ArthurSpectatori will check all my sd vinyls and let you know about the matrix codes. (i think they are all the same, but i’ll check again and confirm.)[/quote:3pztkzhm]
Jeroen, as you still have the 8 copies we scanned last Saturday, could you please do the same? Thanks.Sven, am I correct when I state that a "different pressing" should have different matrix codes and a "different press run" is (most likely) divided by the color schemes when it comes to organizing the Siamese Dream vinyl?
In that case I would suggest the following 6 press runs for Siamese Dream (just like Cool As Ice Dream did before):
-Red
-(Dark) Purple
-Pink
-Peach
-Orange
-BlackIs this a workable categorization to you all vinyl owners? In the end I want to put this in the SPfreaks Collection as 6 different item uploads, hopefully all with good examples (scans) of this colored vinyl.
And another question to you all (presuming that first record 1 is being pressed in a certain quantity, then the moulds get changed and then record 2 is being pressed, the reason why so many colorvariations can appear in the same sleeve), does this colorvariation within the same sleeve add to the collectors value of the vinyl, or not? Take for example row 6 last 4 pics (the spine close ups of the "maroon" vinyl, from an American collector) on http://www.spfreaks.com/Default.aspx?pa … &item=1102 ? In my humble opinion it doesn’t, but again, I’m no vinyl collector. I would probably pay a bit higher price for 2 records that have (almost) exactly the same color(-variation), but how do you deal with this matter? Just curious.

ArthurSpectatorso basically, you consider one colour "one pressing"?[/quote:3obvc953]
I don’t do that, SPFC does. When you read closely my posts up here, you would have read that I even assumed it’s all 1 pressing while some people performed a color frenzy over the days in the pressing plant.2007.09.30 at 4:53 pm in reply to: Siamese Dream colored vinyl; 3 pressings or more? ArthurSpectatorI very much agree on your colorschemes Cool As Ice Cream. But when it was to me (besides the pressing info) I would distinct the following colors (at least!) for this release.
-yellowish peach
-peach
-light orange
-orange
-light salmon
-salmon
-pink
-light red
-red
-darker red (your red/maroonish version)
-purple
-dark purple
-black(Almost) all of them might come in 3 versions: unmarbled, slightly marbled or heavily marbled (with 1 color or with multiple colors). Another type of distinction: see-through vinyl or non-see-through vinyl.
Just my 2 cents on this subject (while I’m no vinyl collector, ahem…).
Update, I forgot pink…

ArthurSpectatorWhat we are discussing is this (from SPFC.org):
\"1st press: Unknown pressing quantity on purple/maroon vinyl
2nd press: Unknown pressing quantity on peach/pink/light-red vinyl
3rd press: Unknown pressing quantity on orange vinyl.
4th press: Unknown pressing quantity on black vinyl. \"This info is copied from Dave Asselin’s discography if I’m right. And with respect to this guy, but when I look at all the colors, I’m very doubtful about this pressing info. Let’s say, once again I’m putting older research to the test.

ArthurSpectatorHere you go Arthur, my first post
[/quote:11l7ear3]
Welcome Jeroen, I’m proud of you my son!Based on some reactions I got by email about this post, I reorganised the pics on SPfreaks from lighter colors to darker colors (good idea, thanks Sven!). I have numbered the pics in a way that makes it easy to upload extra full scans in the future, from other owners.
And to answer a question about a slideshow tool: no, it is not implemented yet, however it is on the list of things to do of RedWolf the developer.
And when I look closely to your pics Cool As Ice Cream, I notice at least 2 other color variations, marbled pink and (unmarbled?) red! When you manage to make full scans someday, it would be pretty cool to put them between the others for comparison. And that black version too of course. Pretty cool discovery that is!
ArthurSpectatorah i just remembered… dimebag darrel
that was a seriosuly unhealthy obsession…
lets hope that it never goes that far[/quote:3sncvnrn]
I don’t know that story? Tell us please?2007.09.30 at 10:25 am in reply to: Siamese Dream colored vinyl; 3 pressings or more? You judge. #3747
ArthurSpectatorI guess you’re right about that, it makes sense. I also wonder what distincts 1 pressing from the other. The time between them? The color? The releasenumber?
What we do know so far (correct me if I’m wrong guys, I’m no vinyl specialist myself either) is the following.
-1 matrixnumber on all colors, being \"CAROL-1740-1-A S-27899 MASTERDISK\" (and 1-B, 1-C & 1-D etc. of course)
-1 releasenumber for all of them
-3 different moments they surfaced on the market. As the maroon was first, then the peach and then the orange, it was for good reasons being assumed that those were the 3 pressings. For the moment I cannot tell in what timeframes the 3 different colors appeared on the market, if there were weeks or months inbetween. I do hope other collectors can tell. To me it looks like they could have done it in 1 pressing also, over several days maybe, and going crazy mixing the colors in the pressing plant.
ArthurSpectatorGood news SPfreaks. After a loooong day of hard work I can announce that lots of vinyl is being scanned and will be uploaded shortly. Here is a first example.

I will soon get back to you with more, as there are some surprises too.
ArthurSpectatorVG double owned by zenunderground. Can’t wait to see your next moves.
ArthurSpectatorYeah… and here are my last 3 for this section. I have all those videos I showed here on my pc, and altogether they are my uhmmm… pretty messed up indie personality? Whatever. They just move me in a certain sense, make me laugh or tell (parts of) my story. Not in any way the Smashing Pumpkins do, they tell it all of course. Here you go.

Survived them? Your turn again
ArthurSpectatorGreat additions everybody! Cool! This place is going to look like a sister website of YouTube!
I want to bring in another video if you don’t mind. I wanted to do that before, but it has such a different mood, it just wouldn’t fit The Kills. This other song is haunting, the music gives me the shivers, the story is ugly & the video just says it all. Beatiful in a horrible way. I hope none of you has ever been in this situation, it might break your heart again. Prepare for Xiu Xiu with the song \"Pox\".

ArthurSpectatorthe studio notes look like a record of what tracks have been recorded to what songs at some point during the recording session..[/quote:z1oe63no]
Hey, a cool (or hot, whatever you like) welcome to you also zenunderground! We hope you’re gonna have fun here and stick around a bit more! And you’re right about that notes, and we also heard there is a cassette that has the Hippy Trippy track labeled on it, we can’t wait to see that being leaked… Hmmm… Would be awesome!
ArthurSpectatorThe article said there were 3800 people in attendance (not a HUGE show) which leaves me wondering if he could have died some way other than moshing?[/quote:w678je3i]
Cool As Ice Cream answers that question already with his link. Behing that link it says:"just to let you all know, he wasn’t crowd surfing, moshing, doing anything stupid. He was simply on the floor watching the concert, and had a freak seizure and his heart stopped. He had no history of epilepsy, and we had gone to tons of concerts before, so it was just some freak of nature seizure thing that decided to happen at that concert and not some other…"
This is probably said by 1 of his friends that attended the Vancouver show also.
ArthurSpectatorHahaha ok then! I was figuring out something like Sergeant (sarg-ten something)… Thanks!
ArthurSpectatorHi s3rg10.sp.4evr (what-a-funny-name!) welcome here man, thanks for this pretty comprehensive update! Well, I’m not religious at all, but I will pray for all of you in South America that the Smashing Pumpkins will visit your countries. We in Europe and US and a bit of Canada and Scandinavia had our fair bits of rock, now it’s your turn. Next stops hopefully Asia and Australia… See you around s3rg10.sp.4evr!
(Superlordspamulon, you’re good in these newish languages, what does s3rg10.sp.4evr mean? I can figure out SP forever, but that first part… uhmmm… no idea
)
ArthurSpectatorMeanwhile the band speaks.
\"The Smashing Pumpkins were deeply saddened to learn about the passing of a young man who attended their Vancouver show Monday night (September 24). As they and everyone else await news from the investigation into the nature of his passing, the band want to express their sincerest condolences to his family and friends.\"
For me the scariest moments at a concert are when people from the back start pushing to reach the front. Or when they want to enter the moshpit, which is a fenced area just before the stage. When me and my girlfriend entered the moshpit at the Pinkpop gig to see the Pumpkins from close by (not to mosh
) I kept close to her and we hold hands all the time, except for a few seconds when the pushing made us loose each other. Later on she told me she was very afraid to fell on the ground and being stepped on. Luckily it didn’t happen and we had fun \\m/ \\m/ anyway, and the people moshing were not all over the mosh pit area. But when they are, you can do nothing. Though I’m a tall (1.99 m) and big, strong guy of almost 100 kg, there’s nothing you can do against 100’s of people going crazy. My advantage is only that I can look over the people and check for a \"safer\" place. And when I was younger I did my fair part of moshing also… Though I was always afraid of loosing my
hahaha!
You know when I watch tv for me the moshpit area looks like fun when people jump around and go crazy and do crowdsurfing. But then you don’t see the few individuals that are bothered, get hurt or even injured. Like Sven says, some are close to fainting (and always a few do is my experience), lilkitn reminds us of the people that are small (like my girlfriend) and they can’t even predict where the frenzy will come from or can’t breathe properly. Anyway, I have very mixed feelings about moshing since a long while, and I even stopped attending the huge festivals. Because when I go see the Pumpkins, I always want to see them from close by. But that’s where the danger is also…
ArthurSpectatorFound more. Tons of cartoons are here:
ArthurSpectatorI wonder if the younger fans know about the Dublin incident in 1996, so here is some info about it from SPFC’s Listessa. It pretty much covers everything in a few very readable pieces. The same is happening right now, though the circumstances are not exactly clear (yet). It’s pretty sad anyway, and I like to wish everybody involved strength, wisdom and solidarity. We are with you people!
ArthurSpectatorWow, I’m flabbergasted & silent. What a weird coincidence that just a few days after releasing the 1996 Point Dublin (Ireland) show (we all know what I mean here, and what happened there) on sp.com, this had to happen. I really wonder how the band takes it.
ArthurSpectatorOk, the girl is officially a nut-job…[/quote:252j9uha]
By the way, i’m a fan from the other side of the atlantic ocean (portugal)
So forgive me for my english when i don’t express myself correctly ok?
[/quote:252j9uha]
Hey lilkitn and Pipoka, a warm welcome from all of us to you, guys, hope you’re gonna have fun on here. On behalf of everybody sailing this cozy little board: Rock on!
And Pipoka, I’m sure your english is not bothering anybody, and we are from the same side of the ocean actually. This board is hosted in The Netherlands, the members come from every continent available on planet earth however.
Stay cool.
Arthur
ArthurSpectatorForgive me for posting 2 in a row. But for obviously different reasons these videos are also very favourite to me. The horniest garage indie punky sexrock around. Whatever, they are The Kills. Watch your jeans guys.

ArthurSpectatorFor me the most touching (and I mean DEEP here) song ever is this one.
\"I gave you a tree and you did not embrace it
I gave you a nightmare and you didn’t chase it
I’d give you a dream and you’d only wake from it
Now I’ll never go to sleep again\"

By the way, this is Superwolf (Bonny Prince Billy) with the song \"I gave you\".
ArthurSpectatorfor commercial cd releases, is there only the EU 3-track cd in slim case? or have people found a 2-track version, or a version in cardsleeve?[/quote:3v9ffgpg]
Yup, nope & nope. I just got this reconfirmed from 1 of my sources. Your post reminded me to do this, as I couldn’t find them so far either…
ArthurSpectatoror you could use english
