I think I’ll throw in a few more recommendations here, it’s been a while, all of these bands are pretty old I guess, but I’m pretty addicted to all of them :)

Gang of Four Brilliant band, kind of a punkier version of the Kinks, I’m in love with their album \"Entertainment\" look up their song \"Damaged Goods\" for a taste :)

The Animals you probably have heard of them from Pumpkins covering \"A girl named Sandoz\", but a great band in their own right.

The Clash the ultimate in Punk technology as far as I’m concerned, they started to waver a bit whn they fired Topper (their drummer) but I still love all their albums, especially \"The Clash\" and \"Londons calling\", though \"Sandinista!\" had quite a bit of filler on it…..but what am I saying? Everyone knows The Clash, right? Or at least a couple of their bigger singles.

I’m officially sold on Guitar Hero world tour, I love playing the drums :)
I still havent downloaded Glow or the other SP songs available for it (it only comes with \"Today\" included) because I’ve been having major problems with my connection lately :(

Yeah Mirrors edge is awesome so far :)
But I’m hooked on Far Cry 2 and I want to pick up Little Big Planet.
Too many games, not enough cash :(

I know the above email is kind of meant as a half-joke type thing, but I had thought about something similar, but I think the main problem comes from how you decide the people who get it.
Do people who moved to the country last year get it?
What about people who lived here all their life, but left recently, don’t they deserve it?
You have to draw a line somewhere, and I’d assume that it would be with people currently living here (/there) and paying taxes, but I can just imagine how controversial it would be…..still….I wouldn’t say no the the money ;)

Well Canada and Cuba both have free health care too, and they would be a lot closer to you ;)

Just been thinking about this, I think I might have taken the wrong figure, or misread something for the Irish tax rate, I’ll work it out from my own pay and get back to you on that.

There is plenty of socialist organisation’s already operating in the US (law enforcement, fire department, childrens education), I don’t see why health care should be viewed any differently….well actually, that’s not true I do know : the huge amounts of money to be made.
I didn’t check other countries, but here in Ireland we pay far less tax than the US, the highest tax bracket rate (of 2) is 12.5%, where according to wiki the second lowest tax bracket rate (of 6) in the states is 15%
And yes our health care is free.
Most modern western nations incorporate some socialist elements into their society.
Again, speaking only from my nations perspective, free health care isn’t without it’s flaws, there can be huge waiting periods before you are seen to, but that might not be a symptom of it being free, because Ireland simply has an awful health care system at the moment :/

[editing] to add my sources tax rate info…because wiki isn’t exactly reliable, so the info could be wrong :P
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_tax … ted_States
hmm….I can’t seem to find the article I found for the Irish one, so heres another, but the info is out of date on this

Funny thing is, breaking the ankle (in 2 places) didn’t actually hurt! I was lying on the ground cracking jokes with my friend while we waited on an ambulance, the paramedics wouldn’t believe I had broken anything because I was so relaxed about the whole thing :P
Getting the staples removed (which are visible on the x-ray) really hurt, and they did it really slowly too :(

Nice! How’d you hurt your ankle? Wanna share x-rays?
And where in Ireland? I was in Dublin last year for vacation……[/quote:gjpo9h2g]

    lol yeah sure

I took a bad tackle in a game of football, loud snap, then I was laid out on the ground, it was my best friend who did it too! :P

I live in Dublin, who knows maybe we passed each other while you were here :)

Hehe, I think most gamers on the board are using either PC or PS3, so no Halo 3 players here.

Anyone been checking out games coming out soon? FPS central!
Seriously, I love FPS but the sheer amount of them coming out is ridiculous! And still no sign of Killzone :(

I am considering Far Cry 2 though, looks pretty sweet, graphics *almost* up to Crysis standards, though Mirrors Edge looks like it could be fantastic, and I might think about Resistance 2, but I really wasn’t all that impressed first time round.

Oh I know, and I agree.
I guess it’s just the importance some put on music that makes it seem a little off.
I’ve made the same argument with ppl who’ve made the comparison, but then at the same time, like I said…I’ve avoided the games, so I guess on some level I kind of agree with it :/

So Guitar Hero : \"World Tour\" featuring some guy called Billy Corgan (no, I have no idea either :P), is being released near the end of this month (24th I think).
Is anyone going to get it?
I’ve always avoided the guitar hero/rock band games, something about them always just felt very wrong. Like, I COULD try beat my top score on GH or I could try and learn to play a real guitar.
But everyone swears by how much fun it is, and Billy’s inclusion is going to make me cave….plus I’ll have an excuse to buy that SP guitar hero cover thing (are they even still available?).

I have to say I’m kind of skeptical about what G.L.O.W. signifies as regard to the future of SP, after all they dug through their old unfinished songs to come up with this.
Perhaps that’s why it feels like a full band? Because the music of G.L.O.W. was written by the original Pumpkins line up?
I hate to be the one downer on this, but although I like the song, the fact that they looked backwards was disappointing to me.

Billy has yet to create something musically that I haven’t liked though, I have every faith in SP that the next album will be awesome.

Oh, and I don’t think you even need to sign up to download any tracks from the site, just look up the bands profile on last fm, click whatever tracks you wish to download (you have to do them individually).
here is the profile of the band I mentioned above :

You should look them up on lastfm, I’m sure at least 1 of their EP’s (if not both) are available for free download there :)
