    Hey bullet etc., welcome here.

Still they are not saying they will keep on releasing on the CD platform. I would hate to only have downloadable files (which are in lower quality also these days). Next to CD, fine, but not digital-only please.

I would never be able again to show off with my Smashing Pumpkins music collection, can you imagine?

 (<= Arthur, ex-collector, still huge fan of the music, but in need of a therapy)[/quote:1kuiuy58]

    I know what you mean.

CDs and other hard copies of music are awesome… but digital? No.

What’s more impressive? "Check it out – 378 CDs!" or "Check it out – 98Gb of music!"

Also, viruses could screw everything up.

Let’s be honest. Warners haven’t treated them that much better in terms of artistic integrity.

But it’s still not nice to hear about (the future lies in indie labels in my opinion)[/quote:y2e4m70q]

I disagree. I think the future lies in online communities, such as ours, where word of mouth and links expose us to wonderful music. Songs/bands we like. Or a community such as Napster.

Who needs a label anymore? I mean really, you can do your own CD pressings and release what you want, when you want on the Internet. I’ve never bought a CD because it was on some fucked up label, only bought it because of the music.

    FUCK THE SYSTEM.

And yes, I was the one bitching about the iTunes release of AG. I recognize that’s where bands are heading, that doesn’t mean I like it. The whole digital thing. But as far as a band releasing their own music by themselves? I’m all for it.[/quote:y2e4m70q]

Yeah, bands releasing it by themselves is awesome. But some bands aren’t able to do that and need the backing of a label. So indie labels would be better; less stifling creatively.

Also, they probably wouldn’t release 26 versions of the same record.

We managed to capture a little chat from our logs.

[22:04] [Jimmy] Hey billy. How’s it going?

that is way too funny.[/quote:3iublk9v]

Awesome. I’ll check it out :)

That’s what it said where i got it from.

Although i cannot remember what the link was, and can’t find it…

    Ah well.[/quote:2oxbjro7]

From the website of Metro Chicago maybe? I think you can still download it from there.[/quote:2oxbjro7]

    Might be…

I think i got it from billy-corgan.com, or something related to that – and seeing as Metro Chicago is linked there…

in reply to: Machina II #8781

what do you mean?[/quote:76bhr3d6] My understanding is that the commonly circulating M2 download contains vinyl rips, but has CD versions if available (like the Rotten Apples ‘Real Love’ in place of the one from the vinyl)

in reply to: Machina II #8779

Pfft. My home burn is 4 cds (one for each ep i might add) AND i used images of the vinyl artwork for the cover AND did all the tracklisting myself with the right font AND made a lyric booklet too! that i messed up by copying the wrong version of certain lyrics a few too many times…

    Completely random outburst, but hey.

I wished the commonly circulating version of M2 had the original vinyl rips for every song…

Also, i don’t like that unofficial CD version of M2’s artwork/design. It’s too busy, too ‘loud’. Quite an eyesore in my opinion.

"And I think the next time the Pumpkins tour, you’ll see a big stage presence with eight to ten people as opposed to just five."[/quote:nxdachvw] Clowns?
    please?

in reply to: whats on your want list? #2445

I want all South African pressings. Only have like 2 now. And the Tristessa 7" test pressing, w/o signatures all over it. To me, that brings the value DOWN. lol, I know that sounds weird, but I’m a "stock condition" collector.[/quote:2xbtoukp] I know what you mean; signatures hold sentimental value for the original owner, but it’s just a lot of ink really for buyers.

    An incoming email of today…

    "Subject: MCIS bootleg!! aaaah

Thanks for the info on the bootleg vesrsion of Infinite Sadness. I just picked up a copy here in Rotterdam, Netherlands thinking I picked up an original. But turns out I got the all yellow vinyl version without the number on the front sleeve for 50 euro. It was too good to be true. I’m gonna go back and tell the guy at the record shop about this indecency.

    kind regards

    Chris Parkes"[/quote:s33rjd3t]

Meh. We’ve discussed MCIS booties. We got the message out. Off topic is the only way forward!

I reckon you’re missing out. They’re a great way to relieve stress, and just escape reality for a little bit!

    in reply to: SuperChrist #8517

it’s not the full cd, but here’s an mp3 file, a flac file, both from the fresh cuts vol. 2 cd, and the video: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=5b9b … 6a069cd505[/quote:1hln73zg]
    Thanks a bunch :D

in reply to: MCIS colour vinyl.Real or fake? #8610

I just realized – i would kill to get an authentic MCIS vinyl. Just for the artwork really… it’s so beautiful… and LARGER than the CD version.

in reply to: This forum has been really quiet #5667

Not that quiet anymore huh…[/quote:21rdhemy] I come back to my e-mail after a day of school – 10 messgaes, 8 from SPfreaks alerting me to forum posts?
    Hell yeah…

    in reply to: SuperChrist #8514

hey, toad32r, would you mind uplaoding mp3’s of SC from the CD please? I’ve only got a low quality version i ripped from the video, and no access to fresh cuts 2. Seeing as the CD is free, it shouldn’t be a problem

Maybe its cause I’m a fan of the more conceptual videos (ala Tonight, Tonight).[/quote:36spab13]
    Me too :)

in reply to: MCIS colour vinyl.Real or fake? #8603

Dammit, should have thought of this sooner.
Put a little extra at the end of the MCIS BL warning stating (something along the lines of) \"If you have any queries or uncertainties about other items that you suspect are bootlegs, please contact us blah blah blah\"
Seeing as you guys are the resident experts on SP items, you would be the most able to clear things up, methinks.
But then again… most information is available in the collection, so they could (should) go there first before contacting…
I don’t know. Do what you want with this idea.

in reply to: New Smashing Pumpkin’s video? #8496

Purely from the studio version, there is no time as i can make out.
So i don’t think that it should necessarily be included. (Unless Aaaah is actually tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime)
