Text of the colored vinyl slightly adjusted. :)

\"a 3rd pressing on orange vinyl and, much later, a 4th pressing on black vinyl. The black vinyl is presented in a separate upload on SPfreaks.\"

I’m quite sure most readers and members here will hold on to their (only) copy. I don’t even have it myself (I bought the reissue vinyl though, when it was extremely cheap on Amazon Canada), so I have nothing to offer, I’m afraid.

I hope you are lucky though with one of the people here. Because the sleeve of the copy on eBay for 200 bucks is damaged in one corner. But if you don’t care about that, I wouldn’t wait too long. That price is still a little high in my humble opinion, but considered kinda OK in general, I guess.

I said that because I checked the liner notes on my Q101 copy.

\"Q101 Machina II bootleg. The Smashing Pumpkins gave Q101 one of only 25 acetate albums pressed with this music. We’ve mastered the songs for CD, and reproduced the packaging. This CD is a hand-numbered limited edition created for you, the Smashing Pumpkins fan. The Smashing Pumpkins wanted to give the world hassle-free access to their final album. It’s not for purchase or resale. Keep the spirit. When you’re finished, pass it on.\"

With the recent post on Twitter and Facebook of a pic with several Machina II cds, I felt the need to join the discussion about it. This is what I emailed a few minutes ago, I guess it’s worthwhile keeping here also.

\"I think with Machina II we have to think outside the box a little.

Billy sure would have remembered sending a studio master to Virgin. But he doesn’t. So I think it didn’t happen. Making it likely that Virgin used a vinyl rip. Not Q101, not Eric Agnew.

To me, Q101 is a ‘friend’ of Billy, they received a vinyl copy ‘to spread this shit for free’. And hell they did, they made a beautiful release in the spirit of the vinyl. And spread it for free to 2,000 fans that won some radio contest. It must have cost them 1,000s and 1,000s of dollars! So I would consider it as an official release. It was a release asked for by Billy Corgan. But it is grey area, since it is not Constantinople Records, nor Virgin or sub-label. But Virgin never seriously considered a release, except that we know of 3 promos; 2 inhouse promo sets (US and UK) and a promo send to media partners outside of Virgin in Germany CLEARLY approved by Billy Corgan.

I consider a bootleg as a commercial non-label release that never got the credit from band/management. Q101 is not on that level I’m sure. It’s funny that they call it a bootleg anyway in the liner notes. My 2 cents on this.\"

:::: YES. BUT FOR A MP3 I DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO. SOMEBODY WOULD HELP ME ? ::::[/quote:3kdyjgty]
I use dBpoweramp to do that. If you have that installed, you can Right-Click on the cd player of your PC/laptop and choose "Rip with dBpoweramp". In the next screen you can choose Rip to Flac/MP3, the folder where you want the files to be dropped, etc.

If I’m right, it is also possible to rip CDs to MP3 files with the Windows Media Player, but I don’t know how that works.

Does that mean you own a copy too? Bring in the rip! Bring in the rip! Please!?

Yeah, I might try that, because I want to know what live version of I Am One it is also… And there are many other good bands on it too! However, the thread is knotted in a certain way, it has made a mark in the cardboard, the cardboard is folded around the jewelcase and booklet several times in a certain way, and I might have hard times to bring it back to its original state. :?

Yes, the seller said it was never opened, so I guess it’s in mint condition, like the picture. I’ll check where it comes from after I receive it. If it is a bootleg (is it? how do you know?), and from Italy, I will correct that later. Thanks for the heads up, alladnzane![/quote:2zpvxw4j]

I ended up buying two MCIS deluxe vinyl boxes on Amazon Canada for a little below 35 Euro each, incl. shipment. In The Netherlands this vinyl box is 150 Euro or more!

There are still a few available, for who is interested:

From my top 10 list I found \"Grunge (recorded live in the 90’s)\". Super cute compilation CD with \"I Am One (live)\"! This pic is from SPfreaks, but the seller told me it is in the same ‘like new’ condition. 8)

Lucky bastard! I missed out on a copy of this a few months back because i was new to ebay and didnt understand this automatic bidding stupidness….. I need this so bad! If you ever see one let me know! :D[/quote:14do8kax]
Did you set up automated Search already on eBay? I have several, and that is quite helpful. This one didn’t pop up in my Search yet, as it was immediately send to me by email by a friend. At first it was set up as a US only sale, but the seller was willing to ship to Europe, as it turned out. So yeah, I guess I was lucky… Never seen an unnumbered copy too! :D

    Nice find. :)

I finally found a Q101 Machina II release. Unnumbered. The seller said he got it straight from a friend who worked at Q101 back then, but outside the radio contest. I believed him, because the pics looked genuine.

The SP shopping spree of last week in a nutshell: several radio promo cds, one of them containing \"Destination Unknown\". A promo compilation cd in a dvd case containing \"Freak\". And a Zeitgeist cd album pressed in Chile.

Not SP related, but I just have to mention it… Last week I was also very glad to have been in time to buy an extremely limited DVD release (50 only!) of one of my favorite bands, Magdalena Solis. It contains all their video work for the Hesperia album. NSFW, and not for the weak of heart too. For who’s interested: Jinxed, from the Lady Of The Wild Things EP, bonustrack of this DVD. As said, very NSFW.

Maybe this was taken in refference to the 12" promo prior to actual album promos were given out?[/quote:hsse4dbr]
Could be… However, this radio promo cd is dated June 13, 1997, and The End… was already out on cd single on June 2nd, 1997. In the same timeframe (May, June, July 1997) the track appeared on (promo-only) vinyl. And it appears to me that it is the same track, both on cd and on vinyl, all with the length of 5:08. Not 5:02, like on this radio promo cd… Interesting, but most probably it means nothing. :P

Just had a look at my various formats of this, and they all seem to have a running time of 5.08/5.09/5.10.

What the running time of your promo?[/quote:1kxr9fkc]
5:02, see pic below. I still have to receive it, so I can’t tell much yet. Only that I noticed a lot of "jargon" on the tracklist lol!

I know LP as long player too, and in NL (maybe in Belgium too?) it is called ‘elpee’. But all these terms, at least in NL, refer to an album release on vinyl only. Normally the labels or whoever is in charge call it ‘album version’ vs ‘single version’ or ‘extended version’, whatever is appropriate. So to me this sounds like there was a special version on vinyl of this song. But no, I guess not!

Last post about this. During the listening session Friday night I made a few pics, and this blurry one of the colored Siamese Dream being played, which I send to a few friends, ended up on SPfreaks Twitter and Facebook, I noticed.

Siamese Dream sounded stunning by the way. We played the record start to end, and I got goosebumps at almost every song! <= the guy that serviced this machine didn’t know Smashing Pumpkins at all, but he put Siamese Dream on his list of must-buy vinyl albums. He even took a picture of the sleeve! 8)
