I got Samuel L. Jackson as my #1 lookalike? And Catherine Deneuve & Diane Keaton as #8 and #10?

Chester Bennington and Kevin Mitnick (whoever they are), I can imagine this game finds them.

First update since a lot happened this week.

Managed to talk to a radio DJ that interviewed the band/Billy Corgan several times:

1991 Ein Abend In Wien Festival, in the hotel where the band stayed
1993 At the VPRO sessions in June, when they played Dancing In The Moonlight (D’Arcy asked if she could change clothes with her, which she refused! )
1998 backstage Pinkpop Festival, when Billy was acting very childish and stupid, which she blamed him for…

Also spoke with 1 of the initiators of the Ein Abend In Wien Festival (the first gig SP played outside US/Canada). He provided me with tons of scans of Festival material, that indicates in which hotel + room numbers the band stayed with their manager Andy Gershon and engineer Tom Fabjance, which bus they took to the airport etc. Also a lot of newspaper articles about the Festival where SP is mentioned. Next to that, I managed to find the promotional CD \"Ein Abend In Wien\" that was released just before the Festival, but SP is not on it.

The Doornroosje Nijmegen gig turned out to be a myth, created by some people of the venue. There is mentioned on several places that SP played in Doornroosje \"before they were a wellknown band\", but I talked to 3 different people (2 ex-employees, 1 current employee, amongst them the music programmer of the 1980-1990 era) and ALL of them admit that it is a mistake, or mixup with another SP gig in another venue (most probably Effenaar Eindhoven), that was promoted in the Doornroosje programme book. Luckily, the SP-gig-that-never-happened-after-all was not mentioned in the Doornroosje 40 Years Anniversary Book that was released last year. But the Dutch Wikipedia ( http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doornroosje_(Nijmegen) ) and several news pages ( http://www.podiuminfo.nl/news/10057/Doo … Jaar_2010/ ), still mention it. Myth busted!

On a sidenote, Billy did not make many friends in Holland in the early days. I talked to many people so far, and quite a few of them remember him as a \"nasty and ego\" guy, so to say.

    Keep you posted.

Jakob is pretty cool indeed. 8)

Last night I went to a concert of Iron Maiden in Gelredome, Arnhem. Quite funny, to relive my old metal party days.

This is where they bring on 1 of their stage features. I found the 4 meter alien that played guitar during 1 of the songs even more funny, but I couldn’t find it on youtube yet. Anyway, enjoy!

Wow, that’s a funny cassette! @CAIC, yes it came from SLCD, Mark had it already a long time, but I always found it a little overpriced. I don’t know the old price, but now it looked OK to me, and with the exchange rates these days it’s even a very good price I think, for such a special item.

i’ve never heard of a broadcast that long. it’s an awesome setlist, for sure. wish i tuned in for that one. i know they do album premieres all the time for many, many bands. but they are usually a couple of hours or so, not 6.[/quote:33qdb33z]
Yeah, exactly, same thoughts. Interested in a copy (set of MP3 files)?

Billy’s alternate account on Spitter. I’m the only other member, with a link to him. :P

No seriously, just a set of fantasy titles, made up by the undersigned. Look at the original track titles, and you will know how I came to this set of new titles… For example, Special K also stands for Ketamine drugs. The Chimera is an animal from the Greek mythology, often found on ancient Greek Apulian plates. Quasar is a wheel brand. Now go figure out the rest!

Wow! Not a collector anymore, chr_loyche?

I would be interested in the Stand Inside Your Love Swedish promo, and the Still Becoming Apart Canada promo. Can you confirm they are from Sweden (same sticker) and Canada (Virgin Canada logo on the CD)? Thanks, and good luck selling. I noticed quite a few of your items for sale are wanted by other collectors.

    That’s… cheap! 8)

And call me crazy, because I never thought I would fall for a signature, but this one is VERY special. To me that is. Because of what it stands for as a total. It’s the Today 1 track promo, signed in the year of release by Billy & D’Arcy and by Yingy & Magda, the girls in the picture of this iconic 1993 single of the Smashing Pumpkins. I think it is the most awesome Smashing Pumpkins-related signature set ever seen, and the price was good too (125 bucks, that is 85 Euro, almost a laughter, because of the exchange rates these days… ).

Of course, James and Jimmy could have been on it too with their autographs, but again, I don’t care about signatures so much. It’s the total package of iconic song, promo item, signed in the year of release + 2 extra signatures of the girls on the artwork. I’m happy, and will definately frame it! :D

Awful. I’m so much against this, everytime when I see an animal or a person being beat up, I get a shock. I always have to keep myself from getting involved and not starting to beat up the bastards that do such things…

Made an appointment with 1 of Billy Corgan’s friends from LA who is visiting Belgium next month…

Actually, it’s going to be a pure business meeting for the company I work for, but I’m sure we will have some Smashing Pumpkins topics to discuss also. And meanwhile he will \"poke Billy about Arthur from SPfreaks.com\" and will give him my warm regards anyway. 8)

Yup, you’re right. I now get the feeling I’m hyping up something that is not very interesting after all… :?
