yes, derek, we do give a fuck.

i just won the pisces iscariot 12" + 7", sealed, numbered 7/2000 on ebay. for only $202. i’ve always wanted to have this, but never wanted to pay more than that. yay! :)
good thing i decided to check ebay yesterday, or i would have completely missed this.[/quote:2n3fczu6]

I was watching it for a few days but never put in a bid after it went higher than I was willing to spend. Good win though. I hope you enjoy it!

In your expert opinion, given todays market, what is a fair price to pay for a NM or better copy? I stopped looking for a copy over a year ago. And given SP vinyl prices are all over the map and flucuate far to much and far to often, any advice that the pros can offer would be helpful.[/quote:1duqistx]

for a sealed copy I’d say anywhere from 200 to 250 dollars would seem reasonable. not sealed, maybe 100 to 150? i bought mine a long time ago so i haven’t been paying attention to prices on this item.[/quote:1duqistx]

Around $100 is what I remember from a year ago, but I wasn’t sure how well that price would translate today. Thanks for your advise. If anyone comes across one, let me know…

What other cool things did you find/buy?

Is that Singles OST the same pressing that I have from Holland? It seems to be the only release with the yellow sticker on the front. If it is, it’s still not in the database. Not only did you pick up a LiD retail but a TP also…WELL DONE! And, those cardsleeves look amazing. I’m not even a CD collector but I’m impressed with your purchase.

I still need a regular retail LiD for my collection if anyone wants to help me out.

It looks like I’m late to the party again!

I’m usually a sucker for matrix codes and run out messages but would not have thought twice about those numbers. Great job Bram :!: I buy and collect a lot of Third Man Records releases which almost always have a message etched into their records. So I’m ‘trained’ to look for them on each record that I buy. I enjoy most of them even if I don’t get the inside joke that they usually are. These on the other hand are, well…..you know.

I’ll be following this topic, but I likely won’t have much to contribute. I hope that will be helpful in keeping this clean and factual.

WTF? I have the opposite for mine:

‘the price of Gish has increased from $23.75 to $24.12 ‘
‘the price of Siamese Dream has increased from $24.01 to $24.48 ‘

I know it’s only a small amount, but why does it go up when your prices go down? :?
    [/quote:32qglc6u]

The message you’re receiving of the prices increasing are likely appearing in your "Cart". Your cart will alert you of any increasing or decreasing of price while the item is in your cart.

Arthur received the same message that I did. This is due to when you placed your preorder. Amazon’s policy is that from the point of pre-order, regardless of the price at the time of preorder, they will only charge you their lowest selling price from that date to the day it’s released. If you place your order and the price is 28 something, and at some point along the way to release date the price drops to 22 something, they will only charge you 22 something when they ship it out = a savings of $5ish.

I hope that helps. I love their preorder policy 8) I don’t ever have to worry about a lower price because I know that I’ll get the absolute lowest.

I took the dive yesterday and bought the vinyl reissues. I wasn’t planning on it but they are soooo shiney 8) I couldn’t pass them up. Actually, it’s because I collect vinyl first and foremost and that’s how I’ll listen to the album proper. I got the deluxe for the bonus and dvd.

The vinyl is AMAZING. I can’t believe how much depth there is. I’m glad they did a mastering specifically for the vinyl release. I can honestly tell that they did. I haven’t done any waveforms to prove my claim but my ears can not hear any clipping and I didn’t notice any sibilance. Which in todays world is saying something. I can really hear the layering on SD and small effect that passed over me before (in the fade outs). I’m going to listen to the Gish vinyl tonite. If you have the means you should hear the vinyl. I’m astounded how articulate the pressing is. I’ll have more examples tomorrow.

    the album sounds MASSIVE…!!!
super super super clear… very very crisp!

    as for the SD bonus:

    02. Siamese Dream -> TOTALLY different song to the Disarm 7: B-side; oh my god how they butchered this sister to HKK into the b-side version?! amazing song, great Pumpkins-jam! THE TRANSITION BETWEEN GISH AND SD as far as I am concerned…!!! :))) Amazing work there… Pumpkins-prime!!!! :) :) :) with LOADS of Hendrix in there, just listen to the very end… :)

(BC is SO right in his interviews on the re-issues— imagine this (and more to come and Pissant!) on SD…?! it would not have worked in any way!)

    18. Soma -> no mega production, basically the ‘same’ as the album… but with a different break/solo part… DIRTY distortion after the mellow part…

    [/quote:u6onkzc7]

MASSIVE might be an understatement. I can’t believe how many layers you can actually hear this time around. There is so much separation and room to breathe that I can hear so many details I didn’t realize were there.

Siamese Dream: This version is incredible when compared to the 7"
also, I can’t help but laugh when Billy gets silly. He even cracked himself up twice. The end puts me in stiches

I finally got my shipping notice from Amazon. I think it’s funny though that I was local shop yesterday and saw them sitting on the shelf; CD and vinyl versions both. I only bought the deluxe editions but now that I’ve seen the vinyl, I’m really tempted to get those too. Can anyone tell me how the vinyl sounds in comparison to the originals?

I’ll chime in and say thanks. This is my favorite place on the web. It allows me to be the nerd I always wanted to be and it fits right with my busy real world life. If it weren’t for all of the hard work and meticulious details, I might as well consider myself lost as a SP collector. so…..A sincere THANK YOU!

i’m buying strange fruit/peel sessions 10", unnumbered. finally. i bought this before, but then it got lost in the mail. hopefully all goes fine now.

also: astral planes 7", and that mcis 3lp test pressing.[/quote:c1v8ij2h]

HOLY Records Batman!!! Those are excellent additions to your collection.

Being a vinyl guy, I still need a copy of Strange Fruit. It’s easy enough to get, I just need to get around to buying one. How much harder is it to obtain the un-numbered?

I have both 7" so I’m glad you got to finish your quest. I know you’ve been waiting for a while now, did you get a good price?

I know that I am better off only dreaming about a TP like MCIS so congrats. On a more serious note, what does one do with a TP?

I just bought the deluxe reissues from amazon with their pre-order guarantee. Now to decide if I need to add another copy of the vinyl to my collection when I already have the originals. Is the remaster on 180g really worth buying another copy of each? Thoughts anyone….

I can’t say that this was widely available in the US but I did purchase it from a local shop (The single largest collection of vinyl in the world) that is now out of business called Record Rama. But that was several years ago now and haven’t seen another copy since. This is why I assumed it was more ‘rare’

From a collector standpoint, why isn’t the Dutch version in the database? I have a copy and can’t seem to find much info on it. Likewise, I have never seen a copy available on eBay or other websites either. Is this pressing less available than Brazil/Korea?

I enjoy the new demo. My question at this point is as follows; On Geek and Tulips you can hear the vocals in way far off distance, but why? If they are supposed to be early instrumental demos shouldn’t the vox be absent? I’m not complaining, just curious.
