And a nice car to park there (it only needs to be shipped from the US to Africa)…

That QR code thingy works with a smartphone with an app that reads such code with the camera on the phone. It then should automatically open a website on your phone (in this case a memorial page). Never tried a QR code though, who knows it leads to a XXX site. Not waiting for that when I visit a cemetery.

However, I found the combination of modern techniques with the ancient concept of a grave rather interesting.

Good idea, done. Since the cd contains an IFPI code, it is not likely this is a boot, I just realized.

Spot on, Cool. It’s a mixture of all that. Meanwhile we have a very active Dutch collector sending in HUNDREDS of new items, which badly needs uploading. His collection contains some amazing stuff. I just don’t have the time to manage it properly currently… :(

When I was single, I would just lock the front door for the whole weekend, order a pizza for three nights in a row, set up a Smashing Pumpkins jukebox and then I would start researching, scanning, e-mailing, uploading, etc. Those times have gone… :(

However, starting tomorrow, I will have a lot more time to spend on SPfreaks, and I plan to do so. My wife and son are away for three weeks, celebrating Chinese New Year in Malaysia. It was my decision not to go with them, meanwhile working and catching up on things. :)

Exactly, sorry guys. Working 60 hours a week (40 + travel time to customers that is) and having a family with a kid is killing for my favourite hobby currently. :(

Bought this for 20 bucks yesterday. My second Bob Masse doing a Pumpkins concert poster, and again signed by the artist. Happy! :)

Yeah, that’s what I figured out. But I wondered if one of the watermarked promos was the same as the commercial release. Obviously not, which means a watermark in SP land really means something.

interesting. all my non-sp ones (not that many) come with a number.

so you think some of these watermarked cds don’t actually contain a watermark? and they just say the cd is watermarked to stop people from leaking the album? i really wonder if they sometimes do that. it would be cool to find a watermarked release and prove that it doesn’t contain a watermarked.

i compared different copies of TFE and zeitgeist, and none of them were identical. (i made a perfect copy of the audio with EAC, and compared the audio.) so i believe those watermarked releases definitely contained a unique watermark.[/quote:29be17jj]
You compared all watermarked releases with a non-watermarked?

Tipp-Ex. They do sell that in Mexico, I heard. ;)

I’m not a boot collector, but I found one I had never seen before called Next Of Kins. It contains a lot of the Machina tracks of an April 1999 show and as far as I know, there are not many boots from that period. Let’s hope it’s soundboard quality…[/quote:188l6m8l]

I have seen this one on Ebay

I found it a little bit to expensive, because in th tekst it was saying it was a CDr[/quote:188l6m8l]
20 bucks looked ok to me, but yeah, it said CD-R indeed. But released by Lizard Records. And the case didn’t look home made to me either. Anyway, let’s see. Sometimes it can be worthwhile to take a risk… ;)

the Daughter flexi disc came in today

it was for 250 dollar on discogs

I made a (funny) offer of 30 and strangely it was accepted[/quote:16xxd5ck]
Un-be-lie-va-ble! The seller must have been drunk accepting that. However, doesn’t matter, you win big times here. A while back I tried that on a Siamese Dream pink vinyl, which was offered for 125 Euro or something, and I tried an offer of 50 Euro. Not accepted. Ah well, I pretend not to be a vinyl collector anyway. :?

I’m afraid you are right. This is his next single in Holland. Love it, again.

And on a sidenote, I wanted to go see him in Paradiso Amsterdam, where he was booked for two dates in November. Sold out already, damn!

A friend just told me it’s not 99, but a heart or star doodle. We know of a December 1999 Metro flyer that was signed by Billy Corgan, and he clearly wrote 1999 there. At the Machina era signing sessions in 2000 this promo cd was given away and sometimes signed. Also many Machina lithos were signed during these sessions. We have a few examples of them on SPfreaks in the Autographs section. Melissa kept her signature more ‘simple’ most of the times with just an X before and after MAdM. Good to know! :)

Now I also found a Japanese promo for the Oceania Live In NYC 2CD/DVD release. Happy! 8)

Here’s a pic of that signed promo CD I bought last weekend. For some reason I love it. Especially Melissa made her signature quite extraordinary, with extra XX, and an arrow! And all autographs are crystal clear too!

Furthermore, I have the idea that Billy wrote 99 at his signature. He is known to write a year next to his autograph on many occassions, mostly as a full year though. It should have been 1999 then. So maybe it’s something else (a heart)? When it turns out to be 99 indicating the year it was signed, it makes this promo CD quite something. So far I have never seen an autographed Smashing Pumpkins item from 1999, a year when not much happened in SP world, public appearances-wise.

And we know this promo CD was released in December 1999, so it must have been signed almost immediately in its month of release then. Most likely locations where it was signed were at the two Metro, Chicago gigs the band did that month. The seller had no clue however; he bought it from someone in Michigan, and that’s all he knew about it. He only suggested, without knowing for sure, there might have been a signing session with Smashing Pumpkins in that same period in Michigan.

What are your thoughts, fellow collectors?

in reply to: Oceania Live In NYC (watermarked promo) Question #47155

Thanks Sven. In fact my question will only be fully answered if we find another copy of this promo with the same number (21 or 25) but with a different name. I think it is very likely that this will happen someday, because it is hard to believe that only 25 of these promos were made in the UK.
