    falling away through dusty minds
    escaping out of the cave
    there is no revolution
    just curses and apathy
    what became of evolution
    a backward step through time

no one gives up for anything
and in the din of the crash
    they’ll see what happens here
    with their jigsaw memory
a universe trapped inside a tear
    everyone gives in to everything

oops. guess where I got inspiration from.

    1. Today/Rocket NZ cassette
    2. Siamese Dream NZ cassette
    3. Siva Australia single
    4. Machina II vinyl (doesn’t everybody?)
    5. MCIS vinyl

maybe look at different things to get inspiration. I know work can kinda kill it a bit.

    Treading on the light waves
    Turning into particles
    Floating out in space
    Gravity not holding back
    The demons don’t possess
    And the night unfolds
    into dreams that are endless

Waking up to see the dawn
    This sight at the edge
    We never tire of this
    A quantum adventure
    Into the future as shown
    Bending the rules of time
    as we chase the unknown

    I really like this bit.
    Find a publisher, dammit. :P

I’m keeping some poems aside for a book, that "may" be published in 2012, in collaboration with someone from the oboard.
Also working on a story for an art project with a couple of other SP fans. :)

Someone’s paid more than $593 for a SP cassette??? I can understand vinyl going for a lot more, but a CASSETTE?

I’m wondering what is the most expensive SP cassette that anyone has seen?

I don’t think it could be more than this one:

The Death of a Dictionary is the debut album by alternative rock band Public Affection, who subsequently changed their name to \"Live\" and released seven more studio albums. It was released in 1989, while the band members were still in high school, via the band’s own label, Action Front Records. Just 2,000 copies of the album were made, all on cassette, and it is long out of print. The track \"Good Pain\" was eventually reworked for inclusion on the first Live EP, Four Songs, and their debut album Mental Jewelry. The album has a sound quite different to anything the band would later release as Live. Aside from \"Good Pain\", the remainder of the songs are still only officially available on this cassette, although the album is widely available on the internet via illegal download. Between 2005 and 2007 the average eBay selling price for the official cassette was $593.00.[/quote:1ap2yesb]

    The Police – Synchronicity II

    Another suburban morning
    Grandmother screaming at the wall

We have to shout above the din of our Rice Crispies
We can’t hear anything at all
Mother chants her litany of boredom and frustrations
But we know all her suicides are fake

Daddy only stares into the distance
There’s only so much more that he can take
Many miles away something crawls from the slime at the
Bottom of a dark Scottish lake

    Another industrial ugly morning
The factory belches filth into the sky
He walks unhindered through the picket lines today
He doesn’t think to wonder why
The secretaries pout and preen like cheap tarts on a red light street
But all he ever thinks to do is watch
And every single meeting with his so-called superior
Is a humiliating kick in the crotch
Many miles away something crawls to the surface of a dark Scottish lake

    Another working day has ended
Only the rush hour hell to face
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes
    Contestants in a suicidal race
Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance
He knows that something somewhere has to break
He sees the family home now looming in the headlights
The pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache
Many miles away there’s a shadow on the door of a cottage on the
Shore of a dark Scottish lake

    Don’t want to go back
    To those feelings
    The change was wrong
    All that was there
    Was an empty space
    A hollow place
    Filled up with darkness
    The clouds cover the reality
    Wake up and see
    What is growth
    How do we shine
    If held back
    What is right
    How do we smile
    If dragged down
We’ll find the hope one day
    Somewhere under the clouds
And move on to another dream
    Tomorrow brings the smiles
    To push the darkness away

    An echo fading away
    Day after day
    Pining for his heart
    Seen in the reflection
    He’s losing connection
    To all but his image
    Refusing her advances
    She calls to him
But all that’s left of her
    Is just an echo

    we’re so insignificant
just a part of random chaos
    we can be amazed
    at the complexity
    or marvel in simplicity

    was it chance or purpose
    how we came to be
    a result of balanced turbulence
    or organised miracles
    of radical creativity

So, being myself finally got me a job. :D Have been trying to find one for 2 years, and even though it is minimum wage, it’s for an environmental organisation, who do some campaigning, policy/advisory work, organise conferences, and have a membership of all these other environmental groups (good contacts). So at least it’s some money, something to do with the environment, which is what I’ve wanted to do, and it’s a step up from what I’ve done before – as I will be sole charge of an office. 8)

    Tired eyes, weary heart
    No sleep to dream
    Of what may come
    Not knowing where to start

    With the warnings to heed
    Around the circles inside
    You can’t escape it
    Any more than you need

    It’s evident in your surrounds
    The shame of your change
Lost in the path of the ghosts
    Their weakened trails now found

The path is clear enough to find
And the only thing to do
Is to keep a safe distance
When time keeps leaving you behind

I don’t think he read from the book at all. But played some music while Claire read from it.

Also he played In the Arms of Sleep, which hasn’t been performed live since 96-97…

    Where are the lonely souls?
    – gathering sea shells in the mud
    picking up broken pieces
    unsure of their goals
    Where is that magic spell?
    – it’s written in cryptic code
used to heal and make whole
    an empty and broken shell
And when the piece is mended
    the patterns will make sense
    colours blending together
when the lonely search has ended

    childhood memories lost in time
alarm rings and its time to go
a small ray of light from inside
    gives enough energy to leave

    riding through the streets
stare at the grey towers above
a small part of the system
    working for what happiness?

    emptiness dwelling inside
dig within for a ray of hope
bring it out and create something new
    for people to share

    emptiness fills with bliss
    escaping into a false reality
a magical blend of colours and shades
    accolades from the addiction

    but what does it achieve?
the grey towers are still there
    but far in the distance
    the childrens’ laughter rings out.
