ArthurSpectatorI’m really pumped about the stuff in the archives![/quote:10brgygw]
Same here, I’m totally with you… And the fun thing is: the early stuffs of 1987 – 1994 is going to be released this year already!1 thing I noticed, but don’t understand. The Aeroplane Flies High is considered an album? Technically it is a set of EPs thrown in a box… But OK, fair enough, the total amount of songs makes up to a double album. And I don’t hear anything (yet) about Lull, but I’m really hoping we will see at least Slunk (or even better, it’s alternate take Chump, with Jimmy on the vox!
) and Bye June on the list of Billy?
ArthurSpectatorHi Derek, please forward to Bram and Sven at least, if you like. Of course we will not rewrite the conclusions of Pette Discographies, but we might want to include a footnote, or something.
ArthurSpectatorOur newest team member Debby wrote a news item about this, I put some pics to it, and the frontpage is updated. Thanks Debby!

would love to know more about this tape…
hmmm, seems correct about the inclusion on PI possibly…
still.. the band has lost the master tapes…[/quote:2ngqxt5i]
It’s an old download of mp3 files that I still had in my backlog since 2009, including these 2 blurry pics of DAT TAPE #1 and DAT TAPE #2. The txt file says :"Thanks to bmaromar for the tapes
-rhinowing"so I presumed it are 2 different tapes. If you want I can provide you the 19 mp3 files for an inquiry?
ArthurSpectatorhttp://www.spfreaks.com/?page=COLLDETAILS&item=3402
this might have been earlier…
as this is sequenced totally different… as per a one album release…[/quote:1rup85ik]
It says duplicated 8/4/95 on the j-card, but the 8 is very blur indeed. On the cassette itself it says 7/25/1995, so I presume that is the right date for the mixes/intended tracklisting. The Billy test pressing acetate cds are dated end of August 1995, so this cassette is VERY early already. No?
ArthurSpectatorDo we know of any additional tracks that were recorded at that time that haven’t been released on the albums or singles as b-sides?[/quote:84222s2a]
Autumn, Drain, Laugh, Here I Am, Lover, Death Boogie… Probably much more that we don’t know about.Info from SPFC.org:
"Machina was haphazardly recorded at Pumpkinland over a span of ten months. Many alternate versions exist of the songs, as the band consistently toyed with their arrangement. The songs on the final album often consisted of combinations of a few different arrangements of each song. In other words, the Machina tracks continually evolved throughout the year, and the tape was rolling during their transformation. Radio was an early incarnation of I of the Mourning, just as Slow Song was of Crying Tree of Mercury and Disco King was of The Everlasting Gaze. The second movement of Glass and the Ghost Children is actually a bit of the six-minute Le Deux Machina (which multiple versions exist of). Go is apparently a James song that was left off the album.
A tape called "the Friends and Enemies of Modern Music" has surfaced, most likely compiled early on during the sessions. The tape included early mixes and recordings of several Machina tracks (most with live-band arrangements) as well as soundboard recordings of Money (That’s What I Want) and XYU from the 10/31/98 show. The tape also included an alternate Heavy Metal Machine with both different lyrics and a different main riff, and an arrangement of Blue Skies Bring Tears much like The Arising! version."
ArthurSpectatorMachina II ‘ early Pumpkins practises from 1987? Interesting.[/quote:2gjmzp5d]
Yeah… What I heard is they will put Machina and Machina II together as 1 release in 2013… remixed, remastered & tracks put in the right order? Sounds cool. And what highly interests me also is the anecdote in the video that Smashing Pumpkins might be releasing the live material, like the "final" show… I think I’m getting a little pumped now about this news. Thanks, Billy.
ArthurSpectatorI REALLY sincerely hope that there is a recorded studio version of "Razor" somewhere in the archive, at least. That would be a smasher.[/quote:1l7o11wg]
Yup.Would love to hear a studio version of it as well.
Its a great tune!![/quote:1l7o11wg]
Second that big times!
ArthurSpectatorI’m sure this is going to be something nice. But I’m hoping (& not really expecting) that with the remastered release of Mellon Collie, it comes with a few extra discs with the full versions of the Pastichio Medley clips. Me Rock You Snow!
By the way, Glynis was already released on a compilation album called \"No Alternative\". Of course it should be included on any future b-sides release, but it’s not going to make my heart jump. What will make my heart jump however, is releasing old-and-never-surfaced songs like Hippy Trippy (presuming it’s not a working title for a song we already know).
ArthurSpectatorwhere should i look?[/quote:1yvvgl72]
Maybe on the ring of the CD? Hardly visible probably…

ArthurSpectatorThat’s funny he said that… As he already recorded AND released Gossamer in a live version on If All Goes Wrong DVD. And the studio version has been recorded already long time ago, in several different takes/styles/lengths. Billy and Jimmy wanted to release that as a 4 track Gossamer double disc, so they could make a profit on selling this shirt:

ArthurSpectatoror Tuesday is just a magic day!
[/quote:r69vljuq]
I doubt that. 9-11 happened on a Tuesday. Hitler was born on a Tuesday. The last dinosaur died on a Tuesday. My bad hairdays are always on Tuesdays (or was it bald hairdays? Whatever…). WWI started on a Tuesday. On Tuesday, October 29th, 1929 the Dow dropped 12% following a previous dayâs drop of 13%. This day is now known as Black Tuesday. Last year my birthday was on a Tuesday, and it passed without any celebration of any kind. Machina, The Machines Of God, arguably the worst Smashing Pumpkins album (and the last official album before the break-up), was released on 2000/02/29, which was a… Tuesday, yes sir! So, it’s a bad bad day anyway, this "magic" Tuesday.
ArthurSpectatorI promise the announcement when it comes will not disappoint. Involves SP music from 1986 to the present…as big as it gets for us.[/quote:3tlwr4xa]
I just read this on the Smashing Pumpkins forum, it made me rofl!… when "they" "reunited" without all the members, you’ll recall they had to blur the lines of history relating to what technically defined "sp inc". They revised it to only include billy. So now sp dates to anything billy has recorded after leaving the marked in florida.[/quote:3tlwr4xa]
ArthurSpectatorWhy would the announcement of a new release be on a Tuesday also?
ArthurSpectatorHey blue, all well?

ArthurSpectator@mirrorboxer:
you’re awesome, but I think you were first…
LOL, this is derailing big time. Sorry everybody!
I just uploaded pics of the Canadian EP, made by Cool As Ice Cream. Check out the Virgin Canada logo on the CD.
ArthurSpectatorhttp://www.spfreaks.com/?page=COLLDETAILS&item=3389 (Canadian Still Becoming Apart EP)
Bram, if you ever have the time, can you check if the CD contains a release code? Maybe it looks like the matrix code 72 4384902124D2?
ArthurSpectatoryeah, if you check your copies, arthur, you may find you actually own it as well. it’s only denoted by looking for the CA Virgin logo on the CD itself (if i remember correctly, anyway).[/quote:2k33fjzg]
I checked and I found out it is really the US and the EU/UK (HUT logo) copies that I own. So I still need the Canadian copy… Let’s see what our old-time friend toad32r (long time no hear, mate! All well? How are you doing?) has to offer.
ArthurSpectatorNow I really wonder who was first… I send him a PM also, but only for the Canadian version. I’m not sure if he owns an extra copy of the Canadian EP? We’ll see… If it is the US version, it’s automatically yours, mirrorboxer, presuming the price is OK.
