ArthurSpectatorI still want this item, but I’m more interested in a pristine version, you know… good luck selling it!
ArthurSpectatorWhat’s up with the Machina 2xLP? Seeing that the price of it has risen to ridiculous proportions on eBay?[/quote:o2keacwk]
You mean the 2 prices of 70+ bucks? Or did you see them even go higher maybe?
ArthurSpectatorDid anyone receive this message a few days ago? Put here because of the Jay Leno date.

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS will release \"Astral Planes,\" the fourth track of their epic 44-song TEARGARDEN BY KALEIDYSCOPE project, this Friday, April 16 via the independent Amoeba Records’ website.
The swirling, psychedelicized song will first be available for free download on http://www.amoeba.com (in the left-hand corner under \"Breaking News\") and then, later that day, available for free download via http://www.smashingpumpkins.com along with three previously released tracks: \"A Stitch In Time,\" \"Widow Wake My Mind\" and \"A Song For A Son.\" The site also offers a widget enabling fans to host the songs anywhere on the web.
\"Astral Planes\" is the final song to be issued for TEARGARDEN BY KALEIDYSCOPE VOL.1: SONG FOR A SAILOR, the first of the eventual 11 EPs to be sold in record stores. TEARGARDEN BY KALEIDYSCOPE VOL. 1: SONGS FOR A SAILOR is set for official release on May 25th thru Martha’s Music / Rocket Science Ventures. This very limited edition collector’s EP will be packaged in a beautiful collector’s silk-screened wooden box. Each box will contain a 4-song CD, a vinyl 7\" and a hand-carved obelisk.
The release of \"Astral Planes\" comes one day before Record Store Day, which the band will celebrate with a free performance in Los Angeles. The first 250 fans who pre-order the Teargarden⦠EP on Saturday, April 17, will receive the limited edition black light poster as well as a wristband giving them entry into The Smashing Pumpkins performance from Amoeba and Urban Outfitters Space 15 Twenty later that day. While in Los Angeles, The Smashing Pumpkins will perform \"Widow Wake My Mind\" on NBC’s \"Tonight Show with Jay Leno\" Tuesday, April 20.
ArthurSpectatoryou also have to buy some pee from people who soiled their pants at the show. not worth it.[/quote:c20rhsx0]
Oh yes, I know what you mean. Seller raised the price of the auction for the Teargarden box only with 50% (from buy it now 99 to 149) when we were talking, so I’m not interested anymore. I was hoping he would do the total package with poster and etc. for the old price, then it would have been kinda fair. Now I’ll buy the 30 bucks version, and it will look exactly the same as this one! nya nya nya!
ArthurSpectatorSeller just send me more answers… The total promo/limited package for Los Angeles (where they played) is a red wristband with Smashing Pumpkins and Record Store Day on it, the limited 7\" vinyl, the promo poster, AND the Teargarden vinyl/cd/obelisk package that is supposed to be released on May 25. I’m now checking if I can buy that whole set from him for a nice price, would be cool I guess. Otherwise, nevermind…
ArthurSpectatorGood to see Jeff’s still here![/quote:22gs5os6]
I noticed him too, cool huh!
ArthurSpectatorThis is what the seller answered to me first, but I’m awaiting answers to my second set of questions…
\"Sorry for the misunderstanding. This might be the same version that will be released on May 25th, but only 250 were made available prior to that date at the exclusive SP show on record store day.\"
ArthurSpectatorI’m not really interested in vinyl, so in no way I’m going to compete with you vinyl collecting guys…
But it’s a cool item, that’s for sure! And a really nice surprise from Mr Corgan!
I found a CD/vinyl/obelisk pre-release however, also connected to Record Store Day, and limited to 250 also. I’m a bit doubtful about it, so I asked the seller first. Hopefully noone grabs it before I got my answer…
ArthurSpectatorDoes anybody know if it got recorded? Wanna listen to the show, dammit!

MonteLDS was there… So I guess that’s a yes.
ArthurSpectatorWow! Sounds very Gish-y:

Found in the comments, and I have to agree 100%."easternmind
Fuck man, anyone who says SP died back in 2000 needs to check this shit out! Fuuuuuck! This is why I’m proud to be a Smashing Pumpkins fan! Just listen to this, this song was written back in like 1989, and check out how well they perform it! Amazing! His voice is definitely back in more than one way!"
ArthurSpectatorYeah, nice surprise from the Smashing Pumpkins. This auction #230463670963 contains an extra poster with the 7\".
ArthurSpectatorAnyway, what’s the name of the band Corgan played?
I mean, you told me its name was Remove That Bible like more than 2 months ago, so you’ve planning this joke since then?Clarify please.[/quote:cebsbrtg]
I don’t know the name of that band, Sven only knows, and he’s not even telling ME!Which I can understand, because Billy Corgan is not very cooperative in clarifying about that period of his musical career. So Sven should be careful with his information. I’m hoping Sven will come with a good article about it this year.
And yes, I asked my colleague Jeroen, and Sven, what they would think of this April Fools joke about 2 months ago. Then I gave a first hint, mentioning end of March, early April, and the rest is history!
ArthurSpectatorI hope you all realize by now this Remove That Bible thingy was an April Fools joke?
Posted when it was April 1 in Australia (but still March 31 in Europe), and updated when it was still April 1 in the US?
Remove That Bible is an early 1980’s band from Rotterdam, and my colleague Jeroen Groeneweg played the bass, and recorded those songs with his mates! The compilation cd they made a few years ago for themselves and some friends was called Ancient Times… Sorry to kill you guys’ excitement, if I did…
Sven’s story-to-come is true, however, no kidding!
ArthurSpectatorMCIS triple vinyl white label promo – very excited about this one.

ArthurSpectatorhow was the open house day, arthur?[/quote:biqlywyr]
Sucked. To celebrate suckness, we went to Popa Chubby last night. He rocked our socks off! I went to buy his latest album "The Fight Is On" and he put his signature on it. Just like he did 15 years ago when I bought another album at his concert.
ArthurSpectatorAnother one went for a little over 70 bucks, and this one is Buy It Now 100 dollar: #220584193802 on eBay.
I’m patient…
ArthurSpectator…and a poster for this gig
[/quote:33ximyl6]
Nice find! I was on that website too, but only noticed the text down there, with the little tumbnail…
ArthurSpectatorNice. Someone going there?
\"Additionally, as part of the Record Store Day celebration, Rocket Science Ventures and Amoeba Records in Hollywood will present the Pumpkins’ fans with an opportunity to see an exclusive performance from the band. The first 250 fans who pre-order the Teargarden⦠EP on Saturday, April 17, will receive the limited edition black light poster as well as a wristband giving them entry into The Smashing Pumpkins performance from Amoeba and Urban Outfitters Space 15 Twenty later that day.\"
ArthurSpectatorWho knew this…
From an interview with Melissa today:
Left off the record is a collaboration with Billy Corgan, with whom Auf der Maur played bass in the ’90s band Smashing Pumpkins. âWe did do an interesting recording for it; weâll see what happens with that,\" she said. âItâs a yet-to-be released, interesting weekend in Chicago.â
ArthurSpectatorPearl Jam forum speaks positive about us.
ArthurSpectatorGood job!
All cds went straight to my wantlist.
ArthurSpectatorAre you allowed to share the pictures too?[/quote:83afxdjp]
I guess so, they are being send to Sven. He’s doing a long article about this stuff, remember? I’ve only seen them on webcam so far. And I was very eager to bring the music out there!Swish work guys, some of the tracks are actually really good.
[/quote:83afxdjp]
Agree. I was astonished to see and feel the link between this and the Marked. To see the development of Billy from a young dude playing bass (already working on long epic songs!) to him in the Smashing Pumpkins.Actually this band is called teh Flat Bodies.
Some side exerimental band. Recorded with good material[/quote:83afxdjp]
Yeah I noticed that too. If I put all the info in order, Billy was not involved with that anymore, he had moved on already. As far as Jerome remembered, Billy played at least on all songs from Dance V1 to Ancient Times. With every bandmember leaving, they changed the name of the band. So they were called The Marinetti’s, The Flat Bodies, but also The Wedding, Pand 585 and Frozen Fountain. Those other bands made tapes also, but of course we were mostly interested in this tape with Billy playing/practising/recording with this band. At that time they were called Remove That Bible (kinda ironic, when you think of it, for a bandname with Billy being a member => must be the reason why Billy never wants to talk about it?)
ArthurSpectatorAnd a little news about that Remove That Bible thingy… as far as we can judge now, it is real as hell. Quite a discovery! I am listening to the full Ancient Times tape now as we speak (MP3s of the full tape were finally send), and we spoke to Jerome Greenway, 1 of the band members at that time, several times over the webcam. He provided a few pics of him and a VERY young Billy Corgan (so cute!
) when they were friends back in the days, but no live shows pics. Jerome is a little vague about that, so I think they only did some gigs for friends, and recorded a dozen of songs here and there in a few months. Billy definately wringed the bass in that band, as far as I can judge it, and you can recognize him easily on 1 of the songs (title track of the tape: Ancient Times).
About the song Ancient Times: it has a little Dutch connection! Jerome told us he went on a holiday with his parents to Europe in the late 1970’s or early 1980’s, and this song was inspired by a dancing in Rotterdam! In another song (EO) they used samples from Dutch speaking tv personalities, but he didn’t recall how they got these recordings… probably from a vinyl with weird samples, he thinks. The MP3s are date-tagged 1980 by Jerome, but I think they might be a little later. Billy looks like he is around the age of 15 in the few pics that Jerome showed, and Billy is definately not 13 years of age. Overall, the music is telling the story, and we can clearly hear a pre-Marked era band, trying to catch the New Wave of their times in their sound.
Anyway, I will make a zip of these songs soon (we are indeed allowed to spread this!), I will bring the news frontpage SPfreaks.com of course, and then… ENJOY this new discovery from the very very vault of the Smashing Pumpkins! Hiha!
