I’m a little late to the party but I currently can’t afford the deluxe box set either. Can’t wait until I do. I will wait until I am working again. I have some gift cards but not enough to cover the cost.

Act IV is donating some digital EPs and copy of Ghost Children 2 for the trivia portion of the night though :).

I would be willing to Paypal someone the cost of the vinyl/shirt and the shipping if they can find it. It’s kind of strange that a couple of people were able to find it yesterday and I heard from one person in Detroit that they found it today. But it sounds like each store is indeed only getting 3 copies each but most stores aren’t carrying it yet.

We called some more stores in California again. The one in Northridge, California (in the San Fernando Valley) said there was none in stock at any target in a 50 mile radius, that includes the LA area and Ventura County. They said to call back Tuesday. I have read that someone in Columbus, OH also couldn’t find any in all of Columbus.

According to a fan who couldn’t find it in Columbus on the O-Boards, ask Target to look up the following product code if they say don’t know anything about it: 012170217

Has anyone actually called Target regarding this release? My gf is from LA and she still has friends there that could get us a copy, so I have been trying to call stores in the LA area. I called a few the other day and they had no idea what I was talking about. One guy was so confused he suggested I speak to the seasonal department, think I was talking about actual Pumpkins or decorations lol.

The other day, the West Hollywood store claimed they weren’t getting it and I should call back Tuesday. Well we called back today instead and they informed us that Target stores never got vinyl, that they would have thought that sort of thing would be online only. So I don’t know what’s going on.

Would the original poster be able to give us more insights into this?[/quote:3qru5tq7]

i heard all of this tonight, david.

"we don’t have that" – yeah you do
"we don’t carry vinyl" – yeah you do
"have you tried bestbuy or walmart?" – it’s a target exclusive
    "you mean oceania?" – no
"let me check my list here…" – it’s not on there
"i’ll check in the back, but…"

walks out with 3 everytime. you had to be EXTREMELY persistent tonight. tomorrow, i’m sure they will be all over the shelves. each location (i visited 3) only had 3 MAX. the last one only had one. so if you want one tomorrow, go early.

secondly, this doesn’t mean more aren’t coming in. but with only 3, i don’t know man, seems pretty limited. i was able to get 6 copies plus one for myself, as promised. more information to be dispatched on monday regarding payment/shipping.

all copies i have come with a L/XL shirt. no variables.[/quote:3qru5tq7]
That’s ridiculous that they wouldn’t know that even with it in their own store. I surely hope there is more than 3 copies per store. What area were you buying these in? I thought it was being sold Sunday but you are the second person I have read that has purchased it on Saturday.

I have a few people in LA that will be on the look for it on my gf and I’s behalf. I am wondering if I should contact people in other regions that I know to try to look too.

Recently, Nameless Entity Media’s Jyn and her co-host, Bratley had me on their show, Chicago Underground. I talked about the contest, some background on the winners (and where to find their original music), the Ghost Children/Machines of God EP, Make-A-Wish and more. I actually felt like I talked too long, hopefully they will have more time to play more original music from related artists in the future:
    http://soundcloud.com/jynradakovits/cuwithdavid

They are always looking for new music, so if you or anyone has music that you would like to share with the world, send them a long some song links. Then it could be played on either their show or one of the others on Nameless Entity Media.

Looks like I missed the boat :(. Hopefully by the next one, I will have been inspired to say something. I think I had tried to submit to something like this years ago, but not sure if it was ever submitted to Billy. There was called Project 33 I think that was presented or sent to him when he turned 33 too.

I don’t get that vibe at all to be honest. He’s being introspective about the songs because he has been revisiting them through the reissues. It gives people more of an insight then can be provided in the reissues themselves.

But I could be wrong, but the vibe is completely different then when I say read the Rolling Stone article around the time Machina came out, I got the distinct feeling like they were going to break up and I remember being kind of depressed after reading that article.

In case anyone missed it, the top 5 for the ‘Best New of Interpretation of A Song’ category were announced yesterday. I joined Monte on Crestfallen Radio to help him make the announcement: [url:270n7v7n]http://crestfallen.com/2012/03/06/crestfallen-radio-podcast-announcement-of-the-nominees-for-best-new-interpretation-of-a-song/[/url:270n7v7n]

We narrowed down the field of entries to 5 that we thought reflected the best of that category. Now, Billy Corgan will review those 5 songs and choose a winner. Meanwhile, the selection committee is currently busy at work to determine the winner of the ‘Best Cover Song’ category.

Remember, that you can still vote for the ‘Fan Favorite Cover’ selection. Please listen to all the entries before choosing your favorite, as you only get one vote! You have until March 16th at 7 PM Eastern Time to vote: [url:270n7v7n]http://thepumpkins.net/contests/78-sp-the-early-years-cover-song-contest[/url:270n7v7n]

Haha, you’re the master Bram :p.

Well that’s a load off. I just had a moment to try to start it now and all I had was ‘Dear Billy’. I really don’t want it to sound like an ad or something. I wanted to thank him for inspiring us and for his involvement with the contest and all that. But I don’t know if that’s any good.

😯 I would be so nervous if I knew he was judging. Not that I can play music as well as any of these people![/quote:2rgncjn9]
Yeah. We will be narrowing down for him as he doesn’t have time to listen to all the covers, but I imagine everyone is nervous to see who he picks. It’s going to be very hard to pick a favorite and very hard to narrow it down for Billy for his category.

You can now vote. Please listen to all the covers before voting. You only get one vote, so make it count: http://thepumpkins.net/contests/78-sp-t … ng-contest

I’ve been busier than I expected and I haven’t really found inspiration of what to say to him. I think to be able to get anything to you by March 1st, I would have to do it by courier. But I don’t think I can send something express to a PO Box :(.

There is a lot of covers to choose from and soon you guys will have your chance to vote for the fan favorite selection. We are going to announce the winners hopefully on Billy’s birthday.

In other news, we have some big news to report: Billy Corgan will be a judge for the SP Early Years Cover Song Contest for a new category called \"Best New Interpretation of a Song\". You can read more details here:

Good suggestions so far. Anyway to improve the navigation in the message board for easier navigation between the different subsections. For example instead of simply arrows and double arrows, have the different subheadings like other message boards sometimes have. For example, the official SP boards have a layout like this: The Smashing Pumpkins Forum> The Smashing Pumpkins Message Boards> The Smashing Pumpkins Discussion

    when was jupiter’s lament written?[/quote:2lf0s0tp]
The demo was part of the early Mellon Collie Demos in 1994. The contest covers everything before that, not including it. "Jupiter’s Lament" is fair game if we do a Mellon Collie era contest.

The latest additions to the contest are covers of "Today" (an instrumental piano rendition), "Plume", and "Glynis".

If you’re interested in submitting, you have until February 21st! That’s 6 days away. Good luck to everyone who has submitted and will submit!
