Totally agree!!!….the shirts and other designs are horrid. Bad design, craftsmanship, style, everything.
If Billy had taken a sharpie and drawn a black dot it would have been better. Seriously, any of the top ten designs in the contest would have been better….ANY. I’m disappointed and saddened, that the design is so bad.

WOWOWOW – Thank you for posting everything in one place :) The new songs like Owata and Song for a son blow away the simplicity of G.L.O.W. which I found a bit… unfinished. I think that a breath of life has flowed into Billy once again, especially witnessing his virtuoso guitar playing stage antics….you can’t do that stuff if your depressed…..!

    (my opinion obvs)

This is my ‘in a nutshell’ theory.

I think that the demise of the band stemmed from D’arcy being fired because of her drug dependancy, which led to James not wanting to be involved(since his true love was no longer there).

Billy probably looked at this as the band falling apart and coming to an end and called it a day.

    Obviously speculation.[/quote:1y1ie0h0]

Too true for words. I think you hit the nail on the head. You know that James said he still loved D’arcy even in a 2000 show – and he said it onstage. So when she left, I’m sure it was like – what the hell am I doing in a band that is not my musical taste, and none of us are getting along…and this is not my vision…and of course my true love left and is falling into a pit of despair? Yes – speculation indeed. However, if you closely read all the interviews and everything said about the breakup, this is pretty much what can be inferred.

    Good post man!

I’m actually pretty happy to have been #3. Kuumar and I did the whole thing in a week and I’m pretty sure we would have won had I started carving earlier (d’oh!) but then again – who the hell knows? I agree with Reggae: Della, great job, but let it go. Who the hell cares what people think? You can wave to those people from your seats at the show!! Sp.freaks will no doubt learn from this mess (fingers crossed) the next time they announce an art contest.

As for the \"some of us were babies when Gish came out\" comment, I’d like to offer the fact that I was 12 but still saved up enough babysitting money to buy the tape….babies can have good taste. Kuumar is only 20, and he’s the most hardcore fan I’ve known and at this date and time has learned 25 covers…..not a small feat if you’ve only learned the guitar two years ago. Time and dates have no consequence when you’re a true fan. So don’t apologize anymore and don’t give excuses. No matter who would have won, the backlash might have been the same.

I’m still pretty happy that no one else thought of carving their entire design@@@ Yo!!! :)

IF NOTHING ELSE, THE ONE THING KUUMAR AND I ARE PISSED ABOUT IS THE FACT THAT WE DON’T KNOW IF BILLY REALLY GOT TO PICK THE WINNER……WTF?!?!? WHOEVER SAID THAT BILLY WAS GOING TO ANNOUNCE THE WINNER, SERIOUSLY, WHAT HAPPENED THERE????

What does everybody think about the official "Limited Edition" 20th anniversary poster?[/quote:1w12chy1]
The whole top 10 of the contest was doing a better job, each individual one of them, if you ask me.[/quote:1w12chy1]

Glad I’m not the only one who thought that. No offense to the artist.
I’d gladly give SP the rights to my design ;)[/quote:1w12chy1]

OMG. Is that poster someone’s idea of a joke? A halloween joke maybe? Or maybe someone just got really bored in their cubicle with their purple markers and the xerox machine. It says it’s a print….but someone’s giving printmaking a bad name 4 sho!

    Natascha! Great reference to Melencolia
the woodcut by Albrecht Durer in your poster! I love his work…and well…obvs I love prints in general…:)

I think, honestly, everyone was beyond burnt out. Touring as much as they did, Billy was the only one with the drive to continue….and clearly even he had issues and doubts about what to do next.. James has always been open about his different musical tastes (country, etc etc) and if you read his interviews carefully as well as the video from the time, I think he was tired of Billy’s \"machine\" and the extreme touring. He hated the spotlight. It was clear on the Storytellers performance when Billy asked if James had any stories to tell, James said \"no, I just wanna rock.\" I think James was just tired of it all. And D’arcy, if you delve into her background, was afflicted with some serious depression/drugs issues. Jimmy was clean at that time and maybe had the most energy…What I really want to know is what happened with Paz Lenchantin and Billy Corgan? They were an item…he stole her away from A Perfect Circle….hehe….I know that’s not NEARLY as important as the other matter…but I’m just curious… I remember reading that, when asked about the disappearance of the APC bassist, he says she ran off with a bald-headed smashing pumpkin and Paz was suffering from meat deprivation as she is a vegan. Hehehe
    So someone please school me.
    Thanks!!!

I agree with you as usual Kuumar. However I just hope he is in a really amazing mood that day….just for us and everyone else’s sake. That day I hope his cat is in good health and pawing at Billy’s bright metallic scale skirt. Billy, we love u and everything you stand for….and don’t stand for. :)

James said in an article I read – I know I should list exactly which one, but it’s easy to find if you do a James Iha search….James said \" the only one who could break up the band, was Billy\". However, as much as we love to speculate, there’s no way of knowing unless someone comes forward with some insider info.

My favs, after my own of course (hehe :P), are:
    1. Cherub babies
    2. Tree
    3. Green Heart with the Cherub
    4. Painted aeroplane VIP backstage pass

I would put the tree first however, it is a teensy too…bright? sterile? Not sure the word. It’s amazing…just not sure if it contains enough grit for the pumpkins.

Some are good, some are really good. I’m more than excited that mine and Kuumar’s was the only poster entirely carved out of linoleum and printed.
