Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorRegarding your question why they didn’t print in France more regularly: maybe they simply don’t need to? I can imagine printing in one country can be enough to cover all of Europe.
Or they just happen to have good deals with (or be the owner of?) pressing plants in other countries?
And you could also wonder why they stopped printing cds in Germany, after the very first release of Gish (CARCD16).For me it’s not a very interesting question. It’s just the way it is.
I noticed a lot of the Warner stuff is printed in Germany. As for Virgin/Hut, it usually says UK, Holland or Italy. Or, in the later days, simply EU (which isn’t very informative, heh).On a related note, check this one out: a commercial single that says \"Delabel\".

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorFound UK full album promotional CD w/i foldover paperslip (purple version, not red)!!!!!! Will provide photos as soon as item received.[/quote:1vqkrpa4]
Ooh, I’m really interested in how this looks like.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorheh, well said.
indeed, the french mellon collie doesn’t mention \"delabel\" at all.most mellon collies were made in italy, holland and the uk, though.
i haven’t come across many french copies.i even own a copy that was sealed and had a french sticker on it, but when i opened it, the cd said \"made in holland\". so even in france, at some time, they sold copies that were made elsewhere.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori can’t remember when i bought it, but i imagine i had no idea that they said \"france\" at that time and that i didn’t find out until later.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori have it. the cds say \"made in france\", but i think the inserts say \"printed in holland\".
this one is actually on the top of my to-scan-for-spfreaks list. it’s a funny coincidence that you make this thread right now.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI’d guess B-sdies for the NEXT single will be Zeitgeist (single) and Gossamer (Live).
They have already confirmed they want to release a version of Gossamer (has pointed out by Ghostchild) And the previous singles have included the additional songs that where from the different Zeitgeist (Album) version.
Thats my common sense guess, but whos to know really.
BTW what is the next single going to be?[/quote:10364grt]
zeitgeist was already released as a b-side of tarantula. i don’t think they will release it again on another single.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorpeople say i’m a funny guy.
i didn’t really like thepumpkins.net though. it was a nice site, but it had too many features, and that slowed everything down. and the conversations on the messageboard weren’t interesting to me.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthe jackals lick their balls.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthis was definitely a joke. you can see the band talking and laughing about it in those \"a day in the life\" videos.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthe postcard was also included in the \"regular\" (i.e. non-promo pack) release of this vinyl. i bought a sealed one, and when i opened it, it had the booklet and the postcard (and the vinyl, of course).

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorso where did the text between parantheses go? stuff like \"demo 92\" or \"live 88\"? i can’t find it.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectator(by the way, i thought it was gonna be like an .mpg or .wmv or whatever
)[/quote:2g6yknzg]yeah, i forgot to mention, this is in dvd format. directly ripped from the original dvd. higher quality than the .mpg versions out there. some people on netphoria were asking for this.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorAmazing also: Purr Snickety was digitally compared to the only known digital source from 2005/04/05. This online source is cut at 16,000 Hz, while, as stated above, the tape gives the listener 20,000+ Hz. We can call this Purr Snickety version the highest quality version around at this moment. At the same time we can say this proves the authenticity of the tape, as only a studio master could be used to create this tape.[/quote:81avpge3]
Are you sure this is the correct conclusion?I mean, if you would record the 16kHz track to cassette and then transfer it back to a digital file, will it still cut at 16k? Or does the cassette add some noise that possibly changes this property?
I personally don’t know, as I never tried it. But if you want to conclude that only a studio master can have been the source for this track on the cassette, you have to be sure it would have been impossible to create this tape with the iTunes file, or with a vinyl rip.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorno collection insurance here.
is it needed to insure it separately? aren’t a lot of things already covered by other possible insurances, such as one for fire or theft?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoryes, either use vlc, or burn this as a video dvd. your dvd burning software should have this option. it is important that the files under VIDEO_TS come under the directory VIDEO_TS on your video dvd.
since this is only 230MB, you can also burn this on a cd-r (but the same way you would burn it on a video dvd; with a VIDEO_TS folder) and make what i think is called a \"mini-dvd\". but i don’t know if many dvd players accept cd-rs that look like dvds. maybe you can test this on a cd-rw first?
(wiki link, read the part under cDVD: [url:26ge5ik4]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MiniDVD[/url:26ge5ik4])
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori haven’t heard back from the owner of the rspaa, but the problem with the filenames containing a ‘ seems to be solved. can you check if it works for you too?
([url:2f4xxgbh]http://www.rspaa.org/rspaa/Miscellaneous/Mashed%20Potatoes/[/url:2f4xxgbh])
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori am from another planet.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorok… after a long time with slow downloads, i now have most of ‘Mashed potatoes’ (thanks a lot arthur
) however, RSPAA didnt seem to have working links/proper downloads for: disc 2: ‘Let’s meet the band’, disc 4: ‘I’m Free (live 90)’, disc 4: ‘Where’s Vince(Outtake 93)’, Disc 4: ‘C’mon (live 90)’ and disc 5: ‘I’ll never change (live 90)’.[/quote:2qwb06ve]funny thing i notice: these are all the songs that have a ‘ in the file name. this cannot be a coincidence. i guess this is a configuration problem on the new server. i will contact the rspaa owner about this.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthis link works better for me: http://www.rspaa.org/rspaa/Miscellaneou … 0Potatoes/
(i don’t know what’s wrong with the other one, but it’s not working for me.)
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori don’t know. except for some 12\" white label promos, i haven’t seen anything that looks like a test pressing.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorwell duh…
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorShawn already answerred that he would love to help.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI will contact Shawn and Aaron. I don’t really know them, but I know where I can contact them. I will point them to this thread, so that they can join if they want to.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorIt was withdrawn from eBay as Billy Corgan bought it back from the seller if I’m right. He absolutely didn’t want any copy to be on the free market.[/quote:2gofmc4l]
As far as I know, this is not what happened.
Unless you have some sources I don’t know about?
This explanation could match up with some of the things I do know, so I’m really interested to hear more about it; although I heard another story that also makes sense.
Where did you hear this, about Billy Corgan stopping the auction?2007.10.01 at 7:00 pm in reply to: Siamese Dream colored vinyl; 3 pressings or more? You judge. #3767
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthis makes me think of yet another vinyl release. something i’ve been wondering about for years, and i think this thread finally showed me the light: the re-release of gish on caroline.
the early releases were CARLP16, deleted shortly after, and followed up by the uk HUTLP2 release. if we ignore the korean release, i think these were the only two releases available for the first years. then came the remastered version, HUTLPX2.
but more recently, i think at the end of the nineties, or even early 2000s, a new version was released, on caroline. the release code of this vinyl is CAROL 1705 (0 17046 17051 2). but next to the matrix code CAR-1705-A and CAR-1705-B, the vinyl also has the codes HUTLPX-2A-1 and HUTLPX2B-1 (like that, without the – between the X and the 2; at least, that’s how it is on my copy).
i never got this: why would they put a HUT matrix code on an american release on caroline?
but now i think i understand: they used the moulds that were used for the HUTLPX-2 release for this re-release. so they copied these codes as well.another \"anecdote\" about these gishes: apparently they stopped pressing the german CARLP16 for some reason, and started making the english HUTLP2. but some of the CARLP16 sleeves must have moved to england, where they reused them. i have a HUTLP2 copy that has a CARLP16 inner sleeve. the word \"caroline\" on the inner sleeve has been blacked out with a marker.
cool, huh?
