ArthurSpectatorTHANK YOU
but I’m not changing mine[/quote:zc8zc37l]
Ow? Looks like somebody helped you change it anyway?
ArthurSpectatorIt’s best to have it all planned out.[/quote:1yesx2j4]
True. Still, be prepared for a rollercoaster of emotions and things to do and arrange, when you’re in the situation…
ArthurSpectatorI don’t know!
I think it’s just a cultural difference… when i read the topic i was like "wow! they really play songs in a funeral?![/quote:wq271ue7]
Yeah, here in Holland it’s rather standard. The whole ceremony takes about 45 minutes, up to 1 hour, and when people enter the room with the coffin, then the first song is being played. In the middle of the ceremony there is song #2, and at the end, when people slowly leave the room again, there is song #3. Around the songs there is poetry and speeches and religious crap for the people that think they have been called by their gods. All funerals I’ve been to were kinda like this. There was one that had a band playing the songs live, instead of stereo based. For example, when my Mum died last year, I picked 3 songs of the Greek singer Nana Mouskouri (in Greek language: Nάνα Μούσχουρη) for her, as she put in her will…
ArthurSpectatorhere are the danish band The Tremolo Beer Gut![/quote:3njqlwer]
Very, very nice! I love it, how they build up the tension in this song…
ArthurSpectator1- the inclusion of say: 1979 and BWBW warrants the ‘playing to death’ of these cds/cdrs…
2- the playlist-shedule ‘tight’ regime kept the DJs from playin the other tracks, but NOT from ‘ruining’ the cds/cdrs by playing the couple of hits which were also included?[/quote:1y5yycfc]
If there were some hits included on this McClusky thingy, I would agree. But there aren’t any hits. It’s Smashing Pumpkins b-sides and live tracks all over on this "promotional" cd. What’s the use of putting 100% songs on a promotional cd, that radio stations aren’t even allowed to play when they receive it? Anyway, I can live with this little discrepancy in his story. My guts feeling says it’s a genuine release anyway (this type of cd reminds me of your German Machina II promo cd, being a gift for business relatives of Virgin), but I would still laugh my ass off when this McClusky cd is a hoax/boot. It would be a boot welldone!Keep you posted of course, I just resend the email to 2 other McClusky email addresses… The other one seems dead…
ArthurSpectatorthat we rawk!

Big times! But, to put things a little in perspective again, I seperately counted the number of topics on the SP.com boards where these very same websites are mentioned, just to get an idea how "general" and "widespread" these other websites are. Not surprisingly, we are not #1 in that poll, as we are mainly mentioned in the "Live Recordings / Collecting / Trading" section of the SP.com boards.
SPFC – 83 topics
ThePumpkins.net – 81 topics
RSPAA – 57 topics
Netphoria – 54 topics
SPfreaks – 43 topics
Siva (Blamo.org) – 40 topics
SPLRA – 27 topics
InfinitePics – 23 topics
Ozphoria – 16 topics
HipstersUnited – 13 topics
Starla – 5 topics
BCIT – 2 topics
SPIFC – 1 topicOK, so far my freaky research. I like my first post about this anyway! I did not expect this outcome!
ArthurSpectatorI just did a little inquiry on SP.com on how many times the other wellknown Smashing Pumpkins websites are being discussed, mentioned and linked to on SP.com. I was a little, but very pleasantly nevertheless, surprised…
SPfreaks – 327 times
Netphoria – 230 times
ThePumpkins.net – 175 times
SPFC – 165 times
HipstersUnited – 92 times
Ozphoria – 76 times
Siva (Blamo.org) – 57 times
RSPAA – 54 times
BCIT – 33 times

SPLRA – 12 times
SPIFC – 12 timesWhat conclusion comes to mind now?
ArthurSpectatorCouldn’t help noticing that Sven’s latest article about the Smashing Pumpkins posters is one of his most read (1,373 views, and still rapidly counting…
) also. Only his If All Goes Wrong article from October 2008 (1,500+ views) and his Gossamer article from December 2008 (2,700+) had more views so far. Pretty good job, Sven! Hats off to you!
ArthurSpectatorMan! I just re-read the Archive blogs of Frank Quinto, and this quote (from #6, April 17, 2009) means we are really really talking about something here!
Can’t wait to see the first releases!
\"There are over 15,000 tapes sitting in the archive. Almost every show, studio session, demo, tour rehearsal, and sound check is in the vault. It’s all on a variety of formats too, like reels, cassettes, DAT tapes, ADAT tapes, and so on.\"

poor Shannen[/quote:2sbvd78d]
Poor Shannen? Not really… If she minds me having my own silly, sexy dreams, then I remind her of her last Girls Day Out, when they discussed things that made me blush… It involved strippers in nightclubs, that’s all I’m saying…On a more serious note, I think that in a really good relationship it is pretty OK to share fantasies with each other. How else can you fulfil each other wishes in general, 1 of the main purposes of having a relationship at all?
ArthurSpectatorThe funny stuff is the story behind the actual signings. Also I just don’t understand people who just get something signed and just runs away from the person signing it.
Many of the times I’ve asked the artist to just draw something nice instead. Usually they get very surprised when asking that. I just wanna bring out the creativity. Enough said.
[/quote:26ugdp5w]
I don’t care so much about signed stuffs, but once I did what you mention here also. A few years ago I went to a concert of Fly Pan Am (spin-off of Godspeed, You Black Emperor) and after the concert we helped the band pack their equipment and carry it to their van, which they used to tour Europe.I asked 1 of the guys (I believe it was the singer) to sign the cd album I bought at the concert, he looked at me in a strange way, he took it, sit down, and only after many minutes he gave it back to me. He almost completely redid the artwork on the paper sleeve for me, and signed it also!
On this pic you can see a small part of it, it’s the one down left. The blue pencil on top of the orange artwork is clearly visible…
ArthurSpectatoryeah, this can’t be real: jimmy wasn’t in the band in november ’96.[/quote:18s9of5a]
This split me in 2, lol! Look at it, it cannot be real, if you know a lot of autographs…
ArthurSpectatorConfessions of a guy…
In my wildest dreams I live in a castle in the UK and a chick comes to pick me up for a walk on the beach…
ArthurSpectator
ArthurSpectatorYeah kinda, I mean, for a poster. If I remember well it was a little over 100 bucks as tons of people were bidding. But please bear with me, it was a long time ago already…
blueczarina was more lucky on hers recently, right blue?
ArthurSpectatorMore garage surf (they call it guerilla surf themselves
) today. I dig this music lots lately. Here are the Raving Bonkers!

ArthurSpectatorIn Holland, on a standard funeral, we can pick 3 songs for the ceremony. I have many times thought that I wanted 3 Smashing Pumpkins songs to be played, but sometimes I think I should not do that. There are so many more bands I like that should be honored. So, for the moment I stick to these 3.
Hallo Venray – Tuck, The Man
Smashing Pumpkins – Soma (this one WILL be played, whatever happens)
Rainbow – StargazerPlease, listen to that first song of Hallo Venray. It’s heartbreaking. I just listened again, and I get all teary…

ArthurSpectatorI found mine on eBay a few years ago, and I just HAD to have it!
ArthurSpectatorthis is such a guy thread
[/quote:3pjty1go]
oosh oosh! off you go!
ArthurSpectatorhow many of these posters are known to exist
very cool poster..and it’s in perfect condition-wow impressive[/quote:1wjpuoyu]
Yeah, mine is in mint condition… No holes and stains whatsoever… The guy that sold it to me years ago said he worked at Metro, Chicago at that times, and he remembered this poster was only used inside the Metro, hanging behind glass, so nobody could steal them. He recalls less then 5 were there. After the concert of Smashing Pumpkins he was allowed to take 2 of the posters, and 1 of them he sold to me. He sold the other one also if I remember well. But my guess is that there must be more, like 25 or 50 or so. Otherwise it is too expensive to manufacure in this quality, right?
ArthurSpectatorFrom my collection, new:
http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=COLLDETAILS&item=3136 (CMJ Certain Damage 1991 US promo with \"Siva\")
http://www.spfreaks.com/?page=COLLDETAILS&item=3137 (30 Years of Chrysalis 2CD US promo with \"1979\")
This last one has some nice info in the booklet that comes with the promo:
\"The Smashing Pumpkins were signed to Chrysalis Music for North America by Tom Sturges for at the time the biggest advance the company had ever paid, one of $500,000. They have gone on to become one of the truly great innovative artists of the 1990s and Billy Corgan one of the great writers in rock.\"
ArthurSpectatoryes i do
[/quote:2fnk4oy3]
Read what Sven says of our poster?
ArthurSpectatorI recognized my carpet!
\"The most striking of these might very well be the awesome ‘art-nouveau’ lettered and styled poster to the New Year’s Eve show at Metro, Chicago. That one; as far as I am concerned is a true gem of poster art.\"
wow…
Didn’t blueczarina own that very same poster too?
