Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorheh. it’s been too warm to hibernate.
pre-orders aren’t \"confirmed\" releases, in my opinion. remember the zeitgeist pre-orders? things turned out different too. the best example is the vinyl, of course, but i remember a german red zeitgeist was also \"confirmed\" at that time.
where did you see the german promo of american gothic? how does it look like? i assume you didn’t find it on amazon where people could pre-order it.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthis is what the official website says. it’s not identical.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorhas it been released already? i had no idea.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorHIYA!
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorit would change my mind if you said it was closer to 1 minute, 56 seconds rather than 2 minutes.
yay for my attention span!
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori think i’ll pass.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorMade/Printed in England doesn’t say too much actually. For example, check this 1994 remastered Gish, see the back artwork and compare that to the matrixcode if you like.
http://www.spfreaks.com/Default.aspx?pa … &item=1845
That’s why I want to do a thorough check, see?[/quote:1e3b4dbc]
ok, but what exactly is the "1-3-3-NL" referring to? the place where it was made or what (copy of the) master that was used?i know you’re only suggesting, but i think if they can make cds in the netherlands and then make them say "made in italy", they could as well use a dutch master to make cds in italy.
unfortunately i don’t know much about cd pressing, masters or matrix codes or numbers that are added (such as 1-1-3), so i wouldn’t know what to choose.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorwhat makes you decide that the nimbus cds are made exclusively in the US? (or isn’t that what you are saying?)
i have a lot of nimbus cds that literally say \"made in england\".
maybe nimbus cds can be made in the US and in the UK?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorso this one needs to be adjusted again, right: http://www.spfreaks.com/Default.aspx?pa … &item=2065
(country made/printed = US, instead of UK)
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorEvery different matrixcode is at least another pressing and worthwhile of uploading in a seperate entry.[/quote:5ppa2v8t]
In that case there’s even more to come from me.Where will I find the time and the courage?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorDifferences like "1:2" vs. "1:3" aren’t important; those are just used to identify which copy of the master the CD was pressed from.[/quote:lu77punl]
Yeah, I figured out that these aren’t important. I also noticed that on some spfreaks.com entries they are left out. Maybe this is because they’re not unique? Maybe we should leave this info out everywhere? Or put it in another (new) field (and split up the matrix codes in two or more fields)?Things like "1:1:3" or sometimes a second ifpi number look like they’re engraved in the cd, instead of being somehow "inside" the cd, underneath the plastic; like they were added afterwards. Maybe this is a good way to split up the matrix code? "Real" matrix code vs. code that was added later (engraved).
Just a suggestion…
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorah! highly interesting.
i have a couple of these: i encountered some \"identical\" singles with completely different matrix codes when comparing my US releases with the ones on spfreaks.com.
i didn’t know what to do with them at first, but i guess these all need new entries. right?example: http://www.spfreaks.com/Default.aspx?pa … S&item=267
i have both this one, as a copy with the matrix code \"CAROL 1465 (V) . MASTERED BY NIMBUS\" (which is obviously the original ’91 release, if i’m not mistaken not yet present on spfreaks.com.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorsome of my worst ebay experiences were:
– a fake drown promo (got a refund in the end, but still lost a lot of money and energy on it; i think i still got some scans i could upload to spfreaks.com)
– a broken live in chicago 23.10.95 promo cd (remember, arthur? – i never got a refund; the seller declared that it was not his fault that a cd merely packed in a simple envelope did not survive the trip; luckily i only paid about 20 euros for it)
– a live earth promo, clearly fake; worst quality ever (what a waste of empty cd-rs, stamps and energy; still haven’t received the refund i was promised… hmmm…)there’s more, but this is what i thought of first.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorwell, i don’t know.
who made that rule in the first place?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorisn’t try (v1) already a b-side of untitled???
AHA! disqualified!
(same goes for set the ray to jerry)
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI’m also going to Vorst Nationaal.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorWhat I meant is that Billy doesn’t make sense:
– First he claims that he hates the music industry.
– More recently, he states that he’s glad things are changing and that the typical record-release-and-promote-an-album routine is no longer the only way of releasing music.
– And then, the exclusive releases pop up. What does he mean, alternate ways of releasing music? What has changed then? That there are five Zeitgeists now, instead of one? Seems just the same to me. And isn’t he helping the music industry here? Playing along with their game? \"It just felt right\"?I also don’t really get it.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorWhy would they not release a physical release in the US?[/quote:27tul5jy]
They have a deal with iTunes to release it as an iTunes exclusive. This means only iTunes can release it in the US.I think that’s really stupid, but if you read that article, Billy says that "it just felt right"…
"I had written a bunch of material during the residencies in Asheville and San Francisco [earlier this year]," continues Billy, "and fans kept asking us if we were gonna put any of that stuff out. iTunes came to us wanting to do something together, so it just felt right."[/quote:27tul5jy]
Just like the exclusive Zeitgeist releases with bonus tracks: Billy doesn’t seem to think this is screwing over the fans who want all the extra songs, he thinks about it as if it’s a new and fresh thing to do in today’s music industry. (That’s what he says in one of those Zeitgeist interview videos. He’s talking about "what track will we give to what store") He’s completely lost it, if you ask me.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorOk, well, IF this is released in the US, I’d be happy to make good on my offer. Seems all somewhat speculative at this point.[/quote:21tatkbl]nah, it’s all on sp.com
http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/news_2846
just read the title and you know enough. there’s more info in the rest of the article though.
In the U.S., iTunes is the exclusive retailer; elsewhere in the world, American Gothic will be available as a physical product at retail.[/quote:21tatkbl]
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorit’s sad that your pink sub pop one is folded in two.
or in four even; i can’t really tell from the pictures.
coolest poster ever though.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorhmm… aren’t the actual cds going to be released outside of the US? i think you are the one who should be getting a copy from someone else.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoryoutube maybe? dunno. i don’t know anything about games.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatordid i look over it, or is spfreaks.com really missing the uk release of mcis on cd?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorRegarding the MCIS 3LP: I’m also leaning more towards believing that it is a bootleg.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori think the cd was made in holland.
since they photoshopped the UK into EU (underneath the barcode and on the cd), i’m sure it is not just intended for the dutch market.
in fact, i bought this one from an australian online store. (when i ordered it, it was unavailable for months, and only a couple of months ago, it came back in stock and my order was processed.) -
