Hello everybody!
It’s been a while I know.So we got "being beige" as a first single. Very surprising choice isn’t it? I must admit I was a bit bewildered during my first listening.
A big buzz around Tommy Lee and the first single released is a pop one with a drum machine that can clearly be heard since the very beginning of the song.
Billy said this opus would be focused on guitars but the guitar arpeggios are quite often overwhelmed by the keyboard.
I’m still too puzzled to determine wether the song is good or not. Ask me later

i’m not really sure. i didn’t major in or study marketing, but with a label pushing your product, there is more money to get the word out and advertise.
i mean, i don’t think the song is as horrible as you find it to be. i’ll listen to it later. but, i am definitely confused by it being the lead-off single, what with all the tommy lee talk. tommy lee is drumming on that song? um, where?
seems like a nice rocker would have been more satisfying. only because of the hype though. if there was no talk, i’d have no expectations and wouldn’t be so confused.
yeah, i kind of think these aren’t $100 rare, only because they are marketed by, BMG? or whoever. as opposed to the teargarden promos that were marketed by rocketscience? and martha’s music? i can’t remember this shit anymore.
point is, more $ behind it. i’d expect a bunch more, but i guess we’ll see.
i found it somewhat disappointing that their own twitter account tweeted a link to their new song and less than 300 people retweeted/favorited ALL DAY. that’s pretty bad considering julian casablancas tweeted something about redbull being cocaine and it was retweeted/favorited like 800 times in a matter of minutes. someone has to get on this marketing horse. whomever is in charge is failing the music horribly.
yeah, it’s certainly a song i listened to twice. was pretty excited and after the first listen i was like, well, this is teargarden.
HOWEVER, i really like how teargarden flowed when all the tracks were listened to together, so i’m just shelving the song until the album comes out. unless i hear it on the radio, which will simply not happen. so there’s that.
no idea bram. i only bought the vinyl (US) so far. saw the US box and CD as well. i’ll keep looking.

the original being dated ’89 and this one ’90. so basically, it’s the SINGULAR tape that was given to columbia records and convinced this person to sign them, but the timing was too late. pretty cool!
i have a similar deftones demo tape that was given to virgin records (they signed to maverick).

Is it the quality of the pic, or is indeed the vinyl from the gold obelisk copy a very different color? I mean, marbled blue-ish vs marbled white-ish? Otherwise we should update this entry, which is currently provided with pics of the standard release with some pics of the gold obelisk added:

first pressing (double LP): 50 copies on acqua vinyl, 200 copies on black vinyl, signed and numbered (acqua: 1-50; black: 51-250).
