Today I got so freakin’ mad at the slow speed of my WD 1TB external disk, that I wanted to smash it to the wall. Instead I kept calm, otherwise I would have lost almost 600 GB on Smashing Pumpkins music and DVDs… And I bought something really REALLY good. I hope. It better be good, goddamn.

\"OCEANIA coming soon to a venue near you Manilla, Taipei, Seoul. MEXICO, CANADA, USA, SOUTH AMERICA, EUROPE, MARS\"

This is, however, the last time we will ever see them. Mars is far away, and an unfriendly place, health-wise.

 So you know Eiki too, huh!

But if you bought it from him, then either his auction information was not right, or he corrected it later to me when I asked him about the Pisces Iscariot box from Japan. He (also, like my other source I just quoted) mentioned to me that it was not a Japanese product:

    Hello again Artur,
I am sorry I can not inform you the certain things,
because no bar code and no any information about the product place on the case and sticker,
Anyway it is NOT japan products.
    Thank you,
    eiki[/quote:3sc9pa2p]
The Japanese booklet is probably at the back, or inside the box. But this is definately not an obi*, and calling it an obi sticker makes not much sense!

    * (from wikipedia) \"The term is also used for a strip that is looped over one side (usually on the left) or folded over the top of LP albums released in Japan, and folded over the left side of music CDs, video games, Laserdiscs, or DVDs. This is also called tasuki. Obi are unique to Japan** and are used to provide the title of the product, track listings (if applicable), price, catalog number and information on related releases in Japanese. It is used by the consumer to determine what is included in the album or book, and the store can use the information for ordering. Obi are sometimes used on boxes for collectible toys and figures. Products with an obi have become popular with some collectors, as products with the obi intact can fetch premium prices, and are collectible items in their own right. A record or CD with an intact obi is worth more than the same item without.\"

** not true, I think.

Really nice article about obi strips here:

This is what I heard when I asked about the Japanese Pisces Iscariot reissue.

The standard CD is Japanese, the box set is not (it says on the sticker on the front ‘imported contents’). However even promo issues of boxes like this will have the promo sticker INSIDE the shrinkwrap – there is usually an extra layer of shrinkwrap, to hold the Japanese booklet in place, and the sticker is added at the same time as the booklet – before the item is sealed.[/quote:1oji413e]
A promo deluxe box for Pisces Iscariot is not found anywhere (yet), not by me anyway!

Do you have a pic to show of the Japanese box?

The sticker is pressed in Japan, the box is US import, as far as I know. At least it was not manufactured in Japan, that is what my source told me yesterday. I compare it with the EU pressing of Oceania with a French sticker. Always cool, but no reason to pay big bucks. So I had put it at the lower end of my wish list.

    15. There It Goes (demo)
    – starts almost as (minimal) techno
    – levels are WAY TOO HIGH up!!!! in this new mix; it’s new wave-apres-la-lettre…!!! yeah, thus”: one could do this mix, BUT: keep it ‘wave’, please
    – in way: much too hard (sounding) for the time
    – poor JC… he’s the metronome and some instants he can show his skill[/quote:e2x4rbh9]
But is it the Mashed Potatoes version, it is, isn’t it? The liner notes of the Pisces Iscariot deluxe reissue state that it was recorded at River North, Chicago in 1988. Or is/was that Billy’s father home studio?

    http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=TOURHISTO … locid=1048

And SPFC adds them all together for 1988:

    12. Translucent
    – same as on MP only better quality[/quote:4u1pzjuo]
The liner notes in the deluxe box booklet tell us that it was recorded at Sadlands, Winter 1992. Billy Corgan wrote 1990 on Mashed Potatoes. Billy is not always that good with dating his legacy (remember his slip of the tongue with the song Bleed at the Oceania cruise a little while back), so yeah… Another BC typo found on Mashed Potatoes…

Westwood One July 1996 radio show cd \"On The Edge\" for US$ 5.95, with Smashing Pumpkins special: ‘Disarm’, ‘Tonight, Tonight’, ‘Thirty-Three’, ‘Beautiful’, ‘Cherub Rock’ and ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’ were on the playlist. Not on SPfreaks yet… I just love to find such rarities especially when they come for almost nothing. :P

On a sidenote, and I might be very wrong with this prediction, but I think there will be a time in the future that those radio cds are highly valued and quite valueable. Don’t know why, just a guts feeling.

is there more discussion online about this than just these Dutch-speaking "freaks"… :)[/quote:3bsuo57r]
Nobody buys this sh*t in the US and elsewhere, unless this release gets your stamp of approval, Sven…

Kidding of course, but the Dutch have always been fans of Pisces Iscariot, it had a Dutch pressing even! I still remember getting it as a present from a friend from France, when we were in Paris in 1995. Even there the music store (FNAC, if I remember well) had the Dutch pressing in the shelves!

I’m still awaiting my Pisces Iscariot reissue deluxe package, however. It has to be delivered from the US I’m sure, since it will contain the ‘limited’ demo tape shirt. After that I will join the discussion, I’m sure. :)
