Anyone who can accept a ‘pumpkin room’,when they’ve never even heard of the band, can’t be a bad thing![/quote:6c8esquk]

Hmm, I didn’t win the environmental or Bjork poetry competitions. Next time!

But I have put together 6 poems for the chapbook!

Now to find some images. 8)

I cannot claim much of anything with this site. I didn’t start it. That’s Arthur, Sven, Jeroen, Thom, and Detlef. I came around in 2007, after the initial launch. The Most thanks should always go to Redwolf, imo. I understand now where I fit in, and the forum has just been a massive let down for me personally. I tried starting a philosophical forum, it’s dead. I post updates to the collection thread to no response (minus Arthurs comment). I lost a very good friend here as well. I pose questions to the forum that get no responses. I’ll just say it’s me, not you. I will stick around and update still if Arthur allows, but I think that’s it. I fear I’ve already said too much. Good luck to all the nice collectors out there. We have a total of 3 mods now, so Deb can take over that role. [/quote:3p8lpa91]

    I don’t think I can actually.

I don’t think anyone can expect much from a forum that caters mainly to a small group of collectors, and an even smaller group of them who contribute to the general discussions. And the forum isn’t that widely known, only a few of my SPfan friends have heard of it because I linked them to it. And there are a few fans that know about it and are collectors but aren’t big on archiving online. Like the guy I met on a bus a few weeks ago!

but yeah, not much response in the philosophical thread – no one care :(

I’m no ‘big shot’ collector, but other than SP, I have ALL albums by:

    Muse
    Deftones

    [/quote:3jgl0rgg]

add to that all albums/EPs by Lovedrug and Jakob, mainly digital versions though, due to lack of space, due to all my other CDs!

I’ll chime in and say thanks. This is my favorite place on the web. It allows me to be the freak I always wanted to be and it fits right with my busy real world life. If it weren’t for all of the hard work and meticulious details, I might as well consider myself lost as a SP collector. so…..A sincere THANK YOU![/quote:36mhquad]

    fixed :P

and so true. And also Derek – I appreciate when I ask you ‘IS THIS RARE?’ And of course it never is that rare, lol. I also think Kerry and Billy would be quite appreciative of all the historical documenting of these items that you, Arthur, and others are doing! And I know that it is mainly you at the moment.

The following day I was just dead, pain all over my body, my ribs were the worst… but it was well worth it, I actually regret not having tickets for both days. :D[/quote:1ddkad2n]

haha – the things we endure for our favourite bands! :D

I would translate that as: ‘Huh, your work IS appreciated, wtf are you thinking?’

    also:

Awesome jobs you are doing, Derek. [/quote:h4jym4gq]

and I’m sure a lot of other people appreciate it too!

I’m impressed you find the time to do all the uploading/checking for accuracies, etc, to be honest.

(but on that date Smashing Pumpkins was travelling from UK/IE to South Africa for 2 gigs!?)

3 gigs (Centurion, Durban and Cape Town) – would love to get audio recordings of any of these shows…sigh[/quote:13u85rym]

me too as i’m still very curious to know how these dates went down with the audience(s) over there…
i guess it must have been massive and BC said so, but to hear it is quite something else…

the South-African, South-American and Portugal shows are still amongst the favorites for TSP i know.
now, that would be a good one to release properly…[/quote:13u85rym]

I should ask my contacts over there, they are not SP fans, but may know of some. It’s like ‘hey do you know of any Smashing Pumpkins fans who might have gone to the shows in 2000? And do they remember what it was like?’

wow, 4000 words in a day?! That’s flowing alright!

And good luck with your projects, I’m afraid I want to focus on my story first… Hope you understand…[/quote:350eekp1]

Sounds cool! It makes me want to read more too :) Do you have a target of how much you want to write, or how big the book will be?

I started writing a few stories a few years ago but haven’t had the motivation to keep the story going. Ran out of ideas, didn’t think it was very original, so I kinda gave up.

Current project: working on some ideas for a zine or chapbook – if anyone would like to contribute an article, poem, short story, photo, artwork, let me know. 8)

    Edit: examples of chapbooks:

    Mutemath \"All Or Nothing\"

Aligning stars that you wait for
Always know if you’re holding back
    Don’t slow yourself down anymore

    We watch the days fly
    While all the years try
    Telling us something
    Don’t waste a whole life
    On just a half try
    It’s all or nothing

Cold sparks are seconds from burn out
    Everyone has an hour glass
    To turn back upside down

    We watch the days fly
    While all the years try
    Telling us something
    Don’t waste a whole life
    On just a half try
    It’s all or nothing

    4.39am

    what it is
    to live in this machine
    that kills all hope
    and drowns out inspiration
    this machine that breathes
    and sucks you down
    consumes your life
    and controls your every move
there are the few that know
    they are awake
they live on the wave’s edge, they are restless
    they want to break away
    some have already made it
    and it hurts to know
    we can all be free
we know the tide is turning[/quote:3j8fsts7]

Somewhat similar idea, from a recent speech:

"There’s a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious — makes you so sick at heart — that you can’t take part. You can’t even passively take part. And you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop. And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all."

Boy and Bear – Feeding Line

    My body moves in time
We’re begging on the feeding line
We’re lifting out above this head space
    See my body overflows

But I got my whole damn life
Caught up in moments entirely of yours
But I’m finding it harder to reason in order to grow
And finding it hard is a feeling that all of you know
    Know, know

See my body keeps in line
And I got my whole damn life
Oh I want to be somebody, somebody, someone
    You’re so desperate now
No, you won’t let it go
But you bit off your tongue to become one

And nevertheless when this pain in my chest seems to grow
I’m living it harder to feel what it feels like to know
    You know, know, know

    *whistling*

In the home I lived in I came to grow
My body’s cumbersome and it’s slow
But I felt it felt it coming over me

I got my whole damn life
Caught up in moments entirely of yours
I’m finding it harder to reason in order to grow
And finding it hard is a feeling that all of you know

Nevertheless, when this pain in my chest seems to grow
    And you know
    You know, know, know
