer can make that.
By the way, have you noticed how that promo says \"Smashing Pumkins\" instead of \"Smashing Pumpkins\"?

    in reply to: G.L.O.W ??? #25055

the guy is a true collector and fan: he needs two copies, so he can keep one sealed and listen to the other one.

in reply to: Cheap award #25519

i don’t think they play. or if they do, they’re not the album you thought it would be.

    in reply to: G.L.O.W ??? #25048

this eiffel person also won that delabel acetate promo of rotten apples. for $355.

we’re fucked, guys. this one has a lot of money.

in reply to: sick sick vinyls #20609

i asked about it (again) earlier this week. finally i’ve been able to explain that the picture on spfc.org is clearly from a cd, and not from the vinyl.

he’s going to check on his copy and make a scan/pic. it’s somewhere in storage, so i’m not sure when i will get an update.
