ArthurSpectatorlet’s just hope we get it and its not some dumb import thing.[/quote:3jwr9u46]
Dumb import thing? You need to be spanked for saying this.
ArthurSpectatorOh, nothing special. Just an unknown song called \"Sizzle Reel\" with a rather welldone video that was obviously withdrawn from the Zeitgeist album and later releases. Funny.
ArthurSpectatorMayonaise never stops…
Here’s a pic of that DVD, finally. Just uploaded it on SPfreaks.com
ArthurSpectatorSomething COMPLETELY different now. You’re going to shoot me after a quick verdict to a death penalty I’m sure.
I’m getting fond of Amy Macdonald. And I’m not ashamed of it.

ArthurSpectatorWell, at least I ithink I can confirm it was sold out, so that part was true. When I tried to get tickets almost a week ago (just for fun, no intention to go
) I could get 2, but not 8 anymore.
And freaks would say it’s not the third but fourth \"major revision\", thinking about the period that they played with a drummachine in 1987/1988 before Jimmy joined the band. Ah well, I wouldn’t go that far. OK, I’m a freak sometimes, but not this time.
ArthurSpectatorIn the meantime, while we wait for Reggealuv2000’s review, here’s already one from US newspaper Quad City Times.
Smashing Pumpkins open 2008 U.S. tour at Adler
By Thomas Grundmeier | Saturday, August 9, 2008 2:05 AMThe Smashing Pumpkins kicked off their 2008 U.S. tour in the Adler Theatre in Davenport Friday night to a sold-out crowd.
The Pumpkins curiously have not returned to hometown Chicago since their 2006 reunion, even though Billy Corgan announced the reunion in the Chicago Sun-Times the year before.
Now entering its 20th year, the band is currently in its third major revision, this time retaining only front man Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin.
Replacing guitarist James Iha was Jeff Schroeder, and filling D’arcy Wretzky’s boots was the suitably sultry Ginger Reyes. Both are fine musicians, but the real centerpiece of the band has always been Corgan, who was in fine form Friday night.
Sporting his silver \"999\" jersey and matching reflective kilt, Corgan soaked up all the attention on stage with his quirky gestures and shredding guitar solos. And it should be mentioned that after 20 years, Corgan’s distinctive piercing voice is no worse for the wear.
Early in the night, the Pumpkins debuted a new track, \"G.L.O.W.,\" which will be released as a single next month. An early highlight was a triumphant performance of \"Mayonnaise,\" from the group’s second album.
Halfway through the set, the band took to the front of the stage in a more intimate setting, with Chamberlin at a smaller trap set and keyboardist Lisa Harriton at a Rhodes piano. Corgan grabbed an acoustic guitar and played a beautiful version \"Once Upon a Time\"from the 1998 album \"Adore.\"
After a too-short set of acoustic songs, the band took their normal positions as Corgan let the crowd know his views on politics (he doesn’t care for them) and the status of the band (they’re here to stay).
The Pumpkins then launched into two live staples: \"Today\" and \"Bullet With Butterfly Wings.\" Corgan was more than happy to let the crowd sing the opening verse of \"Today,\" and \"Bullet\" got the crowd on their feet and moving around like no other song in the night.
That was followed by the non-album track, \"The End Is the Beginning Is the End,\" currently featured in the theatrical trailer for the upcoming comic-book film \"Watchmen.\"
The crowd was very receptive of material from the ’90s, but was more split as the band meandered through a handful of metal songs, such as \"Heavy Metal Machine.\" For every headbanger in the crowd, there were three more standing perfectly still.
The Pumpkins have a huge library of songs to perform live, and songs from just about every era showed up in Davenport. Corgan and company continue to please their fans by refusing to do a \"greatest hits\" show and instead drawing from their extensive catalogue.
ArthurSpectatorSorry but the youtube thing is not working…[/quote:exbn2uha]
Pipoka, if you change "br.youtube" to "www.youtube" and put it between the Youtube tags, it will work.G.L.O.W., not bad, but I have to hear it again in a decent quality I guess. It rocks, it’s not that much a quiet song, makes me happy anyway. I love the Pumpkins rockers more!
Siva is cool, awesome performance. I hope we get that available soon on The Zomb.
ArthurSpectatorI just re-read a few pieces of the interview, and couldn’t help but noticing this:
Rating: 5.0/5 (23 votes cast)
It supports my considerations, I guess.
ArthurSpectatorI think he’s honestly telling what is his experience. There are many fans that young. There are fans that think Adore is their best album, there are fans that jumped on the train of Pumpkins’ rock with Zeitgeist. And why shouldn’t it be like that? Look at our forum here, and take 20 or something of them that are around more than a few times. They are 14-20 years old, they are around the 30’s and there’s a small 40+ group (Billy’s age). I seriously think that when you are disappointed with a new direction of a certain band, then stick to what you like, give their latest album away, and move on. Just like the band is doing. That’s life. But whining and being rude brings nobody anywhere.
And talking about that negativity, it’s probably like football. Put 40,000 football fans in a stadium, and 400 hooligans can spoil the whole game, if they are not being \"moderated\". Thing is, on an open forum you can’t put the hooligans in a fenced cage that easily. Here, we kick them away, or distract them with 21+ threads…
The Pumpkins can’t do that that easily I presume. They should find a way to moderate a little more, and still keep in touch with the fans, because that’s what they love to do, that hasn’t changed since the early days. I think these latest articles from newly hired PMM members from between the fans are a good thing.
ArthurSpectatorI was just reading that yeah… The best BC/JC interview thing I have read in years, really!
The way Billy answers to Sven is unbelievable honest, if you ask me. Sven must have touched something there.

ArthurSpectatorAnd it could be considered less enjoyable for several things. Firstly, the fact that you aren’t seeing a ‘unique’ show – your seeing pretty much the same show as everybody else on the tour. And secondly, it could be that the band’s heart isn’t really in it, that they’re just going through the motions each night instead of really enjoying the show, instead of putting effort in. I highly doubt SP will be like that, but it is a possible problem, particularly likely in some other bands.[/quote:2i2jlj85]
It could be considered like that, I realize that. Thing is, it doesn’t work like that with me. Bands like Kiss, Rolling Stones, Uriah Heep, just to name a few, they do it all the time. Playing the same setlist all the time that is. Because they know, whatever setlist, the show is going to be unique anyway. The audience is different, the venue is different, the moods are different, and there is 1 very important thing unique too: YOU are there. Who cares what they played yesterday? Who cares what they will play tomorrow? There is this 1 unique setting with YOU where YOU will see this band that you like. And when this band is in a rocking good mood, you’ll get what you came for. Whatever setlist is being played. It’s the expectations that spoil the fun, because you will always be disappointed when having (high) expectations. I have learned somehow to judge the moment, and not the predictions, when it comes to things like this.
ArthurSpectatorI’m on the same level as Superlordspamulon on this matter. However, I would never criticise the personal benefits, or joy, or any other good feeling for that matter, a \"believing\" person says he or she’s getting from his/her beliefs. But the whole concept of religion is not very attractive to me either.
Which reminds me of a nice conversation I had in the SPfreaks chatroom with manillascissor a little while back, about \"faith vs fact\" or \"religion vs science\". Maybe he wants to copy it here, I don’t know. It was quite interesting.
ArthurSpectatorOr hide from it like some of us….[/quote:26sipi8j]
Looks like you’re hiding here occasionally.
ArthurSpectatorI thought it was a sort of good thing, to be honest.[/quote:mt5ij88l]
I do have to agree on that, to be honest. Expressing a strong opinion to Billy cannot be too bad. And he’s open to it also, I heard more than once. Only, I would never use the words "that’s bullshit!" to any person, only when in a raging anger mood maybe. When I’m ranting in a written piece however… it might happen more often. Anyway, I think in this case Billy wasn’t too bothered about it, so why discuss it anyway.I only think that it’s very selfish to criticize the decision to play the same setlist on a tour. As if the band is only playing for this 1 guy every night of the tour. As if there aren’t many many circumstances that influence such decision. And besides, is a Smashing Pumpkins song less enjoyable just because you know it’s being played? Really, I don’t get it. The new signature of Reggaeluv2000 says it all, if you ask me (and her probably too)…
ArthurSpectatorExactly, Cool & Dazey. And I even forgot to mention, that ALL fans are treated equally, isn’t that just great?
Well, just my 2 cents about this. The Gish box & tour being jeopardized isn’t funny though.
ArthurSpectatorCool piece blueczarina! Glad you found it!
This piece, surprised me (again). I heard fans complain about this many times. Have always wondered why.
\"Now this next thing he told me, REALLY disappointed me. He said they will no longer be changing up the setlist night to night. It will be the same setlist every single night of the tour in the same order (much like the February / March 2008 Europe shows).\"
Think of it, in whatever way you look at it, fans will always complain about the setlist. The unknown setlist will be bashed because \"they didn’t play this or that\" and the known setlist will be bashed because it’s not a surprise anymore.
Come on! Get a life! It’s the Smashing Pumpkins playing, ready to rock your ass off! Enjoy the fucking show!
And besides, a little certainty with the unpredictable Pumpkins should be cheered at… Just my humble opinion…
ArthurSpectatorFinally some pics again from our rocking heroes…
ArthurSpectatorNo, I guess everybody has to either email or send it in. But I’m sometimes in a creative mood too you know. Maybe I’m allowed to show off here.
ArthurSpectatorGeezz! How nice to wake up and read this! Holy moly, 500 bucks!
I’m 1 of the judges, so I can’t compete anyway. Sux.
Am I allowed to be creative anyway and show it here?
ArthurSpectatorthat does sound interesting.
i wonder what the video is?[/quote:267qc62n]
I think I found it on YouTube, but it says "This video is not available in your country." when I play it…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzHwPKXjMbU
(same lenght anyway, 2:09)
ArthurSpectatorThat… is pretty cool indeed. Being mentioned together on the same line with those other 3 that are 100 times bigger member-wise, it really means something.
Cool.
ArthurSpectatorOh yes! most definitely will fill you in on the details.[/quote:2wh16x28]
Be prepared for some treats!Freshly copied from sp.com:
"The band has confirmed that they are practicing 9 songs that their current incarnation haven’t played before."
ArthurSpectatorUber-freaky were the beta tests of this Dog thing. Do not watch when you have been eating a few minutes ago.

ArthurSpectatorHorse of the dog, that’s it. Their first album. I was listening to the vids from the bottom up, and after 2 songs I decided to reply. Those 2 are actually the only tracks from that album. Anyway. Yeah, it was very intense, that show. Hopefully they will play again, so you can check them out. You should, if you are able.
