This was filmed by the partner of the woman who had her vinyl signed by Billy at the end of the show…

    The start of the show:

More videos on his channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/nzrockgigs

Pretty impressive show – the fact that Billy has got some talented and hard-working musicians shows – and certainly Mike has improved since 2010! Nicole’s vocals were not as loud as I had heard in previous shows, but I later saw her tweet about having a sore throat – no wonder! It was an awesome setlist – X.Y.U, Luna, and Ava Adore were highlights for me. And of course hearing all of Oceania live! The crowd (at the front at least) went crazy for a good number of the Oceania songs – in particular Glissandra 8)

well, there appeared a JP deluxe box for pisces on eBay for a sizeable amount of money, but i splurged and bought it. it comes with what the seller calls an "obi sticker". makes no sense, a sticker is a sticker, not an obi. but it’s pressed in japan with the TOCP code. cool! same seller is offering the standard JP release as well, so count that too![/quote:2ms2ifqx]

    Obi-sticker:

This is still just a sticker with Japanese script on it, and the description doesn’t say anything about it, but perhaps they mean that it has the info that an obi strip would normally have?

    * (from wikipedia) "The term is also used for a strip that is looped over one side (usually on the left) or folded over the top of LP albums released in Japan, and folded over the left side of music CDs, video games, Laserdiscs, or DVDs. This is also called tasuki. Obi are unique to Japan** and are used to provide the title of the product, track listings (if applicable), price, catalog number and information on related releases in Japanese. It is used by the consumer to determine what is included in the album or book, and the store can use the information for ordering. Obi are sometimes used on boxes for collectible toys and figures. Products with an obi have become popular with some collectors, as products with the obi intact can fetch premium prices, and are collectible items in their own right. A record or CD with an intact obi is worth more than the same item without."

** not true, I think.

Really nice article about obi strips here:

Of course Japan has the coolest stuff.
Is there enough info around for an article on obi’s found on the SP releases in Japan?

This will be the second band I see this year who play their full album in the set – it’s pretty cool that they do that – gets all the old school fans hearing it then they get to hear their old favourites – which some of us would rather not hear every show. BUT I am still looking forward to seeing the album played live :D

It’s a foldout poster from a magazine. I thought it was funny. :)[/quote:3w0324w8]

which year is the magazine? The band picture is a few years older than the movie (2001) so I assume it is just a random picture they used – was there a story about SP in the magazine also?

Machina – there’s more passion, more variety in song styles and themes. Also I like all the artwork and stories around Machina – it had so much more ‘extras’ than Oceania has. 8)

I was wondering what the different releases of the Pisces Iscariot reissue were.

I’ve already found that there’s a EU release of the standard cd, the deluxe edition box set, and of the vinyl record too.

    [/quote:xl3ftre7]

EU vinyl is here too. No box sets to be found in store though, only online :?

wow, don’t like the music style really, but I like the strong messages in his videos. Checked out a couple of others of his, he seems to be trying to get the human and environmental rights message out there. Cool.

yeah, whoever runs the radio station’s twitter is checking with the boss about playing a track from Oceania now. But how do they choose which songs they \"allow\" to be played?

again, back to pop. one pop song at a time, upbeat, fun, happy, no real concept. not everything has to be the first of its kind or pushing boundaries. it’s like if einstein found the formula e=mc2, but then tried to fuck with it every 5 years or so, just to say he’s doing something different. oooo, e=mcII, how clever and brilliant![/quote:20s1do8i]

    lol
I don’t think Billy wants to be in that ‘pop’ world though, he wants to be pushing boundaries. In fact, a lot of artists are doing just that and selling tonnes of records. It may be just down to marketing and the record company.

….and I just turned on the radio to see what bands were being played, expecting Pearl Jam and Metallica….and Bullet With Butterfly Wings is on  8)

Didn’t Billy dismantle the band 12 years ago? ;)

I like a lot of the songs on Oceania, but I think he should have written songs about Oceania, Panopticon, and The Chimera for real, instead of just using them as song titles. Musically the album has a lot of cool experimental sounds, but a lot of the lyrics are rather ‘safe’ – Quasar is an exception with all the deities thrown in together – I guess he didn’t want the album compared to Zeitgeist at all – maybe there will be something more ‘out there’ with the next album/teargarden journey…..
