Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori just remembered that spfc.org has info on these (under bootlist):

Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorBut I wonder why this picture thingy discussed here should be called a promo anyway.[/quote:21xp864t]
it is usually sold as a "promo". i think that’s the only reason.
of course it is just a bootleg.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI don’t know. The incomplete tracklist could make sense in the \"promo sampler\" kind of way. Like the Siamese Dream 5 track sampler promo cd.
Bonus tracks on a promo vinyl?: hardly ever. Normally the promos are identical to the commercial release, tracklist-wise.
There actually exists a promo vinyl version of Machina, and it’s just a white label (test?) pressing of the regular vinyl. (I don’t own it though.)I think that the fact that this is a picture disc, instead of the typical white label promos they usually give out for albums and singles, makes this release more questionable, instead of more convincing.
Anyway, this is definitely a bootleg. I even think the other, non-picture-disc versions carry an EMI logo. Which doesn’t make sense for a European Smashing Pumpkins release in 2000. (Right?)
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorDefinitely a bootleg.
I found some pictures on eBay:
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorscans of the cd single and the vinyl single have been submitted.
anyone seen a 2-track cd single and/or a cd single in a cardboard sleeve yet?
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthey used the horror movie intro at pukkelpop.
it was actually kinda weird, because they came on stage a bit too early. so then they just stood there for a while for the intro tune to finish, before they would start playing the first song.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectator26
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorhis humour is too weird for the average spectator.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI can actually say that it would really bother me if Iha decided to come back now.[/quote:3hsbhffl]
You are assuming a lot here:
– that they asked James to join the renewed Pumpkins but that he decided not to
– that James can come back whenever he feels likeI don’t think you should do that, because as far as I know, that is pure speculation. We don’t know what happened. The first one could be true or false, the second one seems very unlikely to me.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorSo what are your plans with your site (eventually…)?[/quote:6p5ddjxg]
i’ll probably just delete it one day.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori was referring to the vieuphoria dvd release. on the back, it says silvercrf***. i thought this was the case on all the copies. (when they list the bonus tracks, they list it correctly: silverf***. so don’t look at that and think \"oh, my copy doesn’t have the typo\". there’s another silverfuck there!)
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoryeah, i found the exercise glasses after i made the request in this thread. i’m fine for now.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorfine, don’t believe me then. i was only kidding anyway.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorhey now, i can’t help it. i was born a cutie.
(thanks, arthur)
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori actually heard the album before the pumpkins played their first show.
(please let me have one of your spare sunglasses. please!)
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatoron the back of the vieuphoria video tape, silverfuck has been renamed to silvercrank.
on the dvd, they wanted to replace it with silverf***, but at one place they edited it incorrectly and it resulted in silvercrf***.related: the censored version of siamese dream, where they left of the tracklisting from the back of the cd. obviously also to avoid the word \"fuck\" on the artwork.
there exists a \"blurred\" version of the ava adore video, with someone’s butt blurred out. i guess this is the version they used to show on television.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorI agree with you the artwork of the SP releases has many stories to tell and anecdotes to be discovered.[/quote:2zka8fgb] pisces iscariot anyone?[/quote:2zka8fgb]
wow. the "d’arcy-bass-coffin" is old news, man. i knew about it back in may.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorno, i don’t. i’m way too handsome already, without exercising. don’t wanna explode in hottnessss…
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatormaybe luxe’s posts on netphoria were seen (incorrectly?) as spam? i personally don’t think the pumpkins or anyone related to them had something to do with it.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorapparently paris hilton is in the video.
and about what is going on: the band meets up and plays. that’s basically it.
in the beginning they’re all alone. then they get in touch with each other, take their space ships and meet. then they perform.2007.08.30 at 8:06 am in reply to: For the freakin’ country collectors: Zeitgeist CD by country #2516
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorto be more complete, the second EU red 12-track (sold in the UK as a Virgin exclusive) should also be added.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorno, i’m not.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorexcellent. good luck at the platenbeurs!
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatori did some searching and this is all i could come up with for now: http://forums.netphoria.org/showpost.ph … stcount=50
I went turntable (don’t know the model offhand) > DAT (M1) > ZeFiro card, and I’m pretty sure I burned CDs for a couple people (Ammy might’ve gotten one, since I think she came over when I did the xfer, and I think TSP asked for a copy from me- didn’t I hear something about the euro boots/promos being sourced from my xfer?), so there -should- be "sped up" lossless copies -somewhere- out there… I probably still have the CDRs somewhere in my mom’s basement, but it’d probably be faster to find someone else with a set. JJB?[/quote:th5ertu5]
so, this isn’t really confirmed, but it explains where i got this idea from that the german promo might be inferior quality, compared to the other ones out there.if this is true, the german promo contains eric agnew’s "slightly fast thanks to my cheap-ass turntable" transfer of the vinyl. this transfer was widely spread in mp3 format right after machina II came out. according to this quote, lossless copies exist, but these aren’t widely available right now.
i must say though, i also heard this elsewhere (but i can’t find that back right now), which makes it more probable to me that this is actually the true story behind the german machina II promos.
Cool As Ice CreamSpectatorthat would make no sense at all.
i don’t feel like backing this all up right now, but i think the fact that the virgin in-house promos were vinyl sourced, says it all.
