SvenSpectatorSven, hats off to another great article on SP.com.
You write better articles, than posts on this forum, though. Were you drunk again, or something!
[/quote:28hj98lm]
Thanks Arthur for the compliments on my article over @ TSP.com!!!
I do my very and utmost BEST!!!-Also, Arthur!- no hard feelings!- but: if and when I do post here from genuine enthousiasm and passion and more- that doesn’t mean I am or was ‘drunk’ or ‘something’!- and: I do not like the insinuation nor the inferrence therein-
OK- so my post here might have been a little bit ‘different’ and ‘passionate’ and all-
That DOESN’T per se MEAN I was drunk or something!!!-
Thanks.
I really DO NOT appreciate my passion and more to be mistaken for substance-abuse of any kind.
Thank you.
SvenSpectatoryou answer alot of questions if you catagorize a tp / wlp as one in the same.[/quote:3jovm1en]
Uhmmm… Does that make sense? Test pressings come by the few only (but the actual test pressings are sometimes "upgraded" and send out as promos, that’s true) while White Label Promos come by the dozens and serve another purpose… to be used as a promo in the first place.[/quote:3jovm1en]i agree, Arthur-
for literally ALL vinyl releases true TEST PRESSINGS are made to check the master matrix and all.
some of these, be it: an ‘over-run’ in TEST PRESSINGS or whatever, did get used as WL promos.
but: you’d NEVER wanna promo something out that wasn’t OK!- so: these TEST PRESSINGS turned into WL promos were per se the OK-d and thus OK master matrix pressings.
then: there are also the REAL and TRUE WL promos. these are mostly among or the first pressings from the OK-d master, with a White Label and promo-d out…
while I agree it can be difficult or near impossible sometimes even to distinguish a WL promo from a TP… there, basicaly and productionally, IS a difference.
for example:
– BC himself told me there are very few copies of the MACHINA 2LP TP-
– he OK-d it although when the bass kicks in during TEG on a lot of record-players the needle ‘jumps’- well: ‘tough luck’ as BC said—still:
– MACHINA WL promos might exist too???!!!!—as per the pressing of Cherub Rock mentioned above/below-
shit happens even in true pressings and all-
vinyl error, some dust, something else-
shit happens—-basically:
– TP > internal use to check only —
– WL > external use, so: checked and OK-d product only —sometimes the TP is OK and thus: TPs are ‘upgraded’ to WL promos.
as per such: TPs ARE something totally ELSE and DIFFERENT than WL promos.
SvenSpectatorlooks cool-
somehow though-
i’d say it’s a bootleg.
SvenSpectator1- thanks for the kind words!-
2- YES! – it NOT ONLY LOOKS like a PENIS!!!- it’s a drawing of ONE too, even!—-!!!
3- Still:
The Pixies – ‘Minotaur’ box (penis or not or whatever!) is ONE heck of a splendid box set, even!: a TRUE work of art!—
mind you!:
I won’t buy ‘Minotaur’,
I didn’t get the ‘Ten’ box by Pearl Jam either!,
nor:
the full deal totally deluxe edition of a sorry excuse for a mis-happened record called ‘Ghosts I-IV’ by NIN!;still:
I DO totally APPRECIATE ‘Minotaur’ as that’s totally AWESOME!!! if you ARE into the Pixies!,
I DO totally APPRECIATE the ‘TEN’ box set re-issue by Pearl Jam as that’s totally AWESOME!!! if you ARE into PJ!!—on a tangent, but still-
last week, I was in Manchester, UK at a friend of mine-
that night we were to see NIN play their show at the M.E.N. Arena-
via some contacts we were notified Jane’s Addiction would NOT only open for NIN the same and next night at the O2 Arena in London (which my friend and I would attend too), but also play an intimate show the day-after in London!-SO!-
I texted my ex-girlfriend-
(for: I knew she’d be in London with a looney-friend of hers!)
about this SPECIAL and INTIMATE JA-show!-as:
neither my friend nor I myself can give a shit about JA!, not in an arena nor in a small venue!-as:
I gathered my ex-gf would appreciate this small show!-OK!, heck!-
she’s too way down the ‘borderline’-hole to acknowledge my/our tip/notice!
(nor: say any thnx! or whatever for letting her KNOW!)-still:
she went with her friend!- to this small JA-show!-
OK!- cool!- just like I thought and meant it to be!-
(from a contact of mine in the NIN/JA-crew I learned she was there, got backstage; and—-errr—- let’s NOT go there?!- OK?!- thnx!)—-what I’m trying to say is:
– when I/we notified my ex-GF about that intimate JA-show-
that WAS because I/we KNEW it was something special!-
it would mean something to HER!!!-my friend and I-
we could have been there without any trouble!-
we weren’t!- we didn’t!-
we don’t give a SHIT about JA!-NOW!!!-
if and when you don’t give a shit about the Pixies-
> you don’t and won’t buy ‘Minotaur’!!!-
simple as that-
perfect!if and when you don’t give a shit about Pearl Jam or Pearl Jam’s ‘Ten’ album-
> you don’t and won’t buy the ‘Ten’ box set edition!!!-
simple as that-
perfect!-per se-
i.e.:
DON’T GIVE A SHIT-
DON’T BUY THE SHIT-as per NIN with the way below mediocre, or: even better, even: to be honest: totally shameful: ‘Ghosts I-IV’-
> PIXIES >>> old stuff!—
> PEARL JAM >>> old stuff!—as per NIN-
> NEW stuff!—
TOTAL CRAP! OK! TOTALLY!—
STILL!!!-
it sold like a motherfucker and made Trent Reznor fucking rich in just ONE day of this abomination going on sale!-WHY????
CAUSE!!!—
People DID give a SHIT!- or: GAVE! a SHIT then!—-
Jane’s Addiction NEVER did it for me-
Jane’s Addiction WAS shit and SHITE on record; as far as I was and am concerned!-
Hence: I didn’t give a SHIT!-
NOT for their opening show @ the M.E.N. Arena- (and, boy!: DID they SUCK!- what a horrible band JA totally IS!!!)
NOT for their opening show @ the O2 Arena! (need I say: same old, same old!; alas!- my friend and I went in at the VERY end of JA’s set only!!!- from the backstage that was!; as we were being ‘kicked-out’ as NIN had to get ready for their show!)
NOT for their own show in a small venue!-My ex-GF DID give a SHIT!-
SO!: she was there at the intimate show as per my/our prior/advance notice!-
She loved it- I/we hope/trust/gather—
At least: backstage-stories…. NOPE!— won’t go there!—-WHY????
CAUSE!!!—
She DID give a SHIT!-
per se, ok!-CAUSE!!!—
Apart from her-
People DID give a SHIT!- or: GAVE! a SHIT then!—-
CAUSE!!!—
It had been SO LONG since a show by Jane’s Addiction in the UK!—
A long time since-
Thus: something ‘special’-
Someting ‘special’ you can be part-of-Same applies to:
‘Ghosts I-IV’ by NIN > NEW MUSIC! – STILL UNHEARD!!! > STILL: it had been quite a while: limited editions! > being part-of! > thus: total selling-out of the editions!-
or:
does it, really?!-
now-
THAT’s what’s the point of my article on SP.com!!!-
– is it REALLY like my ex-GF going to see JA for she’d NEVER seen them before in a small club (apart from the night before at the O2 Arena) and thus!- just: having to BE there!-
– is it REALLY like buying this thing for collection’s sake and nothing more?-
or:
– can The Smashing Pumpkins make their release(s) from The Archive totally ‘worthwhile’?!-
– to not be bought and had by those like my ex-GF: just to have, just to have been there-????
– to not be bought and gather dust only!-
but:
– to be bought to be APPRECIATED!!!!
(like I and my friend DO NOT appreciate JA- but: thought to know: my ex-GF ‘might’ APPRECIATE JA! and!- THUS: gave her the notice!)
(like I and my friend both collect and DO and even that very JA-night!- DID enjoy!- his special vinyls, special editions, deluxe sets, box sets and all!!)
(like I and my friend – as much as we could have easily been there!- opted NOT to be!- there at that very JA-show!- plus: to grand our tickets and passes and all to her, to someone who’d APPRECIATE the MOMENT!!!)– APPRECIATION!!!! totally!!!—
like:
with-
> my ex-GF @ JA in the small club show!-
> Radiohead as per pre-order fans-only!-
> et cetera—-To and for me:
It’s all about: APPRECIATION!!!-
I just hope the box WILL be released in a way which will bring APPRECIATION!!!-
That’s all-
(Sure!- my ex-GF might have and surely DID APPRECIATE the small club show by JA!- my/our advance notice and our doing further-more: NO thnx!; NO appreciation!!!)
I just hope and trust whatever The Smashing Pumpkins decide to release from The Archive will bring APPRECITION!-
– not only as per the contents-
– not only as per the format, form or design-Just: because!-
– like David and I advance notified my ex-GF- per se and nothing more!-Just: because!-
– any release from The Archive IS- per se and nothing more!-A GIFT!-
– something to say: thank you to and about!-
– something to APPRECIATE!-My article only means to make the format of release the most viable way and, to me at least, that is!, the most efficient way!- to garantee: APPRECIATION!!!!—
That’s all-
Thnx.
xos.s.
SvenSpectatorwell maybe she is cleaned up for the most part and had a bad day and a few drinks jamming out to the radio and along came the Monkees and made her feel better, enough to call in
[/quote:2fm059wo]
yeah!-
somewhat along these lines I was thinking too.
she doesn’t sound TOTALLY ‘wasted’…
however: to me at least, she DOES sound ‘under the influences’…
now: I wouldn’t immediately say it’s downers, uppers, ‘Columbian’ or whatever….
and: I’m not saying she cleaned up her record as per current use of hard drugs…
however:
personally:
I found D’Arcy:
– quite ‘nervous’ or ‘shaky’, while at the same time quite ‘sharp’!- as in: how she managed some quite ‘dimplomatic’ answers…
– somewhat ‘shaky’ throughout…
– not unfocussed totally…
– not totally focussed either…I’d say:
– mix between a couple of drinks and some ‘Columbian’ would do the tricknothing to worry about or something: just D’Arcy spending some off time with some pleasure-stuff, hearing a song on the air, deeming it a great idea to call (again!- so it seems!) and there you have it
no basket case or anything, not fucking wasted or anything-
Just: a little bit ‘hammered’ with a little help from another ‘substance’ I’d say-having said this and thus!, NOT condemning her or anything!!!!, mind you!-
I do hope and trust she’s OK, off the crack and stuff! and above all: I hope she’s happy, sound, loved, cared-for and healthy-
plus:
whatever we or I make from this recording:
it’s SO good – at least to me! – to hear her again!!!—-
SvenSpectatorwas this part of a collection from a radio station or something before?-
what’s up with the ‘WJUL’ tags all over the place????
otherwise: nice one though…
SvenSpectatori kinda DO like the song-
OK- it’s rather hippy and trippy and blissed out ‘peace and love’-
STILL- for Sky Saxon it’s normal business and it’s a nice jammy summer-y tune in a way-my biggest ‘problem’ though—-
it just doesn’t seem to be going anywhere…
no natural dynamics, no movement or anything- no natural built-up…
not even towards a truely amazing solo or something-
it just goes along and along and along and along…therefore it’s kinda boring in a way…
nonetheless: i DO like the song with the nice hot summer weather now, here—-
SvenSpectatorYou told me the gold version was rare then the silver version some months back.
I dont blame you for not remember, oldie.[/quote:34lvttmn]
I think the purple one is the rarest. No seriously, but I might have said that actually. And changed my mind now, since I see that gold set appear multiple times on the market. And I have not seen the silver discs yet, except for my copy… But there must be more of those silver disced sets also I’m sure. I’m not sure what the collectors here think about this Intimate & Interactive set and it’s rarity?[/quote:34lvttmn]
i don’t know the specific pressing numbers of course…
but:
normally these discs were rather limited in numbers…as far as i’ve been able to find out and it makes total sense-
it all depended on the stature in populairty of the band-
big bands – more radio stations interested or willing to do a special – hence: higher numbers made-
small band – only the really important stations (might even have been smaller or college radio ones only!) – hence: smaller numbers made-tihs one is for TSP in 98-
quite a HUGE band back then!-
ok- ADORE didn’t DO very well-
*which might have meant: PROMO NEEDED!!!!! though*
but still-
no 1000s of copies-
but no 10s too, i’d say-
somewhere around 100 or something?
SvenSpectatorI don’t buy much these days since I’m on a budget, but every now and then I receive a nice present. This one is quite something, I received it a week ago from some of my best friends here. Beyond awesome, this one!
It is the very rare BBC Transcription In Concert 651 cd, with the (almost complete) Reading UK August 1995 concert. I think "very rare" is an understatement, I have seen this one twice only in my whole collecting career of almost 15 years. And I also own the other BBC disc of 1993, so…
This is an extraordinary concert by the way, where Smashing Pumpkins played some material from Mellon Collie already. It was the second time they played Porcelina live, for example! And as you can see also, the Smashing Pumpkins hardly played live in 1995… http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=TOURHISTORY&year=1995 All in all, a very special disc.
I will try to scan it today and upload the pics on our site.[/quote:367j87lj]
well Arthur-
amazing addition to your collection for sure!!!
sympathising with your current situation as i totally am!- this is one heck of a true gem to add!!!!
i’d love to hear a straight rip!!!
i must have one somewhere i guess, but these are always TOP-NOTCH recordings!!!!!!
awesome disc for sure!
SvenSpectatori do tend to disagree—
at first i was like- TSP v.2.0 = BC+JC…
then the band DID seem the have something special going and all and it worked and the idea grew on me…
although Ginger and Jeff and Lisa were never ‘true’ Pumpkins per se-
they DID contribute a lot more than your average ‘session player’—-
as per Lisa > at least she shared BCs love for vintage synths…
and was and Ãs a much better keyboardist than Linda or BC himself, even…bummer, she’s gone and out-
she started out doing what BC told her to, but matured pretty quickly towards a sonic texture direction I think only a true keyboardist would have been able to go—-
oh, well—
let’s see what happens-
or: if BC pulls like an 18 year old piano prodigy out of nowhere or something
SvenSpectatorthere’s a new one coming up end of this week-
i’ve even got another one ready to go-
just got a lead unto another nice one containing a topic rarely touched upon concerning TSP, hopefully coming up after that one-
>>> the one on the subject of the ‘pre-historic’ band prior to TSP, even to The Marked, in depth; I am very busy now and will try to write this in the next two months for SPFreaks as there’s no place for this subject on sp.com…. working on it and it’s looking good as leads are true and awesome, lines are there, info is coming in and all… sit tight, wait and see- i hope to pull this off, but it might take some time to turn into a quality piece of research. it’s just i know lack the time- preparing for an interview with trent reznor and much more work still, so please bear with me, ok?, thnx.
SvenSpectatorps: i’m still laughing at your "does anyone know how the F— they did this?"
you sound very surprised: "omg a bootleg vinyl, how the F***?!? did they do this?????????????????? this is like you know impossible"
oh sven, you and your ways of saying stuff.[/quote:20t1umi9]
LOL – thnx
it was meant like:
– making a vinyl bootleg is quite some more and intricate work than making a cd bootleg; pressing plates DO end up on the open market sometimes and do make the rounds in collector’s intimate circles too; then you can soruce from vinyl and from cd too…
– i was just getting at the fact it seems like a lot of work and i just can’t see how there would be a lot of profit to be made- that’s the point i tried to make
SvenSpectatori gave it yesterday a quick listen: overall sound quality is ok.
the original vinyl sounds a little bit clearer and you can hear some more details. perhaps the bootleg is cd-sourced? the bootleg-vinyl sounds more like the machina-cd. (but i don’t have hifi-experts-ears)[/quote:3p96qi2b]
yep!
this is what is was getting at—-
for:
1- you can source vinyl from vinyl (lesser quality, but still)-
2- you can source vinyl from cd (TOTALLY WRONG as per the settings and all as per vinyl cannot reproduce the cd stuff and vice versa!!!!)so-
either it was sourced from cd or from a vinyl LP or from a vinyl LP duplicated or from a true master-plate???
that’s why i was wondering
seems to be quite inferior though—
SvenSpectatorit probably sounds bad.[/quote:2xofybp6]
indeed- i think so too-
was just wondering if someone can confirm this
SvenSpectatorit’s a bootleg alright!
but-
does anyone know how the F— they did this?
was this made from a cd or vinyl copy?plus-
what’s the sound like?
just curious, that’s all
SvenSpectatorPeeps here!!!!
I just wanted to send a MASSIVE thnx to all of you / us over here!!!!
I just checked the Poster article on TSP.com and it hit 3.333 views!!!!
That’s MASSIVE!!!!!
And I couldn’t have done this without all your contributions to SPFreaks.com!
As all imagelinks are taken from here!!!So- a major, massive and above all genuinie and fellow-fan THNX to all of you!!!!
3.333 views for a PMM article is massive….Love you for your efforts!!!
—-
Also:
Thnx for the props!
Also:
I will do my best regardering the ‘other’ article-!!!!
YES!!!!
I think this band never played live.
I have heard demo recordings though through the phone of material I know from The Marked played by this ‘band’ and original material between these guys!
And: nope- this is not a Ron Roesing trying to make himself more important than he was or is kinda story-
At least one of these people DID go on the be IMPORTANT and confirmed this band and his (be it VERY slight!!!!!!) involvement (for HIS part that is!) with this band-
Working on it-
More to follow soon—-(owww yeah- uhmmm- reading back some posts… I have to say: it’s not a band between The Marked and TSP, but pre-The Marked even!— still: there ARE recordings! these are true and genuine! plus: between The Marked and TSP (1987-1988) there’s a gap too! James was still in Snake Train, BUT; i’ve done some research (ahum, SOME, ahum) and it turns out ST was SO ‘punk-rock’ James could play it with his eyes closed so the speak so he didn’t turn up for rehearsals or something… which fits in with him spending time with BC to record and rehearse and write and whatever… as is evidenced in ‘I Fall’ which, according to BC, is a dec87 demo recording by BC+JI and thus; while JI was also still in ST…!!! so- there’s kindalike an era before The Marked and some time after The Marked, but before ‘I Fall’ (I have specifically asked BC: ‘So this is you and James; would you consider this to be the first TSP-recording?!’ To which he answered: ‘Yes: The Marked was over and done with, Ron was out; it was me and James; plus- this was the first time my vision of what I wanted my band to be started to form.’ Still- Ron Roesing WASN’T totally OUT per se as per the NEC demo tape and so there’s a lot to be cleared up… owwwww—- I just love it like this as new bits and pieces turn up all the time!!!!!)
SvenSpectatorso—
a big- mwahahahahahaha—-
above all: i guess we can be rather SURE mr Corgan so TOTALLY doesn’t WANT any kids we can trust HIM enough to make sure so or even maybe have made sure to himself!!!
gossip is nice and all—-
but this is getting kinda ridiculous with the retraction of the ‘pregnant’ message….
still—-
i find it difficult to see why BC would hang around peeps like her-
but then again:
same applied to hanging out with Marilyn Manson and (according to MM that is!) doing shrooms and maybe more with him et al….
and… and… and…so…
\"whatever\"?!!!!!—–
SvenSpectatorCouldn’t help noticing that Sven’s latest article about the Smashing Pumpkins posters is one of his most read (1,373 views, and still rapidly counting…
) also. Only his If All Goes Wrong article from October 2008 (1,500+ views) and his Gossamer article from December 2008 (2,700+) had more views so far. Pretty good job, Sven! Hats off to you!
[/quote:vgt6nkc7]
Thnx Arthur!
Thnx you guys and gals over here for the props on this article and previous ones.
Somehow it’s a kinda ‘struggle’ for me with these more ‘historical/histrionic’ articles i love to do and i am all about-
Or, better- it used to be- as the band is of course striving and moving onwards in the present day…
So: why dabble in the past, right?
Well: now with FQ digging through the Archive the momentum is great for me to chip in with my personal research done from 1994 onwards
The poster article was a precious one for me to do as i’ve been wanting to deal with this art-side of the band for quite a long time- not in the least part because this poster art totally opens the doors to appreciation of so-called ‘high-art’ to a lot of people, but also because it’s such an interesting topic to deal with as the US has quite a tradition (as perfectly exemplified in the mentioned book ‘The Art of Rock and Roll’) where Europe more or less totally doesn’t…I am not quite sure as to my next topic – be it current or historical-
If you guys and gals have ANY input or topic you want to see covered by me-
Reply in this thread and I will see what I can do!!In my article I indeed explicitly mention the New Year’s Eve poster-
This – to me – is one of the earliest examples of truly stunning TSP-art; in a style (art-nouveau) which is also quite dear to my heart and taste-
That’s why I singled that one out in particular-(it’s been a few months and I guess I can try to pick up the contact- but: I’m in touch with the guy(s) from the band BC was in BETWEEN The Marked and TSP… now: as said- there’s no use over @ TSP.com for me to cover this band or whatever, not even now… I mean: featuring this one poster by The Marked is ok as The Marked was/is featured in Vieuphoria and the band’s ‘official history’ per such… but as you can clearly see– there’s a lot more artwork by and for The Marked I have and know of, but which was left unmentioned, as the main focus was obviously on TSP all the way… however: I guess I might be able to squeeze out an interview with one or two bandmembers of this very band between The Marked and TSP and even maybe get a chance to hear and review some of the recorded material… as I know now a recording has been found by one of them… As I can’t use this for TSP.com I am considering asking the guys if it’s OK to do this for SPFreaks. However: right now- I am VERY busy- so this could very well take quite a while- still: even after this many years… it’s still possible to find out stuff like this!- i even spoke on the phone at length to one of the guys about this band already… this little bit just meant to test the waters over here @ SPFreaks to see if you’re interested in an article/interview on this elusive band right between the closure and dissolution of The Marked and the nascent Smashing Pumpkins… if you ARE- then please give me the time to set this up and work this out and we will feature this here @ SPFreaks if that’s OK with you all…)
SvenSpectator"how he got to be one of 25 people to receive what is considered the Holy Grail among Smashing Pumpkins fans: The Machina II (M2) vinyl." <= To me however, the Holy Grail is (the original) Mashed Potatoes set. Older, & more interesting songs…
[/quote:2rgtoh0x]
sure-
in a way that’s like IT—
but:
DA got this copy of MP and that’s what we’ve got copied now on our hard discs et al…
still:
as far as I know NO copy of the original MP set has surfaced to this very date-
nor have we seen any images of this one!as this was a present for close-ones and relatives and collegues this might have looked different to/from DA’s copy set…
still curious to see how that one would look
plus: yup – to get a hold of one of those, damn! now: THAT would be the ultimate addition to any collection, right?
SvenSpectator1- the inclusion of say: 1979 and BWBW warrants the ‘playing to death’ of these cds/cdrs…
2- the playlist-shedule ‘tight’ regime kept the DJs from playin the other tracks, but NOT from ‘ruining’ the cds/cdrs by playing the couple of hits which were also included?[/quote:2irgxrxl]
If there were some hits included on this McClusky thingy, I would agree. But there aren’t any hits. It’s Smashing Pumpkins b-sides and live tracks all over on this "promotional" cd. What’s the use of putting 100% songs on a promotional cd, that radio stations aren’t even allowed to play when they receive it? Anyway, I can live with this little discrepancy in his story. My guts feeling says it’s a genuine release anyway (this type of cd reminds me of your German Machina II promo cd, being a gift for business relatives of Virgin), but I would still laugh my ass off when this McClusky cd is a hoax/boot. It would be a boot welldone!Keep you posted of course, I just resend the email to 2 other McClusky email addresses… The other one seems dead…
[/quote:2irgxrxl]
not exactly what i meant to say—
a live ‘hit’ song "coul" be played on the air-
the rest is kinda dubious yes-however-
i’d love to know more about this company
SvenSpectatorThis item is curious. I too, saw the Ebay auction and did look up the McClusky’s website. However, there were a few things that really cautioned me from bidding:
a) The picture of the CD. Ok, as the story states, this is one of the largest music promotion companies in the US and that is the best they can do for a CD? I sure as hell wouldn’t want them promoting my band with that type of shoddy production.
b) The tracklisting. So this was released in the late 90’s, but yet really only features tracks from the MCIS singles that came in the AFH boxset. So they couldn’t have released anything form the Gish/Siamese/Adore era’s?? That just doesn’t make sense.
c) The Cheap Trick track. Why would a promotion company, promote another band, instead of their main client? It’d be one thing if you wanted to include a COVER (e.g. Never Let me Down, Landslide, etc.), but to inlcude a "live" track with another band? That just doesn’t make sense at all.
d) The 1st appearance. As collector’s, we’ve pretty much seen everything. I find it odd that this is the first time that we’ve seen/heard of this CD. You’d think that at least a few copies would have been on sale prior to this. Plus, have we seen any other McClusky CDs on Ebay for some of the other artists they promote??
I really hope this CD is the real deal, but there were just too many red flags for me to bid.[/quote:3npctkw8]
i tend to agree with Shawn here-
and with Bram-upon recieving this cd-
please make a proper transfer of some of the live tracks-
i don’t have the time left-
but I am sure Bram will be able to match these recordings up with existing ones out there-if this TRUELY contains SBD or pre-FM or whatever HI-quality takes of these live-tracks this is one HELL of a CHEAPO gem!
if not > nothing lost!
then > i’d like to know more about this rather ‘obscure’ company active in some kind of ‘promotion’ with cds which – to be true and honest (i’ve done some radio-work and still sometimes assist here and there in the field) would like be ‘nice’ to hear when presented with the promotional cd, but would indeed kindalike NEVER make it to radio…
so > what’s the promotional perk there for The Smashing Pumpkins and the other bands mentioned?
plus > when you work for these hi-profile acts: wouldn’t WE kinda expect a more hi-profile status/tenure/site/presence/profile online for this company?as per now >
– you didn’t pay a lot of dough-
– if this is legit; you have a steal in your hands!-
– if it’s nothing special as per the live-tracks (or even worse: if these turn out to be mp3-sourced!)-
– let’s team up and put some effort into checking out this ‘company’-
– "maybe" i can be of "some" help in forwarding a question or two towards the band, just to make truely sure, but only after we’ve done our own ‘home work’ and ‘ground work’ in research, ok?damn!
this IS a curious ‘releases’!!!!
damn!
collecting The Smashing Pumpkins just never ceases to amaze me!!!so >
thnx Arthur! and please keep us all updated and posted!!!
SvenSpectatori fear this only indicates that the band had very little to do with this compilation, and that the live tracks didn’t come from them either.[/quote:3091wg1x]
Makes sense, yes. There was 1 thing however, that I found very peculiar in the seller’s story, to say the least, that was: "and usually SO RUINED by DJs playing songs off of them on the air" and on the other hand: "but tight formats didn’t allow the broadcasting of unfamiliar album tracks and b-sides, therefore the disc went right into the station’s library."[/quote:3091wg1x]
well Arthur-
DOES make SOME sense, doesn’t it?!
???? –
1- the inclusion of say: 1979 and BWBW warrants the ‘playing to death’ of these cds/cdrs…
2- the playlist-shedule ‘tight’ regime kept the DJs from playin the other tracks, but NOT from ‘ruining’ the cds/cdrs by playing the couple of hits which were also included?
SvenSpectatorPersonally, I kinda like having all the colors together under one release, as it makes it easier to compare.[/quote:36mmiy4m]
agreed-
as long as we not quite sure as per the pressing stuff-
just put ALL colours in a ‘rainbow’ gallery below one single entry
SvenSpectatori think it’s beautiful-
however: just curious-
are there any other ‘venue’ posters for the Arsing tour???
this one is a quite nice design-
however: the GLICEE print technique kinda puts me off-
a true one would have been lithographed I guess.
dunno-
seems kinda fishy to me-or am I just too sceptical???
SvenSpectatoralso-
i am lefthanded – BC = too-
remember: signing as a leftie is quite another thing-
some ‘movements’ you just can’t make or just DO make!!!!
therefore- a fake BC (duh- as there are more right-handed people than left-handed, there are bound to be more right-handed ‘fakers’…) is quite easy to spot if you know what’s possible to do for a leftie -
