ArthurSpectatorBut what \"real\" poetry do you like?
I remember these poet lines, it goes like this.
Once I wrote her name in the sand
But came the waves and washed it awayFor some silly reason these lines (don’t know if I wrote them down properly) pop up in my mind sometimes.
Also these lines I like:
Hebban olla vogala nestas hagunnan
Hinase hic enda thu(This is Middle Age Dutch, it means \"All birds have started making nests, except you and me\". Sweet!

blueczarinaSpectatorSince Arthur wants to see real poetry, here is a line from AfanasI Fet, a Russian poet. I think its a pretty poem- nice imagery.
excerpt from \"By life tormented, and by cunning hope…\"
And all that rushes through the abyss of ether,
And every ray, embodied or ethereal,-
Is but your reflection, O universal sun,
It is but a dream, but a fleeting dream. -

SuperlordspamulonSpectatorPoetry usually doesn’t do anything for me. I much prefer lyrics – the music adds more elements to it.
And frankly, some lyrics are just better than poetry.
I mean, Sunny Day Real Estate’s song ‘Grendel’. It’s essentially a couplet in the written form (there are only two lines in the booklet ) And it doesn’t rhyme, but it actually says so much.
\"The rain was there to wash away my tears
I wanted to be them but instead I destroyed myself\"It’s really obvious… but says so much. It’s so powerful. And the song just adds to it too!

manillascissorKeymastermy eyes
they mean nothing
your eyes
tell of many lies
our souls
burned by a touch of love
apart forever
never to meet again

now these eyes are closed -

for your gleeful acquiesence makes me cry

MarcellaSpectatorThis is my favorite poem translated to English.
Stop, shadow of my evading goodness
image of the charm I want the most,
beautiful illusion I willingly die for,
sweet fiction I disgracefully live for.If to the magnet of your grace, attractive,
my chest serves as obedient steel,
why do you enamor me then, flatterer,
if you’ll mock me later fugitive? But you can’t brag, satisfied,
that your tyranny triumphs in me:
as even if you dismiss the narrow bondthat your fantastic form encircled,
little it matters to ignore arms and chest
if my fantasy serves you as prison. -

It’s by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, a very famous Mexican poet. She was a nun and lovers came to her asking for poems.

manillascissorKeymasterWe stood beneath
The shadows danced as we held hands
So beautiful, eternally locked in warm embrace
To this day, I cry to remember the face
But with such beauty
Comes so much pain
Pain no doctors can supress
Pain no one has ever felt
Pain like no other has seen before
And the pain, it glows back at me
And drives the bones into the dirt
Over again, I rise to see
The cold moonlight that clouds beauty -

ArthurSpectatorI think manilla creates cool poetry. It inspired me to search for my little poetry book that I made in 1991, with several poets I wrote in the period 1982 – 1989. (Yes, that many years ago ). They are in Dutch, but I will try giving them a proper English translation.
Just a few examples:
Verzet
steeds
uitglijdend
in een cyclus
van slapeloze tijden
is er soms
die verleiding
mijzelf
stil te zetten
om
voortaan
willoos
verder
te
gaanResistance
all the time
slipping
in a cycle of sleepless times
there is sometimes
that temptation
to stop
myself
and
continue
numb
and
without
any
will -
2008.09.21 at 12:16 pm #13605
AnonymousSpectatorwow! That is awesome. I like it
It looks cool in Dutch, but to try and read it
thanks for translating it:)
I suck ass at poetry… If I ever do attempt I wonder how long it will take me to complete the first 2 lines.
Maybe I should just try…if I succeed I will post it here first -

ArthurSpectatorThis is one that I’m kinda proud of. It are 4 poets belonging together.
like water
healing is your voice
I drink
from your hands a drip
many colors stinge me
they pain me like water
and your eyes are deep
troubled like my thoughtsdrunk I am
drownedlike fire
hot is your eye
I swallow
from your hair a scent
many colors steal me
they pain me like fire
and your teases don’t fail
troubled like my thoughtsone thousand degrees I am
burnedlike ice
cold is your memory
I bite
from your heart a piece
many colors caress me
they pain me like ice
and your moves are in vain
troubled like my thoughtsice ice cold I am
frozenlike wood
sealed is your body
I caress
from your head a hatred
many colors strengthen me
they pain me like wood
and thin are your whispers
troubled like my thoughtsI bend, I bend

ArthurSpectatorLast one. More coming, promise, I kinda like to re-read that old poetry I wrote, makes me smile!
Lego girl
oh I wish I had
4 arms
to wrap around you
4 hands
to caress you intense
4 ears
to hear every of your whisper
2 noses
for the wild scent of your hair
2 mouths
well, you know why…oh I wish I was twice
because I’m addicted to you -

ArthurSpectatorThanks Marcella.
Here’s another one.
Am I right
Or am I wrong
If I say that you think of me
Of someone that you cannot love
Yes you, with your beautiful profile
Is the world too small for us?
Hell, turn around and run
There are many others waiting for youAm I right
Or am I wrong
If I say that you don’t feel sorry
That I send you away in an empty world
You will not cry any tear
For me, it’s clear
Turn around and go away
There are many others longing for youAm I right
Or am I wrong
If I say: you only went cold
When I bored you with my feelings
Damned, I was so wrong
You, who were once my friend & lover
Turn around, and run fast bitch
There are many others so horny for you -
2008.09.21 at 3:59 pm #13613
ArthurSpectatorSome people found this one quite \"annoying\" back in the days…
Dreamlove
you dreamed about me
I noticed
and I fight your lonely love
you tried to withstand me
but magical,
almost unnoticed,
and like a king I conquered
your thoughtsmy hands float around you
I opened your falcon body
you tried to stop me
but I entered you
stubborn & strong
barehanded, nakedlove us

blueczarinaSpectatori like them Arthur- they aren’t annoying.
just out of curiosity- did you write them in Dutch originally or English?
-
2008.09.21 at 6:13 pm #13617
MarcellaSpectatorI don’t see what’s annoying on that last one, it’s gorgeous! And if they were written in Dutch originally, congratulations, they sound great in English as well.
-
2008.09.21 at 9:43 pm #13618
ArthurSpectatorIn Dutch originally, all of them. That last one for example is like this in Dutch:
Droomliefde
je hebt mij gedroomd
ik zag het
ik overwon je eenzame liefde
je probeerde me uit te houden
maar magisch
onzichtbaar en
onaantastbaar overmeesterde ik
je gedachtenmijn handen zweven over je
lichaamsopeningen als valkuilen
je probeert me tegen te houden
maar stijfkoppig
dring ik bij je binnen
met blote handenheb ons lief
To be honest, it’s must stronger in Dutch, but that’s only visible for the Dutchies I’m afraid.

blueczarinaSpectatorTo be honest, it’s must stronger in Dutch, but that’s only visible for the Dutchies I’m afraid. [/quote:hofw1g6s]
true^^ as to be honest it looks a bit like gibberish to me
-
2008.09.21 at 9:59 pm #13620
ArthurSpectatorI don’t know what is gibberish…
But what I mean is, there are several deeper layers in the poem that go haywire when being translated to English.
This part for example
\"mijn handen zweven over je
lichaamsopeningen als valkuilen\"would be litteraly
\"my hands float over your
body doors like falcon-owls\"which is nicely translated (see them fly, the falcons over the (dead?) body?), but \"valkuilen\" also means \"traps\", like the body has traps where my hands shouldn’t go in… Anyway, hard to explain, I hope I did my best, and made it a joyful experience anyway for you to read.
-
2008.09.21 at 10:06 pm #13621
blueczarinaSpectatorhehe, yes you did a better job translating.
oh, and \"gibberish\" is basically just a bunch of words that you don’t understand, derive no meaning from because you don’t know the language or whatever, makes no sense, etc…
i don’t know anything really for the most part when it comes to germanic languages, so it looks a bit different to me.

Return To ComfortSpectatorI’m still trying to decipher Manilla’s latest prose.
Arthur, yours are interesting–such a different style than a lot of poetry. I can completely understand why translating doesn’t quite work. That’s always an issue when switching languages.
The only \"poems\" I right are silly notes to people, very Seuss-esque. I used to write a lot, but more just journal-style. Did it almost every day for years. Stopped abruptly about half-way through college. It’s funny though, I still have my journals from when I was in about 7th grade on. Cracks me up to go back and read about what I perceived as important at those times.

Round and round we go
In my arms, you are so heavy
I close my eyes and pull you close
To feel your breath, we share one pulse
The time comes to pass you to another
From this one to the other
One two three four
Now promenade
In his arms you are content
Within his arms, he can protect
Alone, without my partner
I swirl down to the grass
Palms up and grasping
The square dance taps in uniform
Joyously exiting the barn door

longing for the end

MarcellaSpectatorSince we’re talking about sad poems…this isn’t exactly a poem, more like…I have no idea o_o.
Butterflies tap my windowpane
Their crystal wings shimmering with light
My eyes, half closed, I sway with the sound
Of the cherished scene, purposely bright.
The walls that trap me shiver
Like autumn leaves ready to fall
That small sight of bliss closes, withers
As darkness encloses me with a final swap.
As blind as true love, is such beauty within
Impossible to notice unless once slaughtered
As once pure, as gelid, like the breast of a dove
After the sin commited leaves its crimson matter.
Seconds and hours loose all of their charm
My insides don’t long for just every-day time
One always wants what one should never have
The forbidden is sweet, but freedom it lacks.
And what is such word, nowadays, for myself?
The meaning is buried under covers of shame
Yet through such glorious shards, glitters calling me outside
I see what I could’ve had, if only I had seen it the first time. -

Return To ComfortSpectatorI am a queen in your eyes, in your hands.
King you are to me, my friend, my lover.
We are two sides of the same coin,
One and the same, yet never touching.
Our kingdom is an elusive heaven.
Appearing and disappearing, as the tides of a mirage.
How quickly it vanishes, when you go into hiding.
I yearn for your touch from afar.
You disappear from my life,
Leaving me adrift in a sea of emotions.
Tides pull me one direction,
Winds push me in another.
You will reappear on the horizon,
My body burns as I try to reach you
Before you vanish again. -

A piece of me pushed under
Where did she go?
Where did she hide?
I’m on my way
to give peace within
I give my all
It’s who I am
truth be told
Go for love
Go for allFeel life everyday
no matter, no more
selfish desire
close that door
Awaken the mind
Open your heart
it can not burn anymore
Go for love
Go for all

Return To ComfortSpectatorFall to Winter, Day to Night
Life and liveliness of summer wane,
The colors and excitement fade.
I echo back, theme music slowing,
Allegro to adagio.Daylight diminishes,
The dark of night is augmented.
My life mimics,
Each minute calmer.Leaves fall and grass browns,
Preparing for the depth of winter.
I mirror, settling into my own warmth,
Strong and comforting.Fall leaves, winter arrives.
Interpreted death is truly life.
I copy, giving into the night,
Rejuvenation for tomorrow. -

manillascissorKeymasterI wrote this in college, about starting to drink and smoke: If only I listened to myself.
————————————————————————————————————————-
I’m walking down this carnival highway. You know, the empty, sticky, flashy, jet-engine aisle…the dirty path traveled by the millions. At first, I am mute. Energy of all wavelengths passes through me, reaching me via distinguished media…vibrations, noises, headlights, flames of yellow and red, beckoning my submission. I am silent. For I have heard of the evil. The fake. The hypocrite. The sinner. Smiling with glittered teeth and eyes of molten steel, he flies to me. With clawed hands open and bat wings spread. I am offered to taste his nectar. The life juice of darkness. And as the quiet moon pulsates onto my head, I take my virgin sip of nothingness. It goes down like a snake crawling into my stomach, it’s body opening and slithering and becoming one with my soul. And now, removal of the beast would surely mean death…for it is a part of me. It is me. And I look behind to see where to go and the heat blasts burn my eyes. The silver lenses see far above, but the blackness comes rushing down. Down, down, down. Crushing and extinguishing the sought after and needed, until the horizontals dominate. A vacuum begins from inside and when I look forward, my snake is just leaving. On to pursue another being. To eat what is his and control what was once mine.

The one true love
Will never leave this home
She’s my little baby
She’s my little angelIf she had wings
She’d fly far above
Into cold nights
To bring the light
To see what she could see
To be what she could beShe runs across to grab my legs
And grounds me for all days
Her little smile
Her cute laughs
Are enough to thank
A man’s dark pastYes, she’s my angel
Born without wings
Serving a lifeforce
Yet to be seen
She’s close to the ground
Angels never fly this lowConstantly
She gives to me
Tears of joy
She never sees
She is my world
She is my cause
Forever I want
To embrace those armsShe is simply

ArthurSpectatorTranslations of the Carmina Burana.
Firstly, the first one was a little creative redo of some texts I like from the Carmina Burana. The second one is a full original text. This is so… Arthur.
sweetheart, be mine
o beautiful girl
in my times and in my song
I carry you on my hands
and my heart will not leave you
where-ever I may roamyou got the most beautiful face
your eyes full of light
hair like no-one has
and a body where everything sparkles from life!every rose shrinks in your presence
every lily turns grey
you most beautiful of all
in the inside of my thighs
a fire starts to burnI will do everything what love commands
to you I belong, to you alone! And the second poet goes like this:
burning inside
with violent anger
bitterly
I speak to my heart
created from matter
of the ashes of the elements
I am like a leaf
played with by the windsif it is the way
of the wise man
to build
foundations on stone
then I am a fool like
a flowing stream
which in its course
never changesI am carried along
like a ship without a steersman
and in the paths of the air
like a light hovering bird
chains cannot hold me
keys cannot imprison me
I look for people like me
and join the wretchesthe heaviness of my heart
seems like a burden to me
it is pleasant to joke
and sweeter than honeycomb
whatever Venus commands
is a sweet duty
she never dwells
in a lazy heartI travel the broad path
as is the way of youth
I give myself to vice
unmindful of virtue
I am eager for the pleasures of the flesh
more than for salvation
my soul is dead
so I shall look after the flesh -

manillascissorKeymasterExhales her warm sigh into the cold night
And rears back, impatiently waiting
For two to join her in the back of the train
Together once more, never againHe grabs the reins and gives a silent pull
She sets on foot, ready to go
A cool wind blows across her nape
Sending gossamer hair flowing through spaceSo proud to lead the two on their journey
Not knowing any of their story
But lead she did, just the same
And became the horse with no nameTo bring the pair into the night
Where two must decide flee or fight
The black chariot rolls up to a stop
No more horses clop, clop, clopOne turns and bows, a decision made
And exits the chariot, alone, afraid
The door is closed and movement regains
Alone he joins the horse with no name -

Return To ComfortSpectatorAround the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone,
And I never see my old friend’s face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell,
And he rang mine.
You see, we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
\"Tomorrow\", I say, \"I will call on him.\"
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away.
I get a phone call–\"He’s giving up on friends\",
And that’s what we get and deserve in the end,
Around the corner, a vanished friend. -

manillascissorKeymasterAround the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone,
And I never see my old friend’s face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell,
And he rang mine.
You see, we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
"Tomorrow", I say, "I will call on him."
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away.
I get a phone call–"He’s giving up on friends",
And that’s what we get and deserve in the end,
Around the corner, a vanished friend.[/quote:2u18g2o3]Thought RTC didn’t do poetry.

manillascissorKeymasterThrough this blood-red desert
I walk alone
Sand grains sift
Through thy toes
On this journey
I’ve never been
On this journey
It never ends
My toes and feet
Begin to heat
Reaction to
The sunlight’s beat
Forward for now
And backward never
I see a mirage
Revealed, a mirror
Reflections I’ve already seen
Reflections I can’t see between
Reflections that burn thy soul
Reflections that cannot be real
Eolian flocks upon my chest
Eolian sand I begin to digest
Despite all the questions
I keep going
To spite all corrections
One step more
The grainy silence
Grinds my voice
And into the lake
I follow without choice
But the lake is dry
Liquid quartz
Here I lay
A baked corpse -

manillascissorKeymasterNot mine, but these lyrics remind me of something I’d write:
Nirvana – Sappy
And if you save yourself
You will make him happy
He’ll keep you in a jar
And you’ll think you’re happy
He’ll give you breathing holes
Then you’ll think you’re happy
He’ll cover you with grass
And you’ll think you’re happy
NowYou’re in a laundry room,
You’re in a laundry room
Conclusion came to you, ohAnd if you cut yourself
You will think you’re happy
He’ll keep you in a jar
Then you’ll make him happy
He’ll give you breathing holes
Then you’ll think you’re happy
He’ll cover you with grass
Then you’ll think you’re happy
NowYou’re in a laundry room,
You’re in a laundry room
Conclusion came, oh (x2)And if you fool yourself
You will make him happy
He’ll keep you in a jar
And you’ll think you’re happy
He’ll give you breathing holes
Then you will seem happy
You’ll wallow in your shit
Then you’ll think you’re happy
NowYou’re in a laundry room (x3)
Conclusion came to you, oh -

your tears they mean nothing to me
the wind howling at the window
the love you never gave
I give to you
Really dont deserve it
but now there’s nothing you can do
so sleep in your only memory of me
my dearest mother
Heres a lullaby to close your eyes goodbye
it was always you that I despised
I dont feel enough for you to cry oh well
heres a lullaby to close your eyes goodbye
goodbye
So insignificant
sleeping dormant deep inside of me
are you hiding away lost
under the sewers
maybe flying high in the clouds
perhaps you’re happy without me
so many seeds have been sown in the field
and who could sprout up so blessedly
if I had died
I would have never felt sad at all
you will not hear me say ‘m sorry
where is the light
wonder if its weeping somewhere

I never gave it a titel, so i guess its called Untitled.I once thought about calling it the Madman Diary.
Its about a guy who writes his diary, well its written like a diary.Anyway its about this guy totally fucked up and he really dont know it, until the end. Some murders starts to appear in the city he lives in, and he dont know who the killer is, so bla bla bla.It turns out his working with devil himself, doing hits for him coz devil cant do it by himself cos that will fuck up the whole god/devil system,so jack dreams every night about the murders he has to do, and when he wakes up, he cant remember a thing, until one day he kills his beloved girlfreind, thats were things get werid, god approach to him dressed like santa clause, i know its sounds fucked (blame jack), well god approach jack in his dream as santa clause telling him devils plan. he does it because so devil cant see him in jacks dreams ( jacks head is fucked). So basically the devil want to corrupt a bunch of human to comite those murders, the murders on god´s unknown disciples, they guard the gates, and he needs to have them removed so devil can take control bla bla bla…….So Jack is wrting all this down in his diary, a prove he is losing his mind.I know this is fucked, but its way better then the explaning i did. -

i think of his music as poetry though and a lot of poetry can be cryptic and can have many meanings. to me that is a mark of how deep his songs are and how amazingly talented he is when it comes to song writing. his music has so many layers, so many levels of meaning which take his music from some dumb pop/ rock song to something more transcendent. plus the instrumentals that accompany it are mind blowing too. i love the pumpkins!

Can’t you feel?
no one is alive
Can’t you love?
no one knows how
catch hold
to nothing,
the emptiness, the void,
the nothing
it’s everything, anything within -

Return To ComfortSpectatorAll I want to do
Is touch you
To feel your skin against mine.
Its warmth pulls me in.Touch you
To have your arms around me,
Safety all around.Touch you
To feel your whiskers against my cheek,
The distance between us no more.Touch you
Fingers intertwining,
Joining in the strength weâve found.Touch you
Teeth accidentally clicking
As we kiss the time awayTouch you
Hands through hair
Goosebumps down my bodyTouch you
Your breath is my breath,
Living in sync.Touch you
Hearts beating in rhythm,
As they are meant to.Touch you
To see you
By merely opening my eyesTouch you
Spooning in a king size bed,
Lonliness becomes unknown.Touch you
Your life joining with mine
Happiness a realityTouch you
Lips to lips
I am finally home. All I want to do, is touch you
All I want, is to touch you
All I want is to touchâ¦.you. -

No one there to fill my arms
You broke me so completely
I tried picking up my pieces
And put them in my pocket
And began the road walking
Over time a pace hastened
Hoping to find love waiting
To feel, to touch
To listen, to trust
And it’s not easy to say to you
Just how much you put me through
Your touch means so much to me
If again baby, please
Be gentle with me -

Im a Cult HeroSpectatorJust starting to try and get into poetry :
1. Nostalgia
A former me visited today
Face a vision of disgust
voice coloured by contempt
He was full of things to say
with judgements I knew to trust
And demanding that I repent. This ghost of a former life
his expression changed to one of shame
Sadness filling eyes, once fiery and heated
He stole the air from the room when he sighed. He cut through my veneer like a knife
he knew the secrets, and who to blame
the man before him, jaded and defeated
It was then I realised, I was glad he had died.2.Finite
Not until I fell in love,
Did I know how short forever was. -

at the thought of us
at the thought of you and i
together forever
in a strange land
a new and foreign place
so brand new
yet so distantyes, i’m scared
yes, i can’t breathe
yes, i have doubtbut i can look at you
your soul
you
you in a white dress
on a cliff with me beside you
scared to take the plunge
but with your hand in mine
falling from grace
falling from a cliff face
fallingis all i ever wanted
pull me from the waves to shore
and rescue me
give me heart to heart

manillascissorKeymasterWhat moonsongs
Do you sing your babies?
What sunshine do you bring?Who belongs
Who decides who’s crazy
Who rights wrongs where others cling?I’ll sing for you
If you want me to
I’ll give to you
And it’s a chance I’ll have to take
And it’s a chance I’ll have to breakI go along
Just because I’m lazy
I go along to be with youAnd those moonsongs
That you sing your babies
Will be the songs to see you throughI’ll hear your song
If you want me to
I’ll sing along
And it’s a chance I’ll have to take
And it’s a chance I’ll have to breakI’m in love with you
I’m in love with you
I’m in love with youI’m in love with you
So in love
I’m in love with you
With you

So in love
I’m in love with you

i haven’t posted drunk in so long (for about 6 mos.), so all my recent stuff is sober. it’s harder to write sober, so i’m glad it’s connecting with someone.
i’d like another drunken beauty to pour out of me though, because i think those are my best. some of jimmy’s best drumming was done sober though, so who knows.
off topic: i think zeitgeist is jimmy’s SP masterpiece.

manillascissorKeymasteronce i gave to you a word, always
today a broken promise made its way
between the space that is our love
to become the new phrase of us
a lie to you, i must have given
and for that, maybe now we are even
times are harder now than ever before
we will get through the next door
together or separate no one knows
my throat gets knotted just thinking
letting you go leaves me sinking
when i thought there was no more room
down i go for the third time -

last_rose_of_summerSpectatori wrote this one the other day when i was feeling depressed at work.
the days are so long
chugging forward like an old steam engine
in slow motion
cowboys and indians running along side
playing shoot em up games
and i am caught in the middle
stuck on this train
going in circles under a christmas tree
the presents are bigger than me
how could one so small open a gift
the size of a house
wrapping paper as thick as corrugated cardboard
but not as plain
the most beautiful colors adorn these gifts
colors that have yet to be named
is it up to me to name them
or merely file away what others have done -

DanniSpectator….I can always try this thing.
On my knees I stand. Waiting for the end.
The echoes that will be, clinging on for eternity.
In my tree, a place for you and me. I found out what it’s all about.
And up here in my tree, there’s a place for you and me.
We could watch the world go ’round. Up and down, and ’round and ’round.
And up here in my tree, there’s no place for you nor me.
The echoes set us free, we’ll shiver in trinity. It’s from my In My Tree-thing.

one fits
my heart cries for you
more waiting pains me
your love your smile
it’s not enough
i need you
to feel you
to hold you
If only I could
I want you
If I only…
your love beats my heart
distance between us
it’s torture
if only
to be near you
if only
to please you
I need your embrace
even before yesterday, now, tomorrow,
always
I love you

manillascissorKeymastertwo puzzles, too many
pieces scattered about
placed upon the table
there was never any doubtsomehow pieced together
making a beautiful portrait
a picture so real
as if complete and perfectbut over time, the picture changed
pieces hit the floor
pieces left, pieces faded
peace is no morethe puzzle must be taken apart
and started again from scratch
you build yours and i’ll build mine
on the same table we’ll dancenow it’s done and we can see
pictures of two different harmoniesonly now there are more pieces
ones that will never fit
ones that we created
in our adjoining midstand so it goes
up and down
the jigsaw seesaw

you still keep playing
why?

Stop testing my love

cobwebs on the farthest corners

around pretty things
ghosts of memories
liquid floral displays
silver candy cactus
to prick the skin
bring blood stains
unlovely smears
reflection in mirrors of sugar
lick my own frown
taste the sweet shame

shatter the memory
send it into oblivion

In someone else’s arms.
Unknowing as he slept,
I wept at memories of us.
Memories that grow dark
With the shadows of time.
Memories that have reached their end.
Tossing and turning,
Glimpses of us ever present.
I dreamt of you,
Just as always.
You feel so cold to me now,
Moved out and moved on so quickly.
Daily I work
At killing the disease in my heart.

when we were younger
time is never enough
to keep us togetherwe were so special
back with wagons and legos
the fresh cut grass
the endless egosbut now we are taller
and the grass is heavy
and it’s raining outside
and in different housessomehow we still are
we still see each other
across the street
and want to playthe games have changed
and we have children of our own
but we still know how to laugh
and giggle and smileand we are forever young
in this twister of fate
bringing forth dark clouds
and spring rainsnew and belonging
forever understanding
trying our best to learn
the meaning of each otherlet’s go play

Pecking, jeering, how absurd
Pain inflicted, lack of respect
With short-sighted sheep, what can we expect?Misunderstanding, ignorance too
The man once told him there’s others like you…In the town, hand-fed bread
He contemplated what the man had said
Those grey ones there in a big bold group
Should they turn round, there’d be a coup
For Purple Pigeons stand right out
But there’s others like him, he found outTen years passed and grey birds died
And still the purple vertebrate cried
Looking round and seeing sadness
In a weak wicked way, it brought some gladnessFor purple is purple and grey is grey
Those facts alone needn’t be the way
He sat with pride and a little smile
There’s Purple Pigeons, all the while -

we would count junebugs together
as they buzzed in and around your weeping arms
and the spiders came crawling to the groundthen one day you nudged me along
gave me a branch to help sing your song
to remind me of strength and shelter
a piece of you, always and foreveri used to send you into the water
and watch as you floated away
but you came back each and every time
what a way to pass the daybut ever since that day you died for me
i’ve tried to return the favor, embarrassingly
i set you on fire, to hide the pain
and walked away, your bones fully ablazei picked you up one last time
your rings, an echo of mine
ashes fell as i wrote your name

just one more time
so i went to the kitchen
and grabbed a knifei started carving
and cutting your face
out of a pumpkin
the resemblance was faintbut cut and poke i did
for many hours
until that pumpkin face
looked like yoursand in the end
it looked quite macabre
so i stuck it outside
with a candle flame onyour face it danced
upon my front porch
scaring little children
as they begged for moresoon the night was over
and you were still there
laughing and smiling
in this world, not a carei soon became jealous
of your effortless soul
i took you inside
and stared through your holeno more i cannot take it
you ruined me again
now go and leave me

and smashed you to pieces

manillascissorKeymasterso exciting was the day
you came to me carrying a box
i opened hurriedly
to find a piece of paper
a perfect white square
crisp and clean
could cut to the bone
if i wasn’t careful
i pressed it against my face
a blank slate
the smell of faxes and drying ink
i could do so much
with just this little piece of paper
so i wrote all my hope and dreams on it
and gave it back to you
not one empty space
and now, one year later
you give me another box
again i open so fast
only to see that piece of paper
all crumbled and tattered and stained
i look up to see what happened
and you were just saying goodbye
leaving me alone with my desires
alone with my faults
staring at my handwriting -

manillascissorKeymastermarch! you dare i say
one two three four
endless steps in time
feet hitting the floorthis pace keenly kept
like it or not, keep your stride
together we’ll go on
quarter notes that tear away timebut alone she sidestepped
and fell out of bounds
and lost the beat forever
now nothing surroundsand just ahead, a bridge
as troops stomp on by
it will never hold the weight
still they push, as if to dietears flow down her twisted face
as the floorboards give way
down they fall to the river below
like tears she cried that day -

manillascissorKeymasterhead in my hands
it’s hard to write
traveled lands
we’re in for a night
drink it up
and start a fight
suck it up
a cry for my plight
down on yourself
come here go away
moons assemble
that’s totally insane
never together forever
twice removed spitfire
wonderment never again
purple on black
the blood moves within
bruised but not born
a woman unscorned
let the leash break
again to hide the bone
beneath the dirt
is where i’ll be
chipping away
come find me -

manillascissorKeymastersuch a big block with a dull finish
setting up high on my work table
inhaling through the nose to stay warm
i get out my chisel and start to chip away
forming the smile i remember
i begin to break her down
the perfect corners
the perfect radiance
it’s only by see through water
and that smile only lasts for so long
because it’s getting warmer
and her eye sheds a single tear
that drops to the snow covered ground
liquid sadness from an icy beauty
alone in silence she melted away -

manillascissorKeymasterdisconnected, i am not really here
my soul is nowhere to be found
completely bursting with emptiness
sitting on the doorstep of a raw eratired, fed up with you
you do not begin to understand
the depth of my shallowness
the sheer pressure with which i crushfragile, this will only last for so long
and then reality will set in
a sincere pretentiousness on display
front window fifty percent offalone, come over here with me
come walk with me down this gravel road
an endless path that never begins
it’s all downhill from here on outhold my fucking hand
and put on your boots
i dare you to walk with me -

manillascissorKeymasterit feels so unreal
the people that are around
spirits floating in and out of my day
mostly muted and on repeat
but everpresent they are
and oh so many opinions
never anything worth digestion
where did the real go
what has ever been
can always be no more
lest we forget
but i choose to ignore -

marigoldSpectatorhehe, I’m joining in.
Time
The pastel hued muses
Undress their heads
With the thoughts of humankind
Resting in the stillness of timeDoubts form in the waves
Crashing on the shores
Of unconsciousness
At the meridian of timeMemories trapped in an old book
Photos faded black and white
Dust fallen on old relics
Lost in the distance of timeMelting down creation
Arts of intrigue
Mixed up methods of minds
Thwarted by the threads of time -

marigoldSpectatoryou could try reading some of Mina Loy’s poetry also:
http://www.cwru.edu/artsci/engl/VSALM/m … oyslb.htmlAnother one from me….
Beyond laws and images of man
Concepts of time and despair
Fires burning in the suburban sprawl
There is a thickness in the airI want to reach forth
Into the bloodbath of the future
Soothe the wounds of hate
Heed the warnings of our cultureJoin forces into the underground
Increasing and eliminating by turn
Devoid of the facts
The truth we all can learnSigns pointing to the distance
Invisible to those still asleep
Awareness awakening those who dare
To dream of secrets we can’t keepSecrets given to those who are willing
To leave this world of taking
And take part in leaving
Our sorrows behind in the makingWhat are we fighting for
What makes us alive
What brings our minds alight
And keeps our souls awakeA sorrow, a song, a sigh
Fleeting feeling of freedom
Thought taste touched tomorrow
Reasoning right from wrongResolutely designed for ourselves
Culminating in initiation
Into the spheres of the mind
Bubbles blown to the windInvisible walls of the kingdom
Resting on our laurels
Will not change anything
In apathy we lose ourselvesCreative sparks need to fly!
Fire up their passion inside
Search the tree of knowledge
Sending messages to the stars -

manillascissorKeymasterhere’s a gift i made
over the past few years
an underneath-the-bed box
full of nothing but tearsi used to own these
but now i give them to you
i used to guard these
but now i’m brand newnow these teardrops
are a dime for a dozen
and maybe if you’re lucky
i’ll give you a baker’s dozen -

manillascissorKeymasterit’s all slipping away now
the life that i had planned
with each and everyday
i lose more and more handand amidst all the chaos
there is a constant beating
an echo bouncing back
of a past chance meetingthat sprung forth beauty
and short lived chemistry
but left behind something
that is more a mysteryhow on earth can it be
a love gone so wrong
to leave such tarnish
up against the strongso go it alone i must
for now it’s sink or swim
my past was much brighter
the future is looking dim -

through the broken boards
i used to be there to catch you
but destiny says no morethe cuts you made are so deep
i often wonder if they’ll heal
going this alone for our sake
whatever shall be revealedsoon this hold will take me
and it’s what we both wanted
no more heart or moon aches
none of your memories to haunt me -

marigoldSpectatorI don’t want to be your queen
I don’t want what you need
In your eyes I see your soul
There’s nothing thereDon’t you want to be freed
Don’t you want to succeed
In your dreams you see the world
Is against youWhy do you do this, it breaks my heart
To see you in pain, when will you realise
There’s nothing to gain
And you’ll never be the same
You will always be with the enemyI don’t want to be like you
I don’t want to do the things you do
In your eyes I see sorrow
Its what you wantedDon’t you want to be free
Don’t you want to be real
In your dreams you are beyond
Anything trueWhy do you do this, it makes me sick
To see you so hurt, when will you realise
It can’t go on and it stays the same
In your mind it never ends -

AnonymousSpectatorI came in
not knowing why
just to know more
now, I feel I am in too deep
I never expected that
I was just being
secrets I do not know
still unaware
I’m in the dark
it all appears like a game
being played so well by the unknown to me
hidden behind this and that
I have nothing to hide from
I am only me
just sharing a few words
led to more things I can’t explain
nice gets you nowhere, but taken for granted, I see
so why do people want to take advantage of me? -

from high above he floats
the sun beating against your neck
like warmth against your wingsthe newness of now
like never before
and never again

marigoldSpectator^^ that’s good to hear
I like that poem, and the box of tears one.
………………………..
Scented leaves dance on the wind
Dancing to the tune of the seasons
My heart rests in timeless magnitude
Rising to the challenge of this artThe stars sparkling in the heavens
The sun and moon in endless circles
The hearts of humankind wavering
In their hurricanes of desperationSucked into the black holes of the media mass
Told to buy this then you’ll get some a…
Then when you have it you’ll want more
An endless search for desires never metSearching for peace and quiet
The answers come to those who wait
Searching for that eternal peace
What was once lost will be found -

AnonymousSpectatorTwo continue to play
games of the heart
back and forth
your words are tossed like playing catch
time in between phrases
a muse for both?
discouraging, yet encouraging
thoughtless thoughts
words are your power
knowing how to consume them
sucked into your black hole
of nothing more than
imaginary care and heartfelt
with no meaning behind them
no feeling
for they are…
just letters
conformed into
empty words -

marigoldSpectatorThe Garden
Alone and still, a starlit sky
sprinkled with feathered milk
the silence is huge
I wait for the brillianceOnce the moon appears, awake!
the garden is again enchanted
illumination beyond the shade
I wrap this moment in foilThe vastness of the black open sky
beckons me to fly up there
but I’ll stay with my garden
in radiance and denialUntil the time is right
forging new beginnings
suspended animation
waiting for a sign -

rolling through the center
the eclipse of white by blackonly one remains upright
and you get a second throw
so hit me with all your might

marigoldSpectatorCareless creatures casting their lines
Hooking up their profits
Greedy smiles on their faces
Not knowing they will fail one day
The wall comes crashing down
When they least expect it
Keep buffering it up with some mud and straw
It’ll hold til the next puff of wind
A trickle of oily rain
No chance the wall will hold up
Coming down fast like a ton of bricks
Time to build a new one
Something built to be made anew each time
One that doesn’t need to hold up
A roof over a shattered society
The cause and effect of it all
Wheel of time and cycle of seasons
Brush the cobwebs from the ruins
This wall stands the test of time -

What goes around, comes around
You’ll get your just desserts
Hanging on the edge of your seat
Waiting for your turn
Carousel spinning out of control
The musicians play on
Tinker tailor soldier sailor
Heart breaker, movie-maker
Selling your soul for the silver screen
Up on the billboard for all to see
Your time has come
Don’t be a fool
Fall into the trap
Mess up your life
‘til darkness is all you can see
And it swallows you whole -
